Rustic; 72 m to the beach in Nelly Bay, quiet & leafy nook sandwiched between a habitat reserve and marine park. Shared pool. 400 metres to dive shop, supermarket, bottle shop, chemist, 3 restaurants and 160 m to bus; 15 mins walk to ferry. Private bathroom, fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster, and BBQ. We are happy to supply other cooking gear if required. We have just planted a vegie and herb garden which guests are invited to pick at. And, there is no charge for cleaning.

The space
Rustic and cosy timber cabin with a lounging/hammock deck in a leafy garden, accessed at the end of a dead-end street. Easy beach access (70 m to the sand) via an easement. Very private location, immersed within sounds of wildlife and ocean waves. Also central - short walk to everything that matters, dive shop, restaurants, supermarket, bottle shop and chemist.

Guest access
Exclusive use of the cabin with private bathroom, bar fridge, and some basic cooking facilities. Cabin opens onto a deck that is shared with one other cabin ('The Bush Hut'). Cabin has one queen-size bed, plus access to another single bed in a loft which is accessed via a ladder.

Other things to note
Our property is part of the 'Land for Wildlife' program, and we value it's position adjacent to a habitat reserve. Please come prepared to enjoy falling asleep to the sounds of curlews wailing, echidnas ploughing, and possums squabbling, and waking each morning to an incredible dawn chorus!
Practical stuff; In the hut you will have some cooking facilities these include a microwave, bar b que, toaster, kettle and a fridge. The huts have a loft where we can put either a double or single mattress. This area is accessed via a near vertical ladder, it is a bit of a cubby house. There are actually two huts on site joined by a deck. You can book both if you like.

Location

Nelly Bay, Queensland, Australia

While close to the bustle of Nelly Bay (shops, doctor, restaurants, etc), our neighbourhood is uniquely isolated from it, in a quiet leafy beach-side nook in which property owners have prioritised wildlife over tourism development.

I have lived here on Magnetic Island for the past 25 years with my wife Libby, and this is where we have raised our 3 kids. I am a maritime archaeologist and Libby is a marine biologist, and we love the island for its wildlife and world-heritage values. We look forward to sharing our slice of paradise with you soon.

We are a diving family so more than happy to talk about snorkelling/diving around Maggy or the Yongala wreck. Dive trips leave from the Island for Yongala and the Reef.
