Nice place! It was a good deal, have everything that I need, private, one block walk to take the taxis to west end for $1.50 less than 10 minutes, the place have a nice pool but never used, I was to busy knowing Roatan. Cecilia was very nice, she answered me all the questions that I want to know.
Thank you! I'll see you soon.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel/hostel. I especially liked the hostel part. Was there alone for a month and having a hostel inside the "compound" made for instant company when I wanted it. Met all types. It was great.
Mel was very responsive. I pointed out that the room could use a new coat of paint and she promptly had it done while I was upgraded to the Casita for 3 days. The Casita is fabulous btw. Sunny and near the lovely pool. Mel was also quick to respond to messages and appreciative of suggestions. She even had the hotel sign moved at my recommendation to make it more visible to arriving taxis and guests.
The only drawback is the internet which is slow. This is typical of Roatan which charges an arm and a leg for high speed, so I am sympathetic to Mel's reluctance to pony up for the faster service. But it doesn't stop me from complaining about it! Most people are probably glad to get away from it all and don't mind it, but being there a month, for me it was a little frustrating. If there is some way to make it optional for a fee, I would pay for it.
All in all, a very nice and affordable place to stay. If you don't want to pay the higher prices at nearby West End, this the place to stay.
The room was fine although a bit far from everything. Taxis are cheap, but if I go again I would stay at the West End where everything is within walking distance.
I had a great time at the hostel and in Roatan in general. Mel is super nice and friendly and is ready to answer any questions you might have. There was a great group of people from all over Europe and N. America the week I was there. It was a group that had good chemistry, which enhanced my experience. Picked up great beta on Nicaragua, Guat, Panama, and Costa Rica from fellow travelers. The hostel is well-located. It's a quick ride to West End (which is where all the nightlife is). There's a dive shop within 15 minutes by foot or 3 minutes by car. Fabulous pool located on the premises. Lots of little tiendas within five minutes on foot that sell rum, beer, and breakfast food like eggs, tortillas, beans, all types of fruit, etc. Quick walk down to the water and a pier where one can snorkel.
I would definitely recommend this hostel. One caveat: It was the second-best hostel experience I've ever had but some of that was due to the great chemistry I had with the other travelers. Your experience might vary depending on that factor alone.
We stayed in the studio apartment behind the hostel at Mels and we had a great time during our stay. The pool is nice to relax in, especially in the afternoon after coming back from exploring the island.
Mel is a great host, who is always willing to help new arrivals and suggest where to go and what to see in Roatan.
This place is perfect to have a taste of the Island. The room has everything you need and is very well positioned. Most of all Mel knows everything about the island and she is always very helpful and ready to give you advices!
Mel is the Hostess with the Mostest! Informative, friendly, always available, cant wait to stay here again!

We are a small, friendly hostel in a residential area of the island of Roatan. Dorm rooms include use of a communal kitchen, shady porch, pool and patio. We're just a few minutes walk to the dolphins at Anthony's Key, as well as the botanical gardens,
