Can't wait to host you
We'd appreciate a message & please say hello *before* you make your reservation request... It'll help speed things up, and smooth things out...
See below (hint hint)
G'Day from Vinh & Stuart in Sydney!
Thanks for coming to check out our listing :)
We have another btw... http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12351 if this one is unavailable. It's called "Sydney City & Harbour at the door"; a queen bed in our second bedroom.
This is not a business, or a hotel, or a B&B... We're casual Airbnb hosts, not hoteliers. This is our home. We live here. You'll not be renting an empty apartment. We're pretty relaxed hosts, and as Sydney's #1 hosts we play an active part in the Airbnb community, but we fully appreciate staying with someone else, in their home home, is not for every-one. We get it, our place isn't for everyone. So we won't be offended if you leave this listing (there's plenty of other great Airbnb listings that don't offer a hosted experience to choose from).
As we were among the first Airbnb'ers in Australia (travellers + hosts) we've developed quite an extensive profile based on all the guest questions we've answered over the years. Reading through the description to the end (hint hint), and the "House Rules", will mean you'll find all the important information you need to make your Sydney Airbnb stay a fantastic one.
Feel free to send us a message with any question you have about us, our home, Pyrmont, Sydney, or Airbnb... We'd love to hear from you! :D

Couple of things you do need to know before you book:
--> Because the house is on three levels, and the stairs are steep, we wouldn't recommend the property for people who like to travel with lots of luggage, big people, people with any mobility issues, or for children.
--> We also have a little dog (a Pomeranian), so again, not recommended for those with allergies or aversions.
--> Please send us a message & have a chat with us BEFORE you make your reservation request
--> Please only make a reservation request for the exact (and complete) dates that you require. You can use the calendar on our listing to see our availability month by month. If the dates you require are not showing as available on that calendar, it's because we're booked for those dates...
--> Our arrival time is 6pm. Please see the "Other Things to Note" for more information about arrival times / check in / bag drop details, etc. Best to chat with us about your intended arrival time BEFORE you make a reservation request.
--> We're much more likely to accept requests from Airbnb'ers with profiles, friends, & recommendations, etc. In the same way you feel more comfortable knowing more about the people you're staying with, we do too.
Please just send us a message if you've any questions about staying with us, or visiting Sydney.
Now here's the most important bit:
** Please use the code words; "Five Star Stay" when you message us about your reservation - it lets us know you've read this information and are ready for a fantastic hosted experience with us in our Sydney City home.
Can't wait to meet you!
Vinh & Stuart
Well done for reading this far!
Most people don't :(
Sorry, this is so long, but we know we've answered all your questions now.
And remember to use the code words; "Five Star Stay" in your message.
Our house is your house - we're not a hotel, it's our home.
We look forward to welcoming you to stay you just as we would our family and friends.
We'll provide you with a code for the door with easy (and secure) access, so you can come and go as you please.
We work from home, so there's generally always someone around.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you like.
We'll be home when you stay, and generally around & about if and when you need us.
Pyrmont is an inner-city village of Sydney, only about 2kms from the Sydney CBD (Central Business District) / Core, right next door to Darling Harbour and Chinatown.
Pyrmont has a relaxed community feel with an inner city vibe.
Pyrmont is only about 2kms (10 - 15 mins walk) from the centre of Sydney with an extensive range of local restaurants, wine bars, and pubs. There's some seriously good baristas and cafes right close to our home (Go and say hi to Damien & Tim at Bar Zini - it's one of our local faves).
There's five star fine dining right through to greasy-spoon takeaways with some of Australia's finest dining restaurants within easy reach.
* Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay
* Exhibition and Convention Centres
* Pyrama Point Park
* Jones Bay Wharf
* The Star (Casino) with Food Halls, Bars, and the Lyric Theatre
* Powerhouse Museum
* National Maritime Museum
Also (back on the food - notice a theme?):
* Best little grocer/fromagerie in Sydney (Simon Johnson's)
* Also a great wine-merchant (and craft beers) on the end of our street
* Fantastic deli Signorelli Gastronomia round the corner
* Food stores, grocery, and supermarkets
* Pyrmont Growers Market 1st Saturday monthly; farm direct & artisan foodies.
Pyrmont was once a thriving industrial waterfront / working port area with ship-building, factories and wool-stores. Over the last decade there's been a considerable influx of new residents and commercial / residential development that has transformed the area into a trendy mix of inner city residents and commercial HQs. For example Goo gle has their Sydney office, the "Goo gleplex" just down the road, as is Fairfax Media, NOKIA, and the Seven Network (TV). Media Production houses, boutique cable TV channels, etc.
The UTS (University of Technology) campus, the ABC's Ultimo headquarters (Australia's National Broadcaster), the Sydney Convention Centre, and the Sydney Entertainment Centre, are all within walking distance. Sydney University is about 20 minutes walk away (only 10 mins in a cab or bus).
