  • This cottage was just magical! The scenery is like a post card. We loved the place. The bed was fit for a king, and everything was very clean and cozy. The host was very pleasant to talk to and took care of all of our needs.

  • The farm is beautiful—about a mile off the nearest road; nestled against the Appalachian foothills; with cows and chickens and the sound of far-off train whistles—yet just a twenty minute drive from downtown Charlottesville. Coming from DC, I always marvel at the area's easy flow between urban and rural life. Colin's cottage typifies this balance right down to its decor. It has a charming mix of modern art and fine antiques, all housed in a little wood-sided, wood-shingled home with a big, old screened porch. If you have the chance to visit Charlottesville, stay here. It will make an otherwise "nice" trip truly unforgettable.

  • The cottage is absolutely wonderful. We had an amazing time here for the two nights that we stayed. The cottage is right on a farm and is peaceful and relaxing. It's the type of place you'd want to have when writing a book or doing some large artistic project. The bed is comfortable, the heat works well and the washer and dryer was very convenient to have. I would highly recommend staying here and will do so in the future.

  • The cottage was great! It had everything my wife and I needed for the weekend, including items typical of hotels (e.g., shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, Q-tips, razors & shave gel), which you do not always find with cottage rentals. The owner was extremely responsive, flexible, and courteous.

  • Colin's farmhouse cottage is a cozy and tranquil place to stay not far from Charlottesville, Monticello and Virginia wine country. The cottage is one of several structures (stable house, main house, another cottage) that sit on 500 acres of beautiful farmland. The space is homey and comfortable: great bed, a good shower, a cozy sitting area and a front porch with two rockers looking out on beautiful rolling pasture of grazing cows. The eat-in country kitchen is fully equipped for making meals and has nice touches like a French press coffee maker. Also, there's "Ziggy." On our first morning, I looked out on the porch to find a tiny terrier wagging her tail waiting to welcome the new arrivals. On our last day there, she came back to say goodbye. We were charmed! Colin was a great host, very friendly and generous of his time in giving us site-seeing advice. We went in spring when the redbuds were in bloom everywhere. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return if staying in the area.

About
I love a great book, playing outside and ending the day spending time with great friends with a glass of good wine. While I enjoy the farm life, I also love Paris, New York and just about anywhere in an vibrant setting full of arts, things to learn and sites to see. Give a knock on the door and tell me about yourself or slip away into a quiet and private escape, the choice is yours!
