Description

The space

Recently refreshed and refurbished, this beautiful, very private and comfortable vacation home is located only 3 blocks from the beach in Esterillos Oeste in desirable Canada hill, just 15 minutes south of Jacó. It offers 3 closed bedrooms for 5 guests, and can accommodate another 2 people in den. It has 1 1/2 bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, private pool, garden, full size washer and dryer, fruit trees, car port.

Great beach for surfing, and swimming, walking for miles on virgin beach with scenic jungles that come right to the edge of the beach. Quaint small town offers a variety of restaurants, a small well stocked supermarket, and great atmosphere at some of the great local hangouts and restaurants. Everything is within a 5 to 10 minute walk, including bus service to nearby towns of Jacó and Parrita, as well as the capital San José (airport) which is only 1 1/2 hours away.

Comes fully furnished and equipped and includes all utilities, telephone (local calls), cable TV, high speed internet, gardener, pool maintenance.

This is the house that my family and I lived for over 10 years, with all the amenities that we enjoyed. We hope that you will feel as at home there as we did.

Guest access

The whole house, pool area, car port, and amenities. I can provide suggestions and links to nearby attractions and services. Additionally, it is possible to provide some meals, and additional housekeeping.

Interaction with guests

Guests have the house to themselves, but I maintain a small apartment above the carport with a separate entrance for when I'm in the country. That is the only time when the pool and laundry is shared, but guests have priority. I can also provide additional services when I'm there, such as recommendations for activities, and links for services, and coordinate any special needs as well. When I'm not there, there is a caretaker (offsite) to greet guests and who oversees the place. Maintenance employees will come and go through the parking area in order to be as unobtrusive as possible.

The neighborhood

Friendly village, with a local supermarket Super Sol, and a few good restaurants, and local beach bar. You can buy fish directly from the fishermen nearby. You can rent a surf board and get lessons and book tours to local attractions right in the village.
The beach is great for surfing and also there are tide pools that form at low tide that are great for lolling around in the water and safe for even small children.
You can fish from shore or go out with one of the local fishermen at a very reasonable price.

Getting around

There are public buses nearby, and a few locals who offer taxi service around town and to nearby town.

Other things to note

The caretakers take care of a couple of kitties that have gotten used to being friendly with guests.

It is a very nice place on top of a hill. The pool has always a shade so no sun block is needed. The house was always fresh.

Response from Yolanda:
These clients came on the tail of a group who were there only a week, who said that the place was perfect. They were provided a 4 page welcome booklet which detailed everything about the house, directions, what it included, contact and emergency information, and little tips about the area and what to do if something went wrong. This is a private house, and although we do everything we can to ensure that the place is clean and that guests have a pleasant and uneventful stay, it is not a hotel. They were provided a good price and were even facilitated with a driver to pick them up from the airport. They had been told that the maid might still be there upon their arrival side they were arriving on the same day, but they asked her to leave before she was completely finished. They were provided the same as everybody else, a couple of rolls of toilet paper to start them off, but not as they expected: salt, sugar, laundry soap, cleaning products, and more toilet paper for the duration of their 40 day trip. They broke the toaster, and the ceiling fan light on their second day, and it was dealt with immediately with no blame. Their list of things that did not work does not exist. They broke the washing machine second week in and denied it was their fault, and made a complaint to airbnb about it, who ended up only partly compensating me for it even though the caretaker and the repairman insisted that the only way it could have broken was because of their misuse. They were disrespectful, and left my house a huge mess that it took my maid 10 hours to clean, with several broken things (including the dryer seal which was completely ripped out and left discarded in the sink), that they didn't bother even telling us about and then denied it tall even though it cost me well over $300 to repair it all. I had other guests arrive the following day and they wrote: "Leyla was very helpful and gave us a great tour of the house. She is very sweet. We weren't able to catch the ferry from Paquera yesterday until 2 and we didn't get off the ferry until 4, so we really got in much later than expected. Just to let you know the house is very clean and organized, the yard and pool pristine. " They had a great time and were extremely satisfied. In the 6 years that I have been renting my house, I have had many positive comments such as this one, but I have never had an experience like with Guillaume and Anais and have never had to make a claim before.

We spent a few weeks at the casa Esterillos Oasis. This stay was wonderful experience. The house is spacious and includes all utilities. The master bedroom is very great with nice furnishings and a very comfortable queen bed. In two rooms there are huge wardrobes. The kitchen is functional. The pool was a must in this part of the country where it is always sunny and warm. It has always been well maintained during our stay. The vast gallery (with hammock!) and barbecue on charcoal under a bamboo roof was one of our favorite. Vegetation surrounding the pool and the house is lush and sublime. At home we have seen regularly arras rouges, monkeys and many birds. The village of Esterillos Oeste is a small village consisting mainly of Tico. There is a small grocery store very well stocked. We loved the Los Almendros restaurant, tuna is delicious. There is also a good pizzeria on wood oven directly on the beach. A good place to relax after a day of surfing. We also loved the tranquility of the beach, few people during the week, only a few fishermen and surfers. We saw the sunrise and unforgettable sunsets! The owner Yolanda was very nice. It was available to respond quickly to our questions and needs before and during our trip. It was a very great vacation in the tropics!

Canadian, expatriated to Costa Rica since 1994 and now back in Canada. LOVED my years in Costa Rica, but time for a new change. The house I rent in Costa Rica is the house I happily raised my family in.
