  • The host was very helpful and polite to insure we had a comfortable stay at the Honey Bear Cabin. The location was perfect for our family to access to lake Tand other points of interest while we stayed in South Lake Tahoe. Me and my family were very pleased with our stay at the Honey Bear Cabin and we would recommend the property to family, friends and future guests visiting the Lake Tahoe area on vacation. The cabin is very spacious and there was plenty of room for guests to eat, relax on the wood decks and cook out some great food on the grill. The cabin is located in a very beautiful and quiet area full of pine trees. This was a most memorable and relaxing vacation and we are absolutely are looking forward to our next stay @ the cabin on our next visit from Dallas Texas. Thank you, the Newell family.

    Highly recommend.

  • Honey Bear Cabin is an amazing place to stay in S. Lake Tahoe! We stayed as a group of 3 couples in this perfectly located, cozy, extremely well appointed cabin for a long weekend of skiing at Kirkwood. Our communication with Susan prior to the stay was very easy and she replies quickly with detailed responses to our general questions. EVERYTHING you need is provided at the cabin, except food and toiletries (my wife was pleased to find a hairdryer and an electric mixer!). The kitchen is well appointed. Although we enjoyed talking with Susan prior to our stay, we did not have to contact her at all during our stay because every detail is covered a guide book that is provided. The hot tub was HOT and was perfect after our long days skiing. The beds are very cozy and are fitted with heated sheets to ensure you enjoy a warm sleep (the master bedroom can get chilly at night, but the sheets help a lot). The cabin is perfectly located just south of the 89/50 intersection. This means you don't experience any of that crazy tahoe traffic heading back to the cabin from Kirkwood. There is a perfect family run ski rental place called Sunrise Ski just down the street. They have amazing equipment on the cheap and should be used if you plan to rent while staying at the cabin. THANK YOU SUSAN!! for making this valentines, birthday, holiday weekend perfect! I love this place and we will be coming back as soon a possible to do it all over again. Also, the price is a steal for what Susan and the Honey Bear Cabin offers.

  • Me and 3 of my friends stayed at the Honey Bear for a weekend snowboarding trip. We had a great time. The place was well maintained and as described. There is a grill and plenty of cooking equipment, and the beds are comfy. An added benefit is its proximity to the highway pass out if they are implementing chain control. It saved us probably 3 hours of traffic time not having to wait with everyone coming out of downtown South Lake Tahoe. I'd definitely stay here again.

  • We had a lovely stay at the Honey Bear Cabin with a group of friends for a birthday weekend ski and snowboard getaway. We had a great time, though the laundry unfortunately wasn't working, about which the owners left a nice note in the manual, but still, laundry would be nice for a ski and snowboard getaway filled with sweaty activity. Other than that it is a lovely place and very cozy and has everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. I cooked a few times and we used the fireplace (got logs from Safeway), which was awesome! The beds come equipped with heating blankets and the heaters in the house make it comfortably warm, as do the extra heaters in the bathroom facing the shower, radiating warmth. Amazing also is the Hot Tub! At night you can see so many stars just laying there, relaxing in the warm water.

    Response from Susan:

Great having you Alexander! We have a NEW washer/dryer now (sorry it was not working during your stay). Oh…and the snow is back again too!! HOORAY! :)

  • Honey Bear Cabin was clean, well stocked (except for toilet paper...) and had plenty of good, usable cookware for us to make dinners throughout our stay. However, we had some issues with the hot tub not functioning properly (jets broken, tepid water that we couldn't adjust) and the washer/dryer was broken as well. Overall we had a great weekend there, just wished the hot tub worked properly as that was one of the main reasons we booked the house!

    Response from Susan:

Thank you Victoria I appreciate your constructive input. As I mentioned to Alexander we now have a new washer and dryer! yippee it was hard on us as well to clean the house in the morning with new guests arriving in the afternoon. Hot tub is fixed as well. Tahoe Pool Company services our hot tub 2x a month and were not able to come until the work week. The did mention the temp was 104 when they first got there so not sure what was wrong during your stay - anyhow all is well. Thanks for staying with us and we hope you come back again. We promise to have lots of toilet paper from now on!! :)

  • Nice cozy cabin in the middle of woods. Reasonably close to major grocery stores (<5 miles) and well stocked with everything that you might need including firewood for the fireplace.

  • The Honey Bear Cabin was great! Very cute, clean, well stocked, and comfy. Very easy to deal with the owner and check in check out all went flawless.

We had a fire roaring the entire time we were there and made great use of the hot tub. I would recommend this place for anyone visiting the South Lake Tahoe area. Very convenient to get around and see the sites and visit the casinos.

    Thanks!

  • The Honey Bear Cabin was just what we were looking for! It is very comfortable & Susan provides most, if not all of the creature comforts you could need. The deck was so great for breakfast in the sun under the trees. The rooms are bright & cozy and everything worked well. The bed in the master bedroom was SO comfortable. The cabin is in a quiet neighborhood, away from the hustle of town, and neighbors were very friendly on our evening walks.

    Stay at the Honey Bear!

  • I had a great time at the Honey Bear Cabin. Everything was clean, accessible and easy to find. Tahoe was amazing too, and the cabin is conveniently located only about a 15 minute drive to the lake.
