The Space

Studio Vives is a modern open plan self-catering apartment designed to be a comfortable base to explore the area, it is in the heart of the pretty village of Vives.

The apartment
Is designed to accommodate a couple or young family it can accommodate up to 3 adults The beds can be provided as a double super king size or twin single beds with the sofa bed providing a third bed.
Although equipped for self-catering we can provide a breakfast at a small additional cost. The ground floor apartment has its own private access via a small terrace to the front. It is located close to the boulodrome a pleasant communal shaded garden space ideal for relaxing with a book, glass of wine or of course having a game of Boule.
Parking is provided within the car park a short distance from the apartment.
Secure bicycle storage is available upon request.

The Village
Is home to a famous Catalonian restaurant and a good farmhouse cheese maker.
Is a mile from the bakery and the main road that runs along the Tech river valley from Argelès-sur-Mer, Collioure to Ceret and 3 mins to the junction of the main France Spain autoroute. The cities of Perpignan & Figueres are 30 mins drive, Girona & Bezier are 1hour, Montpellier and Barcelona 2 hours. Coastal resorts of Collioure, Argelès-sur-Mer, Saint-Cyprien are 30 minutes drive. Popular with those that know the area is the Plan d’Eau at the next village of Saint-Jean-Pla-de-Corts, (5mins). It is a very pleasant lake side park used for swimming, fishing, boating and general relaxation.
Vives is easy to get to either by car on the main French Spanish auto route, by the newly constructed TGV, or by the several airports that are approximately an hours travel time by car, that provide links to the UK and the rest of Europe. Ideally located to explore the Pyrenees Oriental and all it has to offer from Greek and Roman archeology to medieval villages & cities, with cafes, & markets & churches & castles from mountains & forests to Coast and beaches and from Modern art galleries to museums festivals & world class exhibitions & concerts. If you like walking, cycling, canyoning, bird watching, fishing, photography, or painting, touring by car or motorbike and even if you prefer to spend a day or two relaxing on a beach or the shore of a lake surrounded by mountains you will never be short of things to do or see.
The Pyrenees Oriental is in French Catalonia with the mountains on one side and the Mediterranean on the other and less than 10 miles to the south of the Spanish border so you also have easy access to explore the coast cities, cuisine Spanish Catalonian culture.
This area enjoys a great climate with over 300 day of sunshine per year. This climate is ideal for wine production combined with the fertile valleys and coastal plains make it the garden of Roussillon and is famous not only for its excellent wine but abundant harvests of flavorful sweet juicy fruit. It is heralded by the early harvest of cherries from Ceret and its famous cherry festival.

These are the reasons we relocated to area and we are keen to share with others and help them to enjoy what we have found.

  • Fantastic little studio in a wonderful part of France. The studio is modern and very clean and looks exactly like the photo's. The kitchen is fully equipped if you want to stay in and cook, but recommend eating out as the food in Languedoc is amazing. Definitely try the local restaurant - great food, massive portions, and complimentary muscat - if you can master the secret tradition! Ian left us some mineral water and Illy coffee which was a lovely surprise. A great place to stay.

    Merci Mr & Mme Round.

  • We had a lovely 3 night stay in Vivès! Ian was very welcoming and provided all the necessary information and some extra suggestions of things to do nearby. As well as a cosy evening in cooking dinner, we spent a day in Collioure at the market by the sea, and even went to Spain for dinner! The bed is very comfortable and the whole studio is clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend! Thank you Ian!

  • AMAZING! We LOVED Ian's cozy studio. Clean! Comfy! Quiet! Smelled nice! And so well organized with everything you need. And the village, well it is something to see. WOW! We could've easily stayed here for a month!

Ian is the perfect host. He's very friendly and helpful. He helped us with directions to local places to eat, and told us what to see in the area, he even provided maps and pamphlets. Be sure to listen to Ian's tips, he KNOWS the area well, he told us about a café in Cèret that was wonderful.

The studio has a comfortable bed with REAL pillows! Ian left us tea, coffee and water. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, it is very well organized. And the place is spotless!

This is a magical place and well worth coming to. It is close to so many great places to visit, and a quiet, cozy, safe retreat to come back to each evening. This is a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you Ian!

    Molt recomanable!!

I am a potter originally from Derbyshire but until we moved to France, home was in a small village near the middle of Hadrian's Wall. For a number of years we have enjoyed touring holidays in Europe and more usually in France. We stayed in many good B&Bs & gites but most lacked one or two elements that made them perfect. For example you are staying in a B&B or hotel and you fancy using some local produce to cook yourself something but you don’t have access to a kitchen, or you are staying in a holiday let & you don’t have access to WIFI or if on some days you wished there was an option of breakfast or a simple evening meals provided. We have used our experiences to make our ideal and comfortable base to enjoy your holiday while you visit & explore this very special part of the world. We can even provide itineraries, suggestions & recommendation of great days out from us and from previous visitors
