This room is 6 feet/180cm in length beware if you are tall. This is a room with shared living room and shared bathroom in a 400ft flat. I live in the flat and enjoy meeting global travelers like you. You have a TV and DVD player in your own room with full access to living room and kitchen. Basic amenities, such as towels and toiletries, will be provided. If you are up for an unique opportunity to experience the local culture while being just a subway ride from the hustle and bustle, you will enjoy my flat.
The flat is 5 minutes walk to the Yuen Long MTR (subway) station and a major bus hub. Once you get to MTR station / bus hub, here is what you can expect:
- 30 minutes MTR ride to Central
- 25 minutes MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui (TST)
- 40 minutes bus ride to Airport (one bus and only 15HKD!!)
- 15 minutes bus ride to boarder crossing to Shenzen, China
The best thing is the location: very near to subway and buses stations, surrounded by a lot of shops, restaurants (Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, etc.). Yuen Long being 40 minutes away from Central, is a town where you can sense the true Chinese culture. The apartment es small specially for more than 2 people, with bedrooms with just enough space for the bed and a small nighttable, but this is Hong Kong!! Joe doesn't live in the apartment but he's just a email away to solve any problem. This place was very convenient to enjoy Hong Kong in our stay.
First of all, Joe was really helpful throughout the whole process of booking and stay. He was very patient when I had trouble booking through the website, and dealt with our requests efficiently. I can say that he is a very good host. The apartment was very convenient, near to the MTR station and bus stops. It is also close to shops and restaurants.
However, there are some things that I need to point out. When we arrived, we discovered that he had taken us to a different place and not the one that had been advertised. In addition to this, there was not a key for the door but a bike lock in its place. The walls were covered in writing (I appreciate that these were positive comments from previous guests) and although this may appeal to some, it doesn't really make a good impression.
Overall, thank you to Joe for being a great host. If he could make some minor improvements to the apartment, I would happily recommend him to people I know who are looking for accommodation.
Very small but comfortable. Location is good and a lots of small local stores around. It's easy to take bus from Airport for 50 minutes.
We had a pleasant stay at Joe's place in Hong Kong. It was easy to get around from his apartment, and there were some historical sites nearby to check out. There is a lot of shopping nearby, and some really nice bakeries :) The place is small, clean, and secure. It was nice of Joe to meet us at the station when we arrived, as it had been a long travel day and Hong Kong is huge, dense and busy!
We had a really enjoyable time in Yuan Long, using Joe's apartment as a base to explore the New Territories.
The apartment itself is a little dated in its decor, but its location is fantastic - just a 10 minute walk from the MTR, and surrounded by shops, grocers, take-aways and restaurants. We liked the big dining table and free use of the washing machine, but it was a little difficult to cook as we could only find one pan/cooking pot and a ladle. Also, there only seemed to be enough cups and cutlery for 2 guests even though the apartment sleeps 4.
Joe is very friendly, has excellent English and was keen to include us in his life while we were there. He took us out for street-food barbecue and snake soup, pointing out the local delicacies and best places in the immediate vicinity, and invited us to meet ups with other travellers.
We stayed at his condo for 3 nights. Yuen Long is 25 minutes away from Tsim Sha Tsui by MTR (Metro train) and by bus. If you are looking for the comfortable room in reasonable price and you are OK to stay a bit far away from downtown of Hong Kong, I recommend Joe's place rather than a crummy tiny hostel at Tsim Sha Tsui.
Hong Kong is one of the most expensive cities in the world so it was a relief to find a reasonably priced flat with a very friendly owner. Joe was kind enough to show us around and treated us very well. Subways in HK are quite fast and convenient and getting to DT from this apartment was no problem.
Besides, being one of Yoho Town's premier basketball stars, Joe Is also an excellent airbnb host. He accommodated us by showing us the best spots in town to eat and we enjoyed his company throughout our week long stay. His flat is comfortable and when the Internet went haywire, Joe came over and fixed it right away.
Not only, did Joe make our time in Hong Kong special, we also felt very safe in his flat. The individual rooms have locks. The air conditioner works. The bathroom is clean and has a good shower.
If your looking for a place in HK-skip Central and stay in Yoho Town at Joe's. You won't regret it.
Joe is a consummate host! He met us at the preset location and showed us around. The apartment exceeded our expectations. We look forward to staying again in the future.
Joe is a very nice host! I'm glad that I got one more night stay in another room. I will definitely consider Joe's the next time I travel to Hongkong!
