When visiting my home you will feel like family.
I love hosting guests and find learning about different cultures and background fascinating. Please read all the details I provided below and feel free to ask additional questions.
Queen-size Aerobed air mattress available in a humble yet spacious guest room. Linen & blankets included.
I live with my cat, Blade, in Los Angeles, CA 10-15 mins drive (or 20 mins by bus) from Venice Beach and/or Santa Monica Beach & 3rd Street Promenade (a very popular outdoor shopping area).
My home is a quaint 2-bedroom, 2-1/2 bath townhouse. I live a very humble, simple, relaxed life and am offering a guest room that can accommodate 2 people with a private bathroom and balcony.
Included during your visit:
Queen-size Mattress (fits a pair/couple comfortably), pillow(s) and linen, towels, basic toiletries, free Wifi, full access to private bath in own private bedroom, parking space, small balcony, & common areas (full kitchen and living room).
My home is clean, spacious and full of positive energy. The kitchen and living room can be used at your leisure. So long as you're tidy and clean up after yourself we will get along fabulously well.
My neighborhood is centrally located to various tourist spots that are easily accessible via public transportation, car or taxi/Uber such as:
10 mins drive by car or 20 mins by bus
Santa Monica Piers:
15 mins drive by car or 30 mins by bus
Downtown Culver City:
7 mins drive by car or 12 mins by bus
Hollywood-Walk of Fame:
20 mins drive by car or 40 mins by bus
35 mins drive by car or 1 hr, 10 mins by bus
All commute is depend on traffic... LA is known for traffic!
In addition, below are some FREE tourist attraction you may want to consider:
-- Walk along the Venice Beach Boardwalk, lots of street vendors and little shops/restaurants, also world famous Muscle Beach and a place where people bike ride, roller-skate & skateboard – from there, you can also walk to the Venice Canals (series of canals with pretty bridges and nice houses, it’s a great place to wander around). I highly recomment renting a bike and chain (security) and taking a ride along the Boardwalk.
-- Olivera Street – near downtown, authentic Mexican restaurants and adobe buildings. This is the first 'village' of LA. So much history.
-- Picnic in Griffith Park – lots of great spaces to picnic and plenty of hiking trails (one where you can see the Hollywood sign close up)
-- Drive up Beachwood Canyon to get a great view of the Hollywood sign
---Hollywood Walk of Fame – on Hollywood Blvd., you can also see the footprints outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater and wander around Hollywood
-- The Original Farmers Market – at 3rd and Fairfax, it’s the oldest market in LA, food vendors and fun shops – it’s right next to the Grove so parking might be a nightmare before Christmas
-- La Brea Tar Pits- prehistoric fossils excavated here, big dinosaurs outside, you can wander outside for free, there is also a museum you have to pay to see inside
-- California Science Center – for those of us who love science and museums
-- Take a drive up Mulholland Drive, beautiful views and places to stop along the way with diagrams that show you what you’re looking at
-- Drive up PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to Malibu – pretty drive along the beach, it's crowded near Santa Monica
I'm hosting guest(s) (max 2 guests/night) during the weekends or weekdays no longer than 1 week (7 nights). NO LONG TERM OR SUBLEASING ACCEPTED.
My Guest(s) Preferences and Expectations:
Mature, not-party animals (obnoxious noise level after 10 pm is frowned upon in my neighborhood), non-smoker, easy-going, drama-free, tidy, respectful and not allergic to cats.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For security reasons I will only approve reservations that contain a photo and are Airbnb verified. It's simple, even if you're new to Airbnb. Recommendations from friends/family are also welcomed. :)
If you choose to stay in my home understand I host for the love of making new connections and providing an affordable place in a great city known for over-priced motels/hotels. :)
I work Mon-Fri and am usually in bed by 10pm on weekdays; however, my weekends are flexible.
What makes my home unique is that you will have an entire townhouse you can call your own.
DISCLAIMER: My home faces a busy street, therefore, if you are a LIGHT SLEEPER, I recommend ear plugs. I am a New Yorker and can honestly testify that the street is NOT as busy or noisy as a NYC street, but you definitely hear the cars. :) Check out some of my previous guest reviews who made mention of this.
Guests have access to their private bedroom, private bath, kitchen, living room with 1/2 bath downstairs and garage (if applicable).
Area that is off-limits is my private master bedroom.
I am available on the property during my guests visits; however, due to my work schedule I have limited interaction as I leave early and arrive late from work.
My neighborhood is safe and quiet. Traffic is moderate and guests should expect to hear some traffic noise, but it's not obnoxious.
Public transport is conveniently located across the street from my home (Bus #14) and down the hill (about 3 blocks; Bus #33 & 733) on Venice Blvd. The 33 takes you to Venice Beach, whilst the 733 takes you to Santa Monica Beach.
Guests have their own keys and can come in and out at their leisure.
Guests have access to their private bedroom (located on the 2nd floor at the top of the stairs; first door on the left) bed linen/blankets included, private bath (towels included).
Shared areas include: kitchen, living room with 1/2 bath downstairs, breakfast nook and garage (if applicable).
Area thatis off-limits is my private master bedroom.
Interaction with Guests
My interaction with guests is limited. I am usually at work M-F and arrive home about 8pm (20pm).
My neighborhood is safe and quiet. My neighbors are respectful and keep to themselves. When visiting, if any neighbor asks, which is rare, simply inform them you are "friends with Milly in Apt 101 visiting from France/China/Oregon". Some neighbors simply ask for the sake of security esp if you are standing at the front of gate. :)
If you plan to take public transport from LAX/Union Station/Burbank Airport be prepared to walk up a small hill when you arrive near my home...about .4 miles or 10 min walk uphill. It's not horrible, but when you have bags you will sweat because there are some sidewalks that are uneven. Adventurous types don't have a problem with it, but some guests arrive exhausted. :)
In case of any emergency, both Police and Fire Dept are a few blocks away. Call 9-1-1 if you have a phone.
