The Space

Take a century old carriage house, locate in the best living and shopping neighborhood in San Francisco, tear out the insides, and completely update.

Just off 24th street in a quiet alley-way, we found the perfect place to renovate and update. From dark-small rooms, we tore down walls, ripped up carpet (to find great hardwood) and re-did just about everything.

The result is something that is absolutely central in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Bright, modern and peaceful, it's the ideal home base in San Francisco. You can walk to some of our favorite food places (crepes at Savor), coffee (Martha Brothers) and groceries (Whole Foods) in under 5 minutes.

We're just 2 minutes from the J-Church street car line, that goes directly downtown. You can also walk 10 minutes and get to BART which goes directly to the airport or downtown as well.

Inside we've completely redone the kitchen. Modern appliances and everything our friend, a Cordon-Bleu trained chef has told us to get for her when she visits.

We have a big LCD TV with wi-fi capability and Netflix access. There's an Apple TV box as well attached to the TV, for the BYO crowd.

For the more technically oriented, there's 50mb broadband, WiFi, a printer/copier/fax and an Apple TV in the house as well so you will not be out of touch.

We've done our best to be eco-friendly here. The roof has hot-water solar (feel free to take long afternoon showers), most of the lights are LEDs (many of them using the new L-prize winner Philips LED bulbs) and the home is equipped with smart power and heat management systems.

Guest Access

Each of the two units in the building has access to its own washer and dryer. The units share one garage spot, which is available for use with prior arrangements and a small additional fee. Please note that the garage space will only accommodate a compact car and drivers should be comfortable with snug spaces and city driving.

  • This apartment was exactly as advertised. Very clean, reasonably priced, and in a great location. The only real disappointment (and this is nit-picky) was that the printer was out of toner. (I really needed to print something.) But that is it for the negatives. Everything else was in great working order and there was even a bunch of extra towels, sheets, and toiletries. Access to the apartment was also a breeze. My manager recommended this place to me (I was in town for work) and I was glad he did. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Staying here was comfortable, convenient and worry-free. This apartment is a nice space. The wonderful breezes that filter in through the windows added an atmosphere of relaxation and freshness. It is bright and spacious. Noe Valley is a sweet neighborhood that pretty much has all you need. The Whole Foods is a few blocks away, the J train which takes you to all the great places, is even closer and Dolores Park is a nice stroll away. The hosting company was quick to reply to any of our questions or concerns. I've been using Airbnb for some time now and this place is definitely at the top of the gold star list.

  • We have just come back from a wonderful stay in Paul's beautiful apartment.

The location is great. Just a 10 minute walk from the Bart station (a bit uphill but we did it with a baby in a stroller and three suitcases) and right on 24th Street which is flat and has many great little restaurants, shops and Whole Foods.

The apartment itself is really beautiful. The kitchen is a chef's dream and even got me to make a few meals while on vacation. Everything in the apartment is high quality from the hand soap to the plates to the knives and wine glasses. This is not an "Ikea" apartment :-)

The bed was small but very comfortable.

We had a bit of a problem with the cleaning but Paul and his management team were extremely helpful and responded right away.

We highly recommend this apartment to anyone who will be in SF and would like to stay in a "neighborhood" kind of place.

We would be happy to stay here again !

  • Paul's flat was perfect for our girls weekend. Four of us stayed there and were perfectly comfortable! The place is very well appointed - the hosts have thought of everything and all of the amenities were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the delicious coffee they provided us and the yummy soy creamer! We will definitely be back!

  • The place is as-advertised and in the great Noe Valley neighborhood walking distance to Martha's Coffee shop, a great cheese shop and so much more. Works well for 2 adults and 2 kids (which we were). While we didn't take advantage of the new-everything appliances, they're there if you're so inclined. Clean, well-managed and just an overall great first airbnb experience for us. Thanks again.

  • The bottomline: this is a great place to stay in S.F. We (husband, wife and 18-year old) were exceedingly pleased with the sunny space and the attention given to style. I was so pleased that they had real silverware and not a flimsy tin excuse for cutlery. And, yes, it really is peaceful. You do not hear the sounds of the city as the house is nestled away in a back alley with no traffic. Even the lighting was good! And in the bedroom, too, so we were able to read the newspaper in bed.

It's easy to get around from here with the BART just 10 minutes away and the J-line tram on Church Street more or less at the doorstep.

We were especially impressed by Paul Brody's agents at Beyond Stays who took care of things with good humor and great organizational finesse when we needed their help. The toaster broke and two hours later we had a new one. The door code didn't work and they got back to us immediately with a new one. We didn't know how to work the heater and they sent someone over to show us. (If they could have made the weather outside warmer, they would have, I'm sure!)

So I would recommend this apartment to everyone and anyone with a little more to spend. And I would definitely come back. And did I forget to say I loved it?

  • Great experience. The apartment was beautiful in a great neighborhood, quiet and close to the Mission and a block form the Muni. Host was great, sending me plenty of clear instructions and checking in with me during my stay. I would absolutely stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • What a great spot! Convenient to everything in SF, spacious, clean. It was the perfect home base for our wedding weekend!

  • Paul's apartment is very spacious, bright, clean and well-equipped. The location is perfect: close to the bart, in the hip mission district and not far from the Castro, Haight/Ashbury. Communication with the Beyond Stays Team worked well, when the wifi didn't work, they took care of it within a day.
I had a great time and would totally stay there again!
