Lotus Rice Field Villa Pool Wifi

Villa - Entire home/apt · Jalan Nyuh Kuning, Ubud, Bali 80571, Indonesia

Beautiful one bedroom house in the rice fields with a beautiful two tiered pool, wifi, security, kitchen, and friendly neighbors, all located in the coolest neighborhood of Ubud, Nyuh Kuning Village. Close to the Monkey Forest and Hubud.

The Space

Stunning private one bedroom villa with large bathroom and kitchen. Surrounded by rice fields with two porches and a nice green hammock for the classic Ubud outdoor living. Comes with hot water, wifi, full time staff for daily cleaning and maintenance. Large porch with great lighting in front and back. Kitchen to cook up whatever you want! Free drinking water, tea, and coffee the whole time--there is a great water filter in the kitchen so you can take a break from all of those plastic bottles. It's that romantic little villa in Ubud you have been dreaming of! I

Brand new furniture from antique teak wood and a large bathroom too. The pool is shared between the five houses and is very lovely. It's all part of a larger complex with friendly expats from around the world and an awesome Balinese landlord that manages the place great. You will feel right at home, and there is 24 hour security. I also include a local cell phone with important numbers programmed in like restaurants that deliver, drivers, our lovely massage lady, and emergency calls. It's all to make your stay as easy and happy as possible here. I can arrange airport pick up and drop off for you. Ideal for artists, musicians, yogis, travelers, and people looking for a little break from it all. LGBTQ+ friendly. Not suitable for children under the age of 12.

Nyuh Kuning is a wonderful, quite village located right behind the Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest. No one trying to sell you things or offering "transport". Just a relaxed happy village. It was voted Bali's cleanest for 2012 and is home to about 300 families. It is about 1km from "downtown" Ubud. This way you get a quiet village experience but are in striking distance of the shopping and restaurants Ubud is famous for. It's about a 1.5km walk to the Yoga Barn for those coming here for yoga. You can rent a motorbike right from here for five dollars a day.

There are lots of restaurants and cultural activities located here. Our Villa is a hidden gem in the rice fields with wonderful, helpful staff. It is located right across the street from Bumi Sehat Birthing Clinic for those interested in volunteering or visiting there. There is a dog and some cute cats here, so it's good if you like animals.

Interaction with Guests

I lived in this compound for four years before moving into a new house close by so I could foster more puppies, but I am often around and always just one phone call away to fix anything or chat. I love to meet new people and share what I know about Ubud and Bali so you can have a fun and unique time here. The staff is there all day to attend to anything you need and the landlord keeps the place secure 24 hours a day.

The Neighborhood

Nyuh Kuning is the best neighborhood in Ubud! It is often voted the cleanest in Indonesia, and it has successfully kept it's traditional core while adapting to tourism and hotel businesses here.

Getting around

This is directly on the other side of the Monkey Forest from town, which gives you a break from Ubud's busy downtown.

Other Things to Note

The pool is unattended and has no barrier so it's not a good fit here for little children.

  • A beautiful spot, clean, with a friendly staff. Sue was very helpful. We loved the pool after a hot day in Ubud. Construction, about which we were warned, might be a deterrent to some. Looks like it will be going on through Sept. 2014. Needed to use our cellphones as flashlights to navigate the lanes from the road to the compound at night. Nyuh Kuning is a quiet area with some fine restaurants and shops. Bring soap.

  • Would definitely stay there again! A charming villa nestled in a neighborhood with great local eats and a mere few minutes stroll to town. Love the tranquility and yet soulful energy of the place. One could simply chill amidst the rice paddy field and be transported to a totally different world: away from the harried city landscape and instead greeted by soulful chanting from nearby temple. And the amazing sounds of nature is priceless! A gem :)

  • My partner and I really enjoyed our stay in Ubud. Unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to meet Sue but everything was so well organised this wasn't an issue at all. We were picked up at the airport and driven direct to the villa by a driver organised by Sue which made our introduction to Bali safe, easy and friendly. Sue had left in our room an information guide to Bali which luckily we didn't have to use but it was very reassuring knowing what to do should we run into any trouble with the authorities or get sick etc.

