A car is necessary unless you are an avid cyclist.
Although Charlottetown centre is accessible by biking, it is a hilly route. There is a bicycle path nearby but to get to it requires about 2 km. on a busy road.
To get to the tourist sites, you definitely need a car. It is a 7km. walk into the centre of the city;
Bus stop is 1.5 km walk and bus service is intermittent. Taxi fares within Charlottetown are pretty cheap and the airport is only ten minutes away by car. There are beaches accessible by bicycle but again, you would want to be an experienced cyclist. Several guest have cycled to the ferry and toured the Magdalen Islands, a beautiful cycling route.
This is a no smoking establishment. We do not allow pets.
We expect guests to respect our home and leave it clean and as it was on arrival. We offer a non-smoking environment.
Myra & Jim are such a great couple I've met. They are the most generous and the warmest welcome host. The place is excellent for me. It's quiet and cozy. I enjoyed my relaxing time on vacations here.
I would definitely want to visit their place with my friends or my husband next time!
What a great experience to stay with Myra and Jim. We had so much in common. They had suggestions for things to do and see. Their home seems like it is in the country, but is only minutes from getting to the downtown and to the airport. I had lots of room to spread out, privacy when I wanted it and friendly chats when I was in he mood.
When it comes to defining the perfect host, you only need to look to Myra and Jim. Their greeting could not be warmer. Their interest in making our stay truly memorable could not be improved. And, their friendship could not be more sincere.
When asked what we should see on PEI, Myra pulled out a map and circled such interesting places as the dunes in the Prince Edward Island National Park -Cavendish, the beautiful church in St. Peters, the Rossignol Estate Winery, and, of course, Anne of Green Gables.
Closer to home, upon our arrival, Myra showed us "the secret room" hidden behind swing out shelves of VHS tapes and DVD's which, as it turned out, was our bedroom. We had no trouble getting a good night's rest as we had a GREAT bed.
When appropriate, we watched movies on Netflix, enjoyed conversations in the kitchen, and took a walk down to the river to see the "Haunted House." In short, if you ever have designs on visiting PEI, be very sure you stay with Myra and Jim - you just can't do better!
Myra and Jim are perfect hosts from the moment we arrived we felt at home, the accommodation was clean and comfortable we would highly recommend staying here.
The location is perfect 3 min to Charlottetown 5 min to the airport Myra and Jim gave us pointers where to visit and eat all of there recommendations worked out perfect, if we visited PEI again we would want to stay here
Our trip to Charlottetown was lovely, and Myra and Jim's was the perfect place to stay. Extraordinarily warm and welcoming, not to mention helpful (good tips on places to eat, gave us cheap bike rentals, etc). Gave us everything we could possibly ask for and then some, and gave us our own space 100% as well. If we return to PEI, we know where we're staying!
My son and I spent 4 days at this B&B and had a great time. The basement bedrooms were cozy and there was a sitting room and private bath. Myra and Jim were kind and thoughtful hosts who helped us with planning our excursions and let us use their bikes, helmets and locks at very reasonable rates. One of the highlights of the stay were the bridge games we played with our hosts and having a beer on the deck with Jim after a bike ride. The location of this B&B is just outside Charlottetown (so you definitely need a car) but very close to all activities on PEI. Will definitely keep in touch with Myra and Jim and will stay there again if we are back on this beautiful island.
The host invited me to chat with her husband and her before showing me my room, which was actually a suite with bedroom, sitting room and bath. We also had a very interesting chat at breakfast and discovered that we had friends in common.
We are retired professionals, returned CUSO volunteers, living in the capital city on an Island that is Canada's smallest province. In the 1800's, Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, named Prince Edward Island one of the world's most beautiful and it continues today as a Topdreamer report says that PEI is the 5th most beautiful Island in the world, 2014.
Jim and Myra love to travel, read and watch movies. Jim has a special interest in history and a library with many books about WWI and WWII. We love to travel and have volunteered three times with CUSO and lived and worked in several developing countries- Tanzania 65-70, Fiji 84-86, Belize 2005-07 . We like to take long walks and nature relaxes us. We live in Charlottetown and are minutes from the city centre by car or bicycle. Also, we are twenty minutes by car from beautiful beaches in the provincial parks and 40 minutes from Green Gables and Cavendish Beach on the north shore. We are airbnb hosts because we like meeting people.