Eat, Drink, and be merry:
Being ex-restaurateurs we'd be more than happy to point you in the right direction for a great meal in Sydney. And there's plenty on tap too. You can't walk more than a block in any direction without walking into the front bar of a local pub, or a wine bar, or a great cafe, or restaurant…
To give you an idea, there's 9 of Sydney's top 10 restaurants within easy walking distance:
* Momofuku Seiobo
* Rockpool Bar & Grill
* The Bridge Room
And there's plenty of local colour and great tastes whatever your price point or culinary favourite. With a full range of cafes and restaurants in between, right through to the cheap & cheerful Harry's Cafe de Wheels (a late night Sydney institution), Noodle King, and all the vibrant offerings of Chinatown there's no end of options... Modern Australian, Persian, Goan, Japanese, Indonesian, Malay, Italian, Indian... All at our door
Must do's (our local faves) in Pyrmont include:
* Bar Zini
* Blue Eye Dragon
* Le Trader
* Social Brew
* Made in Italy
* Vrindavan Indian Restaurant
* Hannah's Pies
* Pioik Bakery
* Flying Fish
* Signorelli Gastronomia
* The Apprentice
* Persian Room
* BLACK by Ezzard
* Cafe Morso
* Little Monk
Get the idea? (and we haven't even hit Chinatown yet!)
Pyrmont is really close to the Sydney CBD and the other inner city villages:
* An easy 10 minute walk into the city centre
* Shopping: QVB, TGV, etc… "Lacroix Sweetie Lacroix"
* Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House, and BridgeClimb
* King Street Wharf
* Museum of Contemporary Art
* Art Gallery of NSW
* Sydney Museum
* Hyde Park
* Botanic Gardens
* Chinatown, Paddy's Markets, and the Chinese Gardens
* Surry Hills
* The historic Rocks area
* Kings Cross
* CarriageWorks Famers Markets @ Eveleigh every Saturday
* Pyrmont Farmer Markets 1st Saturday of the month
Our home is centrally located and an easy walk to everywhere (everywhere you want to go anyways). We also have easy access to trams (light-rail), trains, and ferries which are all conveniently a few minutes walk away.
Transport options are great:
There's a bus, the 389, pretty much at our doorstep every 10 minutes. It goes into the City Centre and all the way to Bondi Beach and on to North Bondi - Doesn't get better than that!
Trams ("light-rail") every 12 minutes. - Central Station, Fish Markets, The Star, Chinatown, Glebe - Central to Dulwich Hill.
Ferries from Pyrmont Bay, Darling Harbour and Circular Quay are a great way to explore.
Trains from Town Hall, Central, and Wynyard. A main Sydney City (Town Hall) train station is only 10-15 minutes walk away. Central Station is 15 - 20 minutes walk (5 mins by bus or tram).
The international and Domestic airports are only about 15 - 20 minutes drive away (longer during traffic peaks), again, all easily accessible by public transport too.
We'll send you maps and full details when we confirm your booking.
Other Things to Note
Vinh Van Lam & Stuart Horrex are the cofounders of CoSydney - Sydney CoWorking + Enterprise Accelerator in the Chippendale Creative Precinct (Chippendale is another of Sydney's inner city villages).
Feel free to check out the ArtSHINE Gallery, and meet the CoSydney CoWorking community while you're here too. Ask Vinh & Stuart and we can arrange some free coworking time if you need to do some work while you're away from home.
We've a few reasons for the 6.00pm arrival time / check in / bag drop time... One of them is that we're really flexible with check out times. :)
While we do work from home, we don't particularly want to broadcast on the internet if we are away from home. That's why our arrival time is always listed as 6pm. Our "check in" / "arrival time" / "bag drop" is all the same thing. It's not like we're a hotel with a team of porters waiting to take your bags any time of the day or night whether we're at home or not. So, if we haven't agreed some alternate arrangements, then we look forward to welcoming you to our home at 6.00pm.
While we may be able to arrange some arrival times / bag drops / check ins earlier, we do need to make those arrangements well in advance. So if the 6.00pm check in time isn't your preference, please talk to us about it *before* you make your reservation. :)
We look forward to welcoming you to stay you just as we would our family and friends.
"Farm Gate Rules" - if a door is open, leave it open, if a door is closed, please leave it closed. We ask that you always close the gates behind you (our little dog is an escape artist - while he's been very slow learning how to pick the locks, leaving the gate open makes it much too easy for him to get away and find himself in all sorts of mischief).
We'd ask that you'd please not eat in your room, or smoke inside the house. We've a kitchen and dining room for meals (and of course, feel free to use the fridge) and a sheltered, undercover area outside that you're more than welcome to use if you smoke.
We tend to work from home, meet clients in our home office, and work by phone too. So this means that our home would be better suited to guests wanting to be out sightseeing during the day, rather than spending the days inside. (But why would you want to stay inside all day when there's so much to see and do anyway?)
Every experience we've ever had with Airbnb has been a positive one. Whether we've been hosting, or staying as guests, we've met kind & considerate people, had interesting conversations, and made great new acquaintances & friends.
We don't imagine you'll be any different, and we look forward to welcoming you into our home.
From Dec 19, 2016 - Jan 06, 2017 the minimum stay is 5 nights.