Loka Pala is a beautiful place, it was peaceful and scenic even with the construction being done on the villa opposite ours. Our room was beautiful and clean and the mosquito net canopy over the bed was a nice touch. Ubud was by far the nicest place we visited in Bali and the area we stayed in was the nicest part of Ubud. I didn't experience any culture shock the whole place was beautiful, relaxing and I felt incredibly safe and comfortable here. The people were nice, friendly and respectful and the animals kept mostly to themselves.

I would highly recommend staying here and hope to visit again. If you do visit definitely use Wayan Oka as your driver while you stay there he is the best!

  • We spent a great week at Sue's place. Quiet, relaxed place in a great location. Convenient for the town, excellent restaurants close by. Large kitchen with all the utensils we needed which made eating-in easy. Clean, with excellent maid service. Would stay again!

  • Sue was an incredible host. Even before I placed a booking, she went out of her way to answer all my queries. She was forthcoming in letting us know about the construction work nearby, before we paid for our stay. Once at the villa, we were very well taken care off. We had a mobile phone at our disposal, with information on restaurants/bike rentals/massages among others. The staff took good care of the place, and cleared & cleaned the room every day. The property in itself is very spacious, with bean bags & a hammock for you to laze around in. Friendly neighbours (dogs & cats included!) made for a great travel experience.

  • We had a wonderful time in Ubud. Sue was a great help even though she was on the other side of the planet, literally. She provided a reasonable priced driver that picked us up and we learnt a lot about the city and the culture from him.
Sue even let us know that there was some construction going on before we book. So we felt like we had all the information we needed all the time. She didn't mention that construction was by hand, so if she hadn't told us we would hardly have know they where there.

The pictures of the place don't do it justice. It was so lovely and we almost regretted stay so much in Ubud when we could spent more time in our room.
It is a little walk to get from the Villa to the north part of Ubud, but not to bad. If you are going grocery shopping in the large "mall" remember to bring a backpack. Makes it easier to carry and the monkey won't get to interested. Going through Monkey forrest to get there was actually a big plus as the wildlife and the trees there are stunning. We also walk to Yoga Barn to have a few classes there. We recommend that as well.

We would recommend staying there and would gladly do it again. While in Ubud we saw a lot of other accommodations and often praised our luck for booking the Villa.

  • Loca Pala Villa was in a great location (Nyuh Kuning) because it was an easy walk in to Ubud through the Monkey Forest (or along the track), past a good place to have breakfast (Coffee and Copper) on the way to the Yoga Barn. Then back to the villa for a swim after the exercise. Bliss. The Villa was very spacious, well equipped, well maintained, and looked out over rice paddies and had a lovely pool to cool off in. An added attraction to being a bit out of Ubud is that it was quiet at night and in the morning. There were plenty of restaurants an easy walking distance from the villa, but I went to the little warung (d’warung) around the corner for meals: it was excellent, well priced with good Balinese food and friendly staff. One hint though- pack a torch because at night it is way too dark to see any footpath hazards on the walk back to the villa from the restaurants. Sue was a great host, she met me on arrival and showed me around. She recommended a local woman to do massages who was very good and came to the villa. The wifi was fast and efficient too. I had a lovely stay at the villa so would recommend it as an excellent place to stay in Ubud.

  • In my 20 years of going to Bali, this was one of the most enjoyable trips. Wanted a bit of solitude for a few days, which I got, along with a file full of food delivery places, but was also great to have a few beers with the gang one night. Great place, great vibe!

About
I've been living in Ubud for a while and I'm completely in love with it. I'm a friendly American from Washington DC with many visitors coming in and out. I'm into learning and experiencing everything I can about Indonesia, the islands of Bali and Sulawesi in particular, and I'd be so happy to share any of that with you and make your stay as pleasant as possible. Looking forward to meeting you!
