Hidemi made me feel very welcome. Her share-house is an ordinary Japanese home. Not the one she lives in, but another nearby which she rents out room-by-room. Her English is quite adequate. Everyone staying in the house spoke some English, (Swiss, Italian, Spanish) although I was the only native speaker.
She went beyond mere hosting. After I walked to her personal home to pick up the key (which was waiting for me as arranged), she was at the share-house to greet me personally. She had some tourist information and maps available, and even drove me to a festival later in the evening. The next day when I was leaving, she drove me to the train station. She maintained good contact with me before I arrived. She gave me good instructions on how to find the house. The house, room, and bed (a folding cot) were modest but clean, and more than met my expectations. The house is not centrally located, but I did not mind that. Taking a train and walking is enjoyable to me. The house is about 1/2 mile from the nearest train. Hidemi gave excellent directions.
Hidemi is lovely and sweet ;) I had a great night in the lovely house. It's clean and comfy! I definitely would recommend this place to whoever comes to Kyoto to visit!
Hidemi is a very friendly and welcoming person! Staying at her share house for 2 months was really great! She is always willing to help you with anything and she gives you great advice for your sightseeing plans! She also invited me several times for a sento and sushi bar! If you do not speak Japanese she really tries to speak English with you. The only negative point that I would like to highlight may be the fact that the house is kind of far from the center. But at the same time it also enables you to experience the Japanese countryside! Anyway I would highly recommend this house if you want to experiment the Japanese culture while staying in Kyoto!
It's a great experience to stay in Hidemi s place. The share room is clean and comfortable in a quiet neighborhood. Hidemi is very nice and sweet. She provides very useful information in a very gentle way and every suggest she gave you should go. All Japanese are so polite, and she gave me a chance to interact with one of them. I missed Japan and missed this sweet lady.
Staying with in the Yamashina share house was an amazing experience for my first time to Kyoto. Hidemi is very nice, very accommodating, and was very helpful in helping me plan my visit.
The room and house itself are very nice as well! The room stays nice and cool at night (I stayed in spring), and is on a quiet block. The house has very easy access to all of the major tourist attractions, and Hidemi can point out some different places to visit that you wouldn't find in a guidebook.
All in all, a very great stay!
I finished my first journey in Japan yesterday and this is really a wonderful experience! I knew airbnd only in this March and I booked three nights in Nishinomiya and three nights in Kyoto. I print out the map of Hidemi's house and its easy to go there from Nagitsugi Station. Then I got the map to share house and the key from her mailbox. She was working in her part-time job at that time, about 7:15 PM. I met many friendly people those three nights: dear host Hidemi, Phd student Rafael,Japanese student Nami, my いもうと Johanna from Germany, Eric from Italy and a couple from Poland. You know in share house, people come and people go, but I think meeting each other is a kind of destiny and 羁绊kitsuna. I will miss you guys. Thank you Hidemi, for your warm heart and hospitaility. Your cook is delicious! Thanks for your gift and the currency exchange so that I can afford the ￥2550 airport bus :P I really hope to see you again.
