“Napualanilehua”, Hawaiian for “Heavenly Lehua Blossom”, will serve your vacation needs to a level not customarily felt at vacation rentals.
Sitting at a cool 2400’ elevation, where nights can get down to the 40s and warming up to the comfortable low 80s during the days,
Napualanilehua is ideally situated 20 minutes away (17 miles) from Hilo town and 20 minutes away (16 miles) from the world renowned Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Only about 5 minutes off the main highway, Napualanilehua is beautifully located on the back of a ¼ acre of land, in a small subdivision. Nestled within a ohia and waivi forest, Napualanilehua has a large inviting covered deck overlooking a huge front yard where kids could play all day.
Watch the adjacent forest for native Hawks during the day. In the evening, enjoy the uncountable amount of stars and cool clear nights.

When possible, fresh flower arrangements are purchased from local farmers. Fresh fruit that awaits your arrival is hand picked by us the morning of your arrival, available from the many local farmers markets. Napualanilehua even provides sample Kona coffee blends. As our list continues to expand, we hope you find the local products very exciting.
If you are looking for a place to detach from the rush of normal life, or if you are looking for a convenient location on your vacation that is central to many fine activities, Napualanilehua would be a great pick.
Thank you for joining us on your vacation needs!
When you book Napualanilehua, you are not booking a "shared" space. You will have access to the entire rental.
Interaction with Guests
We at Napualanilehua want to give our guests their space on vacation. We live about 15 minutes away in Keaau town, and is always available by phone. If any situation arises during your stay, we personally will see to it.
Napualanilehua is located in a very small, yet developing subdivision. We think the location, although very close to the main highway, is still far enough detached from city life, to promote a real tranquil vacation.
On site parking is available for guests traveling with a vehicle. The Big Island, being as rural is it can get, is very limited with public transportation. Although the county bus system does stop in front of the subdivision, it is not a very effective way of transportation.
Other Things to Note
Please note: As with about 80% of the Big Island, Napualanilehua is served by a water catchment system. For everyones safety, we do not recommend drinking the water from the kitchen tap.
For drinking water, Napualanilehua does provide potable water from a county source for your drinking needs.
It is always Napualanilehua's commitment to provide guest with the best service and vacation experience available.
Aloha, and welcome to Napualanilehua. Napualanilehua, Hawaiian for “Heavenly Lehua Blossom”, is more than a name, but is a symbol that represents our vacation rental. At Napualanilehua, we strive to provide more than just a place to relax after a fun filled day. We hope your stay at Napualanilehua is memorable.

The house is really unique in a very special place in the middle of the rainforest. Few miles from Hilo or Kanapala or the Volcanoes national park. Very conveniently located. We enjoyed a very friendly welcome with Hawaiian music, a basket of fruit and many other little attentions. The house is spacious, and very confortable. The Coqui frogs start to sing at dawn and offer a funny concert.
We had a lovely stay at Napualanilehua. A bit off the road but well worth it.
Fresh fruit on arrival was a pleasant surprise. Small guiding notes throughout the house made it all very easy.
Clean and quiet. Very nice.
We loved the experience at Napualanilehua! It is in a quiet, rural, jungle-like setting near Volcano National Park. But the accommodations were great with lots of nice touches from the owners (fruit basket, Hawaiian music, filtered water). The combo door lock was super-convenient, as we could arrive when we wanted without having to meet anyone. This was a great place to retreat—isolated yet only about 10 minutes from services and 25 minutes from Hilo.
Although off the beaten track, but well worth the find... A great place to stay with less traffic and the hustle and bustle of city life. Look into the sky and count the stars at night and listen to the croqui frogs chirp you to bed. It's a wonderful experience!
The house is big enough for a family and quaint enough for just one. Fresh local fruits, a water dispenser and music awaits your arrival. You'll want to stay longer. Bring your own ingredients and all the spices needed to cook your own meals. Pots, pans, dishes, bowls, forks, spoons, knives and cooking utensil provided, in addition to a full sized refrigerator with separate freezer. The bathroom even has Q-tips (or similiar) ,should you need a few.
If your luggage should get lost, don't dispair, the house even provides a bathrobe or double as a night robe.
The shower is easy to turn on...just pull the knob towards you and adjust the hot/cold water.
Even in the summer of June...the nights were cold...we slept with all windows closed...during the day you want to open the windows for the fresh air. Clean carpeted floors allow you to want to hang out in the spacious and not too cluttered living room. Leaving your outside foot wear outside the house, entices you to just lay on the carpet and watch TV, listen to music, read a book or just lounge.
Don't expect too much view...much of the area is still not fully developed...so enjoy the sunshine and the forest right in your back yard...LOVE that feeling.
Why stay in a hotel when you can experience with Napualanilehua?
We look forward to the next opportunity...book now to guarantee your future stay.
No keys to loose or share..you just have to remember your secret passcode. Want to see the Kilauea volcano...its just a 15 minutes drive away...like open markets full of fresh fruits and vegetables, ready made meals and more...a must to go at the Makuu open market...every Sundays...a 25 minute drive away...or the Hilo open market...45 minutes away...so much to see...so much to do..and when the day is over..can't wait to come home to Napualanilehua. Don't let the croqui frogs melodious sounds taint your stay...
But you must have a vehicle to stay here...otherwise its a LONG, LONG walk.
ICHI Ban.... Hen hao...Mahalo
Fantastic!! The house was exactly as described and shown. Fresh embroidered towels, fresh bowl of fruit, toiletries, sat tv to name a few. My GF and I had to arrive a day earlier and stay a day later and Taylor and Lehua were able to accommodate easily. The house was immaculate, clean, and located less than 5 mins from the hwy yet surrounded by jungle where you could hear a pin drop sitting on the porch. 20 mins from Hilo and 10 mins from Volcano park. A fresh water cooler provided ample drinking water. We absolutely loved it here !
It was a nice place to stay in the forest. Being close to volcano national park is a big plus. Bring your own water, however, since you can't drink the tap water there.
About the Host, Taylor & Lehua
Born and raised in Hawaii, we both enjoy and live with the Aloha Spirit. It is an everyday part of our lives.
During our free time, we both enjoy traveling. With family on other islands, we spend a lot of time visiting other islands and enjoying what it has to offer.
It was during our traveling, and staying in places offered on Airbnb, that we decided to open up our rental to vacationing people. We both have enjoyed the interaction and communications we have received from guests. Our rentals are fully stocked, and as we travel, we take notes on what else we can offer. Therefore, our rentals are evolving over time, and constantly being updated with new ideas.
Please, join us at our rental. And when we travel, we would love to one day join you again at yours.
