The condo is in a great central location where you can walk to everything downtown has to offer including the convention center, the Gaslamp district, the Padres stadium, Little Italy, Seaport Village and East Village.
Location, Location, (email hidden)dern decor second floor loft in Downtown San Diego, CA. Located in the heart of the Historic Gaslamp District, the condo is a light and bright east facing unit with lots of sunlight in the mornings. Half a mile from the San Diego Bay so we experience moderate temperatures year round. The unit has overhead Air Conditioning and heating but we use it maybe twice a year.
You'll be in the midst of all Downtown San Diego action. You are about 6 blocks from the San Diego Convention Center and adjacent Seaport Village Boardwalk. Also in walking distance are Little Italy's restaurants, Petco Park baseball stadium, and more wonderful bars/restaurants than you can visit in one trip. A short bike ride away is the world famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa park. Only 5miles by cab or a 20 minute ferry ride to Coronado Island and Silver Strand State Beach, which is routinely voted as one of the top 10 beaches in the USA. It's the perfect location!
The Gaslamp District is a very busy area, bustling with locals, visitors, tourists, baseball fans and party goers that converge on downtown, especially on weekends. Crowds of people are walking the streets until 2AM when the bars close, it is a safe area to be out at nighttime. The Condo is very well constructed with sound insulation, recently built in 2004, so none of the sounds and craziness from the streets below make its way into the unit.
Public transportation is very accessible: buses, taxis, trolley and pedi-cabs at the doorstep.
Everything you need as if it were your home:
-1 King Sized Bed
-Overhead exposed Air Conditioner/Heating unit
-Washer and Dryer
-Full Shower and Bathtub
-Big-screen TV with Netflix
-Community Area with BBQ
I am flexible with check in/out, if no one else is checking in/out prior/after your stay. Otherwise, check in is after 3 pm and check out is 12pm.
No parking is available, but there is plenty of street parking if you park early in the morning, a pay lot right behind the complex, and two blocks away a covered lot that allows patrons to leave their car overnight.
Guests will have access to the gym in the condo complex, the community area in the complex which has a BBQ and picnic tables and the entire condo.
Interaction with Guests
We will interact with the guest as much or as little as you like. We live in downtown San Diego as well so we are available if there are any concerns about the condo.
The neighborhood is fairly loud on the weekends and during certain holidays. Since the condo is right in the Gaslamp there are many restaurants and bars that are within walking distance. There is a great bar and coffee shop right downstairs as well.
The trolley is very convenient to the condo. It is a 5 minute walk to get to the trolley which can take you to Mission Valley, San Diego State University, USD and Qualcomm Stadium. Buses are also nearby which can take you basically anywhere in San Diego. The water taxi is a 15 minute walk from the condo and that can take you to Coronado.
Please respect the house as if it is your own. Make sure to take out the trash and also start the dish washer before you leave.
The host folks were great! Brian was waiting when we arrived and provided all the info we needed, like Brooklyn Bagel for breakfast and Discount Market for food. Hub Market across the street ha liquor and wine.
Mason and Brian's loft was a great place to stay while I was in San Diego for work. The place was very clean, cool, and convenient. They were the nicest to accommodate changing reservation dates. I will definitely be coming back.
My husband and I loved staying in Mason and Brian's apartment. It was ideally located, only a couple of blocks from all the major bus lines where we were able to travel to Balboa Park, the airport, Coronado, Little Italy, etc. The apartment was just the right size for a couple and equipped with everything we needed. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Brian was extremely responsive, answering nearly all our messages within minutes.
This is my 5th year going to Comic Con and I really much preferred a more homey place to stay than a hotel. The location is great! Everyone needs to remember that this is in the Gaslamp district so there will be a lot going on in the evenings. I really liked the proximity to the Balboa Theatre as we had tickets to a few events over there as well as over at the House of Blues. The condo is on the back side of the building so it doesn't really get all the noise from the street. Nice and quiet in that respect. The week we were there the weather was unusually warm and humid but the fans in the condo helped keep things comfortable overnight (we're out at the con most of the day). We really appreciated the extra air mattress as we did end up having a friend in need of crash space for one night.
Overall, it's a great cozy place to stay. It's close to Petco Park and the Convention centre. It's also close to all the action in the Gaslamp without it becoming too overwhelming. The coffee shop just downstairs makes some great iced coffees without the StarB price. The bed was super comfy and I slept like a log in it. Mason & Brian were quick to respond to any queries we had. I'd stay hear again if I make it to Comic Con next year!
Great experience and great stay. I needed a last minute place for a conference and the San Diego Convention Center and the hotels were booked. Brian made it really easy with quick communication and flexible terms. When I arrived he met me downstairs with the key, gave a quick tour and handed it off to me. Great loft-style apartment in the heart of the Gaslamp quarter. Dozens of restaurants, bars, entertainment right out the front door. An easy walk to convention center and Petco Park.
The apartment itself was comfortable and had all the essentials plus some extra storage space for my clothes, etc. The place was uncluttered and clean. The Internet was good and TV was available with local channels. There is a small gym in the building to get in a workout.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this place. The only downside is that the neighborhood is somewhat noisy with all the activities so if you're looking for a quiet getaway this may not be the place for you. Some may also be bothered by the lack of shades on the large upper window. Did not bother me from a privacy standpoint, but the bright morning sun does stream into the apartment.
Our stay was great! My wife and I appreciated how close we were to everything in the Gaslamp area. We were also short bike ride away from the harbor. We had a great time relaxing in the space and getting out to see the sights. The information Brian provided concerning where to eat, drink and have fun was quite useful. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a nice place in SD.
I had an awesome stay at Brian and Mason's place, and can't rate it highly enough. Perfect location, really comfortable space and it's delightfully decked out too. I was late in arriving and Brian's sister was very accommodating and gracious about my travel delays. Highly recommended.
I love to travel and when I'm not traveling I'm in San Diego full-time. My favorite places to visit have been Paris, and Costa Rica.
I work as a tax accountant, and enjoy going to the gym and cooking in my downtime. I love trying new restaurants, and going out to the bars in downtown San Diego to watch sports or hang out with friends.
