I really hate to write a bad review, but for the sake of others I must. Let's get the stuff that went right out of the way. The pictures are representative, and entering the apartment was a snap. Now to what went wrong. This is the type of listing that will guarantee that hotels never fully go out of business. The preparedness and communication was so bad, it bordered on malicious. The guide book simply states that the password is under the router. I searched and searched before finally contacting them via AirBnB message stating that there was no router (they had their phone disconnected). This was a Saturday. Nothing until the next day, and the message back was "it's under the router". Then I wrote back with more explanation and no word for another day and many messages and emails. My suspicion was that he router was in another apartment, because I could see the network. Finally, Pedro wrote back and sure enough, realized that we were in the apt that didn't have the router in it. How has this never come up before? He claimed to try and contact the guests in the other apt, but never got back to me until I kept prodding. I was never able to find the other guests at home. Guess they were out enjoying Berlin after getting all their work/planning done on the internet. I never got the password. I checked out the following Wednesday. It is so odd and unprepared to not know the password in general, but especially if the router is inaccessible. Oh yeah, he lives in another country apparently, so cross your fingers with anything else. The bed is too small for two human beings unless they are very small creatures. Also, other reviews are spot on with the shower. Not only does water get everywhere, but the head is broken so you will joylessly hose yourself down like a prison shower. Which is apt, because that's what the place will begin to feel like. Oddest of all was the broken hammock, hanging lifelessly from the wall. Even if the wifi problem hadn't occurred and I had no need to try and communicate with them, this apartment is not worth it. Spend a little more. Trust me.

Tanja's apartment was in a very quiet and residential location. It was very close to public transportation, but not really in walking distance of much. The apartment was very basic but there were some things that weren't working, like the shower head. Overall a good stay, but some things could have been improved.

My favorite air bnb I've stayed in so far! So so cute and close to touristic monuments but also bars and restaurants. There is a restaurant right next to the air bnb to the left that I would definitely recommend! If I come back to Berlin I would try and stay here again!

Pros: the location of Tanja's apartment was great and the apartment itself was fairly clean. The kitchen had some pretty basic supplies (bowls, utensils, hot water pot for coffee) and there was even a TV with DVDs in the living room to watch. Cons: communication with Tanja was extremely difficult. Twice j had to call the Airbnb mainline to get assistance because the directions weren't clear and I couldn't get ahold of Tanja. Both operators I spoke to agreed that the directions weren't clear. Several items in the house are broken, most importantly the shower curtain holder which makes it impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom. This has been repeatedly mentioned in comments going back to July but hasn't been fixed. Lastly towels were stained, probably from being used to dry the floor after cleaning the bathroom. Overall: Tanja's place was fine for a place to stay if you're just looking for a base for your adventures in Berlin. For the price it's a good value, comfortable and clean. It wasn't the best hosting experience I've had with Airbnb but it also wasn't terrible and certainly didn't hamper our time in Berlin.

We really enjoyed the location and having the full apartment to ourselves. The apartment was also larger than we expected and very clean. I do think that it's important to note that, at least while we were there, the shower curtain rod and the bathroom trash can were broken, and the bolts on which the hammock hung were coming out of the walls. It seemed like the mountings in the walls for the hammock and curtain rod weren't appropriate for the weight loads.

A nice small apartment, perfect for couples. Close to U-bahn so you can get anywhere quickly. Host was able to answer our questions quickly which made our first stay in Europe a little less stressful.

The apartment was bigger than we thought it was based off the pictures. It was also probably the cleanest apartment that we've stayed at. The bed was pretty comfortable and the WiFi worked well. The apartment is about a ten minute walk to the Brandenburg Gate. The shower worked fine, so it must have been fixed before we arrived.
