  • Mark was easy to communicate with and a very welcoming host, he even left us homemade brownies, wine and his special BBQ sauce! The house is tastefully decorated and in a great setting. 5 adults stayed there very comfortably and we had everything we needed during our stay.

  • Really outstanding place, great place and spacious with all you might need. We spent over 20 days and we felt like being home.
Best part? enjoining the dusk from the huge balcony ...priceless.
On top of that Mark is great guy and an amazing cook. He prepared the best dinner ever with his special ingredients...only thinking about it I get hungry.

Can't wait to be back again and again.

  • Overall, we enjoyed our stay. I would, however, suggest getting to the lake house during the day as trying to get there at night can be a little tricky with some of the turns and side streets. There's a lot of space. Great view! Also, different things to pong, darts, fishing, BBQ on the back porch, etc. Mark was nice enough to leave some wine, cheese and crackers, and his famous BBQ sauce. We had an issue with the heater during our stay, so we were a bit chilly inside, but other than that, we all enjoyed our time there.

  • Mark's place but absolutely perfect for our vacation. We spent the weekend at the NASCAR races at Talladega - and were able to enjoy the evenings and mornings at the house, and enjoyed some time on the dock overlooking the beautiful lake. The house is absolutely beautiful inside and includes everything you could possibly need - full kitchen, awesome open concept floor plan with 3 big bedrooms (2 with ensuites), pool table, ping pong table, darts, bbq, comfortable couches for watching movies on the big screen tv. Mark was a pleasure to deal with, always available for questions and really cared about how we were enjoying our stay and that we had everything we needed. As an added bonus he left us wonderful steaks for the arrival of our first evening; and letting us use his spices etc. really helped on the grocery bill. We would highly recommend this as an amazing alternative to a hotel if staying for a race weekend - the trip to the track is only 30 minutes and the back roads beat the traffic on race day out of the track.

  • We had a great stay at Mark's place. He was an exceptional host, easy to communicate with, and his house was incredible. It served as a great HQ for our annual golfing trip. Thanks and we'll be back!

  • Mark's place is absolutely outstanding! My wife and I booked this, a week before our planned "mini-vacation" and had a great time. Another couple joined us and the house had more than enough room for us to have our privacy and enjoy the common areas--fabulous, large kitchen; game area w/ pool table/ping pong, darts, and more. The home and the lake were gorgeous. The porch provided an amazing view and the three sets of french doors let in incredible sunshine when we were indoors as well. Place was clean, in good repair, and we had a perfectly relaxing getaway. (Our only disappointment was the short notice on our end which didn't allow us to get to use the boat this time; so we hope to have more advance notice and schedule early next time!) Thank you, Mark!

  • My group stayed at Mark's place for a few days recently. We were on our annual golf trip and were playing several rounds of golf in Birmingham and Sycalauga (Oxmoor Valley, Ross Bridge and Farmlinks). We had an absolutely phenomenal time. Mark's place is perfect for a group of guys on a golf trip - billiards, darts, poker, fishing, etc.. The house was clean and offered all of the amenities that you could want and then some. The view from the back patio is outstanding and the lakeside location was a huge plus. We got plenty of use out of the poker table and chip set. The kitchen is fully stocked. Plenty of privacy, yet close enough to Pell City that you can get to restaurants and grocery stores without too much trouble. Speaking of restaurants, we brought BBQ back from a hole in the wall place called Butts to Go and it was delicious. We also used Mark's BBQ sauce - very tasty. Our biggest regret was not being able to spend more time at the house. Between the 36 holes of golf per day and traveling, we really only spent evenings at the house. The house has so much to offer. We will certainly stay again if we make it back down that way.

  • The lake house was stunning, and Mark is a wonderful, attentive host. Where do I begin? With the kitchen outfitted for gourmet meals? Spices, canned goods, pots, pans, SHARP KNIVES - not just someone's hand-me-downs kept in a weekend cottage. This is no cottage! Plenty of room for everyone ... sumptuous furniture with high count cotton sheets and fluffy pillows on the beds. The master shower is to die for. If you are in for the NASCAR race, it is very convenient to the track, and if you are a golfer or fisherman, there is golf within a mile and the lake right out the back door. Truly Heaven in Alabama!
