Take a century old carriage house, locate in the best living and shopping neighborhood in San Francisco, tear out the insides, and completely update.
Just off 24th street in a quiet alley-way, we found the perfect place to renovate and update. From dark-small rooms, we tore down walls, ripped up carpet (to find great hardwood) and re-did just about everything.
The result is something that is absolutely central in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Bright, modern and peaceful, it's the ideal home base in San Francisco. You can walk to some of our favorite food places (crepes at Savor), coffee (Martha Brothers) and groceries (Whole Foods) in under 5 minutes.
We're just 2 minutes from the J-Church street car line, that goes directly downtown. You can also walk 10 minutes and get to BART which goes directly to the airport or downtown as well.
Inside we've completely redone the kitchen. Modern appliances and everything our friend, a Cordon-Bleu trained chef has told us to get for her when she visits.
We have a big LCD TV with wi-fi capability and Netflix access. There's an Apple TV box as well attached to the TV, for the BYO crowd.
For the more technically oriented, there's 50mb broadband, WiFi, a printer/copier/fax and an Apple TV in the house as well so you will not be out of touch.
We've done our best to be eco-friendly here. The roof has hot-water solar (feel free to take long afternoon showers), most of the lights are LEDs (many of them using the new L-prize winner Philips LED bulbs) and the home is equipped with smart power and heat management systems.
Each of the two units in the building has access to its own washer and dryer. The units share one garage spot, which is available for use with prior arrangements and a small additional fee. Please note that the garage space will only accommodate a compact car and drivers should be comfortable with snug spaces and city driving.
I regret we cannot accept pets and smoking is not permitted.
Beautiful apartment in the heart of Noe Valley, a very nice and safe family friendly neighbourhood, close to Castro. The house was very well equipped, I stayed there for 6 weeks for work and I had an amazing time. Thanks Paul for hosting me, I hope to come back soon.
Amazing location on a quiet alley in a great neighbourhood. We really enjoyed the local shops and restaurants, and our toddler enjoyed the nearby playgrounds. Very convenient for public transport. The apartment is well-stocked and comfortable. Really felt like a home away from home. Would definitely book again if in the area. Communication with the host was quick, efficient and friendly.
The listing was accurate except for a few details. The location was great, a few blocks from a whole foods, a street car, parks and playgrounds, even a farmers market on Saturday morning. The kitchen and bathroom were great, as was the bedroom. We liked that the living room was down the hall, so my two year old and baby could sleep there and we could still use the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom without bothering the sleeping kids. My only issues were that there were no extra towels in the closet, as we were told there would be. Also the bedding for the pullout was missing. I emailed about this the first night of our stay, and they got back via email. But it wasn't until I called a few times that they were able to bring the towels and bedding that same day (they were going to bring the next day, which would have been too late). I'm glad they resolved this issue relatively quickly. Also the portable crib (pack and play) was slightly broken but we could still use it, we let the owner know. The laundry was in the garage was great and easy to use. Getting in and out of the building and apartment was also easy. While we didn't park in the garage, there was space for our stroller so it was nice that we didn't have to lug it upstairs. I would recommend this apartment, but if you need the extra towels (We did as we had two kids with us) and bedding, maybe call ahead to make sure they are stocked. Overall the apartment was great and clean. Note if you have kids, there is no bath (but the kitchen sink is huge so you can bathe a baby easily, and we showered with our toddler)
We had a really nice stay at Paul´s place. It is very well organised, charming and near to public transportation. It was the first time we were ranting without meeting the host in person but everything worked perfectly.
Location, location, location! Situated on a great street in the hip and peaceful Noe Valley, perfect for our family of four to use as a base from which to explore San Francisco. Well equipped, modern, bright, with an airy kitchen where we would congregate, cook, plan. Garage essential. Street full of nice little restaurants, cafés, and shops (including Whole Foods). Communication with host easy.
This apartment was exactly as advertised. Very clean, reasonably priced, and in a great location. The only real disappointment (and this is nit-picky) was that the printer was out of toner. (I really needed to print something.) But that is it for the negatives. Everything else was in great working order and there was even a bunch of extra towels, sheets, and toiletries. Access to the apartment was also a breeze. My manager recommended this place to me (I was in town for work) and I was glad he did. I would definitely stay here again.
Staying here was comfortable, convenient and worry-free. This apartment is a nice space. The wonderful breezes that filter in through the windows added an atmosphere of relaxation and freshness. It is bright and spacious. Noe Valley is a sweet neighborhood that pretty much has all you need. The Whole Foods is a few blocks away, the J train which takes you to all the great places, is even closer and Dolores Park is a nice stroll away. The hosting company was quick to reply to any of our questions or concerns. I've been using Airbnb for some time now and this place is definitely at the top of the gold star list.
