About This Listing
Located in the heart of Panama's banking and nightlife district, the 'Area Bancaria', Casa 81 is steps away from such landmark properties as the Marriott (1 block), Riu Hotel (1/2 block) and the major transportation thoroughfares (50th Street and Via Espana) of the city. Within a short walk you will find a wide variety of restaurants, casinos (Marriott, Veneto, Hotel Panama), nightclubs (Calle Uruguay area), banks, 24-hour supermarkets (El Rey) and pharmacies (Arrocha).
Unlike other areas where safety is a concern or where access requires a private vehicle (e.g. San Francisco, el Dorado), the financial district is both safe and extremely convenient to public transportation.
This listing is for one room with a queen-sized bed. The room has its own bathroom, TV with cable and there is free wifi access throughout the building.
Please note, breakfast is not included.
Upon reserving, please provide an approximate time of arrival. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee someone will be available to receive you. We can accommodate any arrival time as long as we know when to expect you.
If you need an additional room, see our other listings.
Please note - there is currently a construction in progress next to our property. They start work at 7am and continue until 5pm Monday through Friday. At times the noise levels can be high.
We are within easy access to the main nightlife areas (Calle Uruguay, Via Argentina) and an easy taxi ride to the colonial quarter (Casco Viejo) as well as the main shopping areas and the subway line (Iglesia del Carmen stop).
We are four blocks from Iglesia del Carmen subway stop.
My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights with Ramon and his family in their beautiful mid-century home in the banking district of Panama City. It is a relatively safe area within walking distance to El Cangrego and Bella Vista, two neighborhoods of the city with night life and restaurants. Taxis are abundant. There was some construction happening nearby and was audible from our room in the mornings; however, it wasn't that bad, and Ramon had warned us prior to our arrival. We enjoyed our stay! Thanks!
The room was very large and the property is located in a convenient location for a quick taxi to Casco Viejo. Ramon is very easy to communicate with and helpful.
Casa 81 was an awesome house, however, much to the anger of the owners, there is massive construction happening next door. Ramon emailed me about this way before I was supposed to stay there and gave me full disclosure that it may be loud early in the morning. I didn't think much of it and booked it anyway and although the construction was loud early AM, the beauty of the room, and the house in general, made it okay. It's also located in a great spot, walking distance to some cool restaurants and night spots in a very safe neighborhood. My GF and I didn't get to meet Ramon, but we did meet his mother and sister, both of whom spoke perfect English, and were very nice and accommodating. His sister offered us Rum and we had a fun conversation with her in the kitchen. I liked this place and hopefully the construction will be done in a few months. Keep in mind this is a private room with an awesome private bathroom, but the house does have other occupants.
This is a really great little hotel. It's in the financial district which is a little to fast paced for us but the room was great and and the hosts were very accommodating. There was very loud construction going on while we were there so sleeping in past 7am was not possible but if you are an early riser this would be a great spot to stay!
The best place to stay in Panama City!!! :) ... Ramon and his family (especially his mom and his brother Robert) are wonderful and very lovely hosts. They are very helpful with everything and show a great interest in the guests. The apartment is very unique and a little oasis in Panama's growing financial district. The location of the apartment is perfect to explore Panama City by foot or taxi. Our room was extraordinary clean and we felt in love with the two little, well behaving dogs.
Thank you very much for a fantastic and nothing-to-worry-about stay (3 nights)!

About the Host, Ramon
Lauren and Steven,
Thanks for your interest in Casa81. It would be a pleasure to host you.
A little about myself. I'm a Californian, raised in Panama and recently re-located to NYC. Well, more specifically, to Dumbo. I'm a consultant in the city and have now been here about 4 years. Although my girlfriend is a huge fan of Park Slope and we may move there in the near future. I bought a family home in Panama about 5 years ago and recently decided to turn it into a B&B. My Mom is the on-site manager and she has a 2-person staff who maintain the house and grounds. So far it's been a great experience and I've had some outstanding guests.
Let me know if there's anything you'd need in advance of your arrival and we'll be sure to provide.
