DOWNTOWN IS MINUTES AWAY: Only 2 miles to the Metro Rail & immediate access to Mopac and Hwy 183 also means it is a quick boot-scoot to all of the Music Capital of the World's offerings: ACL, 6th Street, SXSW, Barton Springs, F1 Circuit of the Americas, Austin Convention Center, and much more!
Shopping is a breeze! You are less than a mile away from the Domain shopping center which offers impeccable restaurants and luxury shops anchored by Neiman Marcus, Macys and Dillards and walking distance from the newly opened HUGE Whole Foods! You are also only 5 miles away from movie theaters, grocery stores as well as restaurants, & coffee shops.
Are you a visiting medical professional? I am minutes away from Seton Northwest, Austin Diagnostic Clinic and a host of others medical facilities. And, attention IBM interns! I am within walking distance!
About Your Host...I am a recently retired teacher and a fresh Empty Nester (my son just completed his freshman at Texas Tech University).
I am so excited about this new chapter and love the freedom it affords me. I enjoy quiet evenings at home with friends and family, watching tv and having a glass of wine.
My Pets: I have a goofy and incredibly sweet Labradoodle named "Abby" (you can trust her to guard "the kingdom" but never trust her to guard your sandwich!) and I have also "inherited" my sons ferret, "Ron" who has one paw on the Rainbow Bridge and spends most of the day sleeping.
I have lived in this house for over 25 years and would never think of moving! It is a quiet and safe neighborhood and I have fabulous neighbors. You will feel like you are home when staying here!
Your accommodations are equipped with a full size bed and dresser, television (in your room as well as the living area), free, high speed WI-FI, and AT&T Uverse + private tub/shower bathroom, fresh towels & linens, and access to a washer & dryer. You will have access to the kitchen, utensils, dishes, cooking pans, and coffee maker. Deck and gas grill are available as well. You may also use the 2nd refrigerator if you want to buy your own groceries.
Interaction with Guests
I treat my airbnb guests like family and would love to share a meal or 2 with you during your stay!
I love that my neighbors look out for me. Ronald, Lynnette, Dennis, Kathy, Mr. & Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Heard, and the Gentry's, the young couple who just moved in across the street! Best street ever!
Sadly, Austin doesn't offer much in the way of mass transit this far north. There is a train that will take you downtown 2 miles from my house and I can drop you off and pick you up on occasion.
Other Things to Note
I have 2 rooms that I rent out on airbnb, so it is possible that you may be sharing the bathroom with another guest.
Absolutely no drugs!
No parties. Unless I am included. :-)
You may smoke on the deck, but please use the ash trays. (I will dump them.)
Be respectful & considerate of my neighbors....especially if you are on the deck. Sound does travel!
No extra guests.
Please be respectful of my internet access...no illegal downloads.
Have a wonderful time in Austin!
Me and my fiance stayed about a month in Laura's house .... Everything was perfect !!!
The house is very comfortable .... Abby is a sweet .... Laura helped us a lot .... gave us a ride several times, took us shopping, had dinner together several days .... I just loved it !!!
I'll stay a year in Austin and would be happy to stay all the time in Laura's house but had to rent an apartment because my family and friends have a trip scheduled to visit us ....
I could not have done better choice and recommend !!!!
The room is exactly like the picture, super comfortable. The shower is also wonderful ....
I thank Laura for having received us so well !!!!
Laura was quite a gracious host. She made me feel right at home! The room was just as pictured - cute, cozy, and clean. The bath was clean and was spacious. She let me use her dishes, dishwasher, fridge in the garage, and even her laundry room! The neighborhood is quiet and near a lot of things - right in between Mopac and Research Blvd. so it has easy access to get around the city.
We had a lovely warm welcome and stay at Laura's home, we would recommend it to anyone visiting Austin. Thank you Laura and family for your hospitality, you were all great.
Laura was the best! She welcomed me with open arms, and I felt instantly at home. Her home was clean, and I really enjoyed the SOFT sheets. I stayed at Laura's place during F1 weekend and she couldn't have been more flexible with dropping or picking me up from the train station. I really had a great time, and can't wait to stay at my away from home.
Thank you Laura
Luv ya, and see you soon.
My boyfrend and I came in from out of town and stayed with Laura for two days.
She was a fantastic hostess! She made sure that we had all that we needed, and when we were at her place and we felt like we were staying with a good friend.
I think that I should note: We had some issues with the website and things getting a little mixed up with certain details, but Laura was so accommodating to our situation and she still made sure that we were taken care of.
She's a lovely lady with a lovely home, and we will definitely keep her in mind the next time that we are in Austin.
Laura invites you into her home with a genuine welcoming spirit!
I felt completely at home while there. She is mindful of privacy, but willing to share her love and knowledge of anything Austin, from neighborhood walks to downtown insider info! Her location is great for anything north, and easy access to all other areas! Thank you Laura for your friendship, for willingness to share your home , and for being the best intro to my new adventure in Austin!

I am a newly retired teacher, having taught almost 30 yrs in Austin ISD, AND a brand new "empty nester" and am looking forward to this amazing new chapter in life. I recently started my new business: Mind Blown Learning which offers tutoring, educational consulting and tech/science/math summer camps for kids. I have also been a performer in the Austin theatre scene for the past 30 years. Currently, I am the president of Zilker Theatre Productions, a non-profit organization which produces the beloved Zilker Summer Musical each year at the Beverly S. Sheffield Theater in iconic Zilker Park. (One of my pictures was taken on closing night of the 2013 production of Little Shop Of Horrors). I have 2 "children": a daughter who got married in January and a son who is a freshman at Texas Tech. I live on the best street in North Austin. I know my neighbors. I helped raise some of their children and they helped raise mine. We watch out for each other and keep track of neighborhood activities.