I am always available via cell (phone number hidden) or email (email hidden) or call my work if not answering cell ph(phone number hidden).
I leave the kitchen window and my bedroom balcony open for Blade (my cat) in case of emergency. If you are leaving my home for the day PLEASE leave the kitchen window OPEN. I like to give him an escape route. One never knows. :)
My home is centrally located to public transportation. Both buses and subway.
Taxis/Uber service (the latter if you have a Smartphone) are also readily available.
Other Things to Note
REMOVE YOUR SHOES UPON ENTERING. My home is fully carpeted; Carpet stains easily and Blade and I appreciate not playing on dirt or other 'unknowns' tracked in from our shoes. :) I have a sitting area where you can comfortably sit and remove your shoes after you lay down your bags. No rush. :)
Feel free to leave shoes at a designated spot in the living room or carry them upstairs to your room.
Game boards, magazines and books in the living room and tourist books in the guest room are for community use. Please return them as you found them to their designated place.
We Los Angelenos are experiencing a severe drought. Please be mindful of water usage.
My Guest(s) Preferences: Mature, not-party animals (obnoxious noise level is frowned upon), non-cigarette smoker,easy-going, drama-free, tidy, respectful and not allergic to cats.
My home is my sanctuary and guests are expected to treat it as such. No unexpected additional guest are permitted overnight. No parties allowed. Drink responsibly and within reason. Inappropriate drunken behavior will not be tolerated.
Smoking is prohibited indoors and/or my person balconies/patio. Over 1-year breast cancer survivor who never smoked and therefor does not tolerate second hand smoke or smell. Happy to share my story if you are curious. Very happy to be alive and share my home with you.
Feel free to store food in the fridge or empty cabinet.
IMPORTANT REQUEST: After checking-in please advise whenever you expect to be out late (i.e. past 10pm) to ensure I do not lock the additional security lock on the front door. I had a minor break in communication with one guest and accidentally locked her out at 2am thinking she was already in bed. I felt terrible and would hate to repeat that incident. :)
We had a great great experience at Milly's home. Everything is well organized, the room is big with a private bathroom that is awesome, and the house is lovely. Milly was very helpfull with us and very nice. The neighborhood is safe and close to Venice beach.
Walking in the townhouse with the only balcony, My friend and I were welcomely greeted by Blade. As our first time experiencing Airbnb, we were not quite sure what to expect. However, we were more than pleased on where we stayed. The closet was a Tardis in disguise as it could probably fit a table inside with two people playing chess. Also, who can deny the pleasure of having a private bathroom as well. Plus, the neighborhood is a quiet and great location that is surrounded by several churches and just far enough from a school.
To the addition of the lovely atmosphere, Mitsuwa Marketplace is in walking distance with a 4 star rating on yelp. The food is absolutely amaaaaazzzzing. Highly recommend Ten-don Kaneko Hannosuke for their tempura bowls. It will surely leave a treat in your mouth and make you wish there was one near you.
Lastly if there was a word to describe Milly, I would fail for not thinking of just one word that would be enough. She is completely, terrifically, down to earth astonishing. She leaves accurate notes on policy in advance and when she is around will make you feel right at home. Thanks Milly for making our Tech Week and Airbnb experience one to remember!
Milly was such a cool host!! She was awesome to talk to and was super accommodating. We had an awesome time there. It was very private and great to have our own bathroom :) Thanks Milly!
photos as I said do not do justice to the house. the cat will keep you company during the first days, when the time zone will be with you again. I have just enough time to settle down even in the neighborhood. walk, there are excellent panoramic views in Mar Vista. milly works all day but manages to make you feel at home. maximum freedom of time. area well served by public transport. I recommend "Uber LYFT or" excellent alternative to taxis. anywhere you are, coming in two minutes. try it
I enjoyed my stay at Milly's space: It was comfortable and very convenient to the things I wanted out of my stay in Los Angeles. Milly accurately and clearly described her space and the house rules, and made it easy for me to be self sufficient without feeling like I was intruding. Similarly, Milly offers her guests absolute privacy, but makes herself available for questions, and some face time, should her guests choose such. Her space is clean and she provides the right amount of access and comforts to make a stay enjoyable.
Milly is a nice person. She is welcoming, and makes me feel at home. The bedroom is simple, but clean and cozy. A private bathroom is convenient. The location is good, close to many attractive places, such as the grove, universal studio, and so on. I recommend this Milly's house! Thank you Millly!!
It was a great time by Milly. She is so awsome to her guests! And the rooms by her are so private and with your own bath. The bed was good and the place is very near to venice beach! Thank you very much for the great time milly!
Life is about choices. I've chosen to live a life of abundance and in return I've been blessed with a pretty fantastic life. I'm a Puerto Rican American woman who loves adventure, meeting people of different cultures, learning new things and teaching others about my culture.
I love being with Nature feeling the grass or sand between my toes and smelling earth's natural scent. It invigorates me! I'm a natural storyteller, but especially enjoy listening to others tell their story.
My passions are exercising, reading, spending time with my girlfriends and cuddling with my cat, Blade. I'm easy-going, very loyal/protective of my friends and family and trust that when I respect others differences and walk with an open-mind and heart I will receive that same respect in return no matter what part of the country I'm in. Ultimately, what's important to me is making a human connection with others.
