Peaceful Cabin in Live Oak Setting

Cabin - Entire home/apt · Squire Canyon Rd, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States

The Space

This newly remodeled cottage sleeps 2 to 4 with a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen sleeper in the living room. Full service kitchen is available and the bathroom includes a tub for a relaxing soak after a day of hiking or cycling. Beautiful bamboo screening provides an added level of seclusion for those seeking a romantic get away. The views of the surrounding hills are majestic.
The cottage was constructed using sustainable, green materials: bamboo floors, recycled cabinets, green paints and stains. We offer network computer hookup through our internet service.
Its just minutes from San Luis Obispo and Avila Beach, but it feels like you've really escaped the stress of city life. We hope you choose Squire Oaks Cottage for your next getaway.

Squire Oaks Cottage is conveniently located near beautiful Avila Beach which offers a full spectrum of recreational activities including wine tasting, shopping, excellent restaurants, golf, fishing and whale watching charters, kayaking, swimming and just relaxing at the beach. We are 2 miles from two health spas and hot springs, Sycamore Mineral Springs and Avila Hot Springs which are both open to the public for hot spring soaking, therapeutic massage and recreational swimming.
We are 6 miles south of the city of San Luis Obispo which offers a variety of restaurants, live entertainment, shopping, and the world famous Thursday Night Farmers Market. For any travelers interested in CA's culture and history, we are within driving distance of several California Missions: San Luis Obispo, Santa Ynez, La Purisima, San Miguel and San Antonio.
Many people come to the Central Coast to visit the numerous wineries located in our area. We are centrally located to several wine tasting tours.
A three mile hiking trail is located right outside our door. Deer, foxes, and many bird species share the canyon with us, and can often be viewed while walking our local trails.
The weather in the canyon tends to be ideal. Its a great place to escape chilly coastal fog or searing heat of the inland valleys. Our high temperatures range from an average of 65 in the winter and 75 in the summer.
Squire Oaks Cottage offers visitors a blend of pastoral serenity with easy access to the all the city has to offer.

  • Great cabin. In an oak filled gorge. Lots of natural light. New, and immaculate. Leakless in huge rainstorm. Just a mile or so from the Bob Jones bike trail to Avila Beach, and Sycamore Hot Springs (great massages, private hot pools), and Avila Hot Springs (great outdoor pool filled with hot springs water). Morning coffee fetching distance from San Luis Obispo.

  • Lisa was a wonderful host. My stay at the cabin was delightful. She made me feel welcome right from the start. I enjoyed the space and its close access to SLO's great outdoor recreation sites. The stars were amazing and the setting was just beautiful. "Peaceful" is just the right word to describe this very private space. I look forward to a repeat visit very soon.

  • Lisa's very clean and neat cabin was a perfect retreat for us after a day of enjoying the coast. I especially appreciated the books and magazines about the history of the area. We look forward to staying here again on out next trip!

  • The cabin was very clean and nicely located.

  • Lisa was gracious enough to allow us to stay with my partners dog. Not without a lot of sighing and the threat of an extra $100 charge. A service dog I might add. Who doesn't allow service dogs? The dog is a Coton de tulear, non shedding and hypoallergenic.
First night was a disaster. She had placed plastic covers on the mattress and pillows, no sleep was had that night due to the sweating plastic causes and the inherent noise associated with moving around on plastic. Not to mention also the noise of some animal in the near vicinity that started howling or crying at 1:30 in the morning and did not let up for 3 hours.
The second night was better, we covered the plastic bed cover with another blanket and removed the pillows.
We missed our checkout by 20 mins. my bad :-(
Overall we were not impressed with the accommodation for the price I paid. A room at a local inn or hotel would have been more rewarding and served breakfast and entertainment (a TV at least)

  • This cabin was a pleasant experience in a beautiful setting. Modern, comfortable and quite large for a cabin. The hostess is very courteous and we would definitely want to stay there again in the future. Very recommendable!

  • We stayed at Lisa's place for one night at the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. We cut our drive back to SF from Southern CA into two parts by staying in SLO. Though we arrived late at night, her place was found with great ease. We were so excited to drive through the peaceful rural setting to the cabin's location. The night was so serene, and we caught view of amazing shooting stars. We were so pleased with the cabin, it was more spacious than we expected. Our stay was so enjoyable and restful. The cabin is private, extremely clean and tidy, and felt very comfortable. We definitely wished we could have stayed longer. Lisa is kind, easy-going, a great communicator, and very hospitable. Even with our short visit, she and her family made sure to facilitate our stay as best as possible.

  • Myself and my two small children stayed in Lisa's little Cabin for a week. Great location between San Luis Obispo and Avila Beach. It was the ideal base from which to explore the area. The Cabin was comfortable and well equipped as we self-catered much of the time. Lisa was helpful and responsive to our needs, a wonderful host.

  • A beautiful and peacefully created space by the Ankenbrandt family.
The cabin was a great landing spot for touring the San Luis Obispo and other neighboring towns. Would love to stay there again if we are ever in that area again.
