Was a great new year eve in Al,s house.
The place was very clean and Al is a pretty nice person. It was a pleasure to spend a time in this place. My family and I spent 3 nights at Al's place and we all loved the experience. His backyard is good for the children as well. It is quiet, very warm, no need to bring extra blankets. Amazing location, right at San Francisco Park and with an easy access to everywhere, well-equipped apartment. We felt very safe here, feels like home in the Big City! The apartment is as described. Friendly neighbors and neighborhood. I strongly recommend this place.
I reserved the "sleeps 6 including Parking, W and D" property for my family who was visiting from out of town. The property looks like it does in the pictures, however I think it's best suited for a maximum of four people as the property is more of an 'in-law" unit and it's small in size. The bedroom has two double beds that take up majority of the space, and the living room area has a futon which could sleep two people, but there's only one bathroom and everyone would be tripping all over one another if we were at full capacity.
I did not stay at the property but my mother said the place was dirty. She said the bathtub and the floors were filthy, however she also is a neat freak so if there's a spot on the counter then that means the place is filthy.
In regard to dealing with the host he was very quick to respond to any inquiries I may have had, and he even allowed me to have a later check-out. In addition, this property is in a very quiet and safe neighborhood and there are plenty of amenities nearby as well as public transit which can take you to may points of interest. I would recommend reserving this property.
the location was great and directly on a bus stop. You need 30 minutes to get in the city with the bus, but it's easy and you don't need to worry about parking spots.
Unfortunately the 2 rooms were not that clean. There was dust all over the corners and the entrance hall smelled really bad.
Al answered all our questions directly and gave us a discount since we booked last minute which was really nice.
The aparment is situated in a quiet neighborhood well comunicated by public transport with the tourist places. The aparment was clean and spacious, with a good bathroom and a kitchen with facilities, the only thing is that it only has 4 chairs, and we are 6. Al responded quickly to our emails. It was a good experience
Great location in a great, quiet (the nights were truly dead quiet) neighborhood. The kitchen, bathroom & washing facilities were all up to par or better.
The appartment was to come with a car, but it had totalled the week prior to our stay. This was eventually very correctly handled by Airbnb and the host via a generous refund.
This was a great rental. We had access to a two car garage (We had a Lancer and a Fit). Street parking didn't require a permit. We slept 8 people just fine with a couple of air mattresses. The kitchen was stocked alright for size of the place. We had pots, pans, and cooking utensils for basic cooking. There were a good amount of plates and bowls as well. It is good location near mass transit and many places to eat within a few blocks. The place was clean when we arrived and appeared to be well maintained. The shower had great pressure and remained hot throughout everyone's showers (8 people's showers). Backyard is small but nice. Al responded to all messages very quickly and without any run around. All of us had an amazing time here.
Communication was great. Al responded quickly.
The apt was a bit smaller than I expected. Upon booking we thought there would be 2 rooms, but actually it was one bedroom and a living room with a futon. The beds were pretty comfortable. Our friends staying in the living room had complaints about the futon not being very comfortable.
Apt was clean and had plenty of closet space. There were plenty of towels and blankets. The street was quiet and parking was not an issue at all. (I expected it to be based on some reviews.)
Overall a good experience. There weren't really any instructions on what to do with the trash and there wasn't a dishwasher, but with the cleaning fee I just assumed we didn't need to worry too much.
The apartment was clean when we arrived and looked just like on the pictures. The location is great.
But there are multiple problems here… We had set a time for our arrival, and we were there on time. But after ringing the bell, we only got a confused answer from a woman (I still have no idea who she was) who gave us the code to a lock near the door in which we found the keys to the apartment. Inside: no word on nothing, not even a simple “welcome”. No indication whatsoever on how things work or on the nearby pharmacies, cafes, market, restaurants etc.
I had to email Al to get the wifi network name and code. To his credit he answered pretty fast and the wifi was ok.
We soon found out minimalism is the word here: Not enough utensils for 4 people. No bowls, one knife. No scissors, no bottle opener. A toaster, but it doesn’t work properly (you need to hold the trigger down to toast bread). No sink plug – good luck with cleaning the dishes. No measuring cups, no strainer for pastas. Let’s be honest: you won’t be able to cook here. That’s too bad because when you rent an apartment to travel with kids, it’s usually to be able to cook and not go to the restaurant every night.
A television, but no DVD player (with young kids, this is a problem). I didn’t think that was such a big problem because I had brought things to watch on a USB drive. But the television’s remote control doesn’t work so I couldn’t navigate the menus to read what’s on my drive. (We tried changing the batteries but that wasn’t the problem). Nothing to clean up the place.
Nothing to iron clothes. My wife was giving a talk at a conference so that was a problem. No washer/dryer – I called Al about this because the ad said these were included. He wasn’t very talkative but he said they were in the garage (locked) and that we had to call him if we wanted to use them – not very convenient, the last thing you want when you visit a city is to set a meeting to do the laundry...
Overall, this is definitely not a place I would recommend, especially for a family with children.
