Napualanilehua, Hawaiian for "Heavenly Lehua Blossom" .

This 2 bedroom, 1 bath home is nestled within a forest setting, and is available all to yourself.

Napualanilehua is conveniently located within 20 minutes of Hawaii Volcano National Park.

The Space

“Napualanilehua”, Hawaiian for “Heavenly Lehua Blossom”, will serve your vacation needs to a level not customarily felt at vacation rentals.

Sitting at a cool 2400’ elevation, where nights can get down to the 40s and warming up to the comfortable low 80s during the days,

Napualanilehua is ideally situated 20 minutes away (17 miles) from Hilo town and 20 minutes away (16 miles) from the world renowned Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Only about 5 minutes off the main highway, Napualanilehua is beautifully located on the back of a ¼ acre of land, in a small subdivision. Nestled within a ohia and waivi forest, Napualanilehua has a large inviting covered deck overlooking a huge front yard where kids could play all day.

Watch the adjacent forest for native Hawks during the day. In the evening, enjoy the uncountable amount of stars and cool clear nights.

Napualanilehua has everything you would need for a comfortable vacation in the mountain side. From a cup of fresh brewed Kona coffee on the covered deck, to reading a book about Hawaii while dressed warmly in the comfortable bathrobes provided, Napualanilehua has an experience waiting for you.

All guests are greeted upon entry with softly playing Hawaiian music. Fresh flower arrangements and a fresh fruit assortment is provided.

The fully equipped kitchen has a range/oven, fridge/freezer, all pots, pans, and serving dishes. Even a coffee maker and toaster is provided.

The living room is fully furnished with reading chairs, a flat screen TV (with satellite programming), a sofa, that when necessary, can be converted to a pull-out full size bed. Vaulted ceilings with a ceiling fan and recessed lights make this room very large and inviting. Wifi is also broadcast throughout the home.

The master bedroom features a large vaulted ceiling, King size bed, two night stands, and table lamps.

The second bedroom features a queen size bed, single night stand, table lamp, and a large vaulted ceiling.

Guests are also encouraged to use the complimentary postcards to keep in touch with friends and family while you are enjoying your stay.

Napualanilehua is very committed to promoting the Island's many products and services. Our fresh flower arrangements are produced locally by a small family business. Fresh fruit that awaits your arrival is hand picked by us the morning of your arrival, available from the many local farmers markets. Napualanilehua even provides sample Kona coffee blends and Hawaiian Macadamia Nut products, when available. As our list continues to expand, we hope you find the local products very exciting.

If you are looking for a place to detach from the rush of normal life, or if you are looking for a convenient location on your vacation that is central to many fine activities, Napualanilehua would be a great pick.

Thank you for joining us on your vacation needs!

Guest Access

When you book Napualanilehua, you are not booking a "shared" space. You will have access to the entire rental.

Interaction with Guests

We at Napualanilehua want you to feel as if you are on a true vacation. Both owners (Lehua and Taylor), live within the Keaau district, approximately 20 minutes away and could be summoned at all times with a quick phone call.

The Neighborhood

Napualanilehua is located in a very small, yet developing subdivision. We think the location, although very close to the main highway, is still far enough detached from city life, to promote a real tranquil vacation.

Getting around

On site parking is available for guests traveling with a vehicle. The Big Island, being as rural is it can get, is very limited with public transportation. Although the county bus system does stop in front of the subdivision, it is not a very effective way of transportation.

Other Things to Note

Please note: As with about 80% of the Big Island, Napualanilehua is served by a water catchment system. For everyones safety, we do not recommend drinking the water from the kitchen tap. For drinking water, we provide potable water from a county source.

  • This Mountain View home is a perfect spot for a family that needs two bedrooms. The house was wonderfully clean, and there was even a fruit basket and beautiful floral arrangements to welcome us. The only inconvenience was having to bring in water for drinking and cooking. The location is quite secluded. The nearest town and gas station are a few miles away.

  • Arriving after sunset, we were very grateful to find a light left on for us and pleasant music and fruit awaiting us inside. The interior was furnished very nicely and is well looked-after, perfect for a couple or family. Having a washer and dryer on site was very handy. The check in/out process was very easy, and Taylor and Lehua were very responsive from the outset. This is a great place to stay for those looking to explore Volcanoes National Park and the rest of the island. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Taylor and Lehua definitely took the extra step to make their guests feel welcomed! Our flight to Kona was very much delayed (if you're staying here, it's best to fly into Hilo as it is much closer) and we arrived at Napualanilehua at 3:30am! The roads were pitch black since there were no street lights, but Taylor and Lehua's directions took us to the house very easily. They left the lights on for us, thank goodness! Upon entering the home, music was playing and fresh fruits and flowers welcomed us! The home is a two bedroom/one bath with a very large living room and well-equipped kitchen. We all agreed that this house is very well maintained and living there made us feel like we are locals as it uses the rain-water catching system like many of the other houses we saw, which was pretty neat. Just one surprise I had was how secluded this place was, you have to be comfortable with night-time sounds like frogs and such and the pitch darkness outside. The general location of this place is very good as it is very close to Hilo and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - about 20 mins each way driving. It was nice to have a washer/dryer on site to use as well. I loved how clean the house, beddings, kitchen, bathroom, and home exterior were - again very well maintained, it made for a comfortable stay.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Napualanilehua. The fruit basket was awesome! It provided breakfast for our first day and then some. Very comfortable and quiet. Location was perfect for touring Volcano National Park. Mahalo Nui Loa. We will definitely consider staying again when we are in the neighborhood, and so should you.

  • We booked the Napualanilehua just for a place to sleep after long days of hiking, but this place is so much more, its spacious, clean and very comfortable. At arrival we had fresh flowers and fresh fruits. It a small adventure when you make a left leaving the property and trying to get to the main road ;) To bad we only stayed 2 nights.

  • Cute place. Very secluded. Well appointed. Many amenities, but no fresh water available. Have to eat dinner early as everything in Hilo closes at 8! We discovered that the hard way. Hosts left good info and recommendations. Super convenient location got HVNP. Only 10 minutes from the park, which made it easy to catch sunset at the Kilauea Caldera (a MUST on the big island).

  • After 2 full days of hiking around Volcano National Park, we were relieved to have a short drive back to Napualanilehua. The king sized bed helped with a good nights sleep.
This is secluded large spacious house well stocked with everything you will need and lots of extras too (including a fruit basket, fluffy robes, wifi, etc). Hilo is an easy 20-30 minute drive away. A great place to stay while exploring this side of the island!

  • Our stay at Napualanilehua was phenomenal! The close proximity to Volcanoes National Park and Hilo provided us with an excellent location to base ourselves from. The house is kept in pristine condition, and there are a lot of little add-ons which greatly enhance the quality of the visit (e.g., dishes and a preliminary supply of bottled water are provided as are robes, a fruit basket, DirectTV, internet and a washer/dryer). Also, Taylor and Lehua are very easy to communicate with, and we had no issues during our time at the house. We would definitely stay again at Napualanilehua.

  • Napualanilehua is a great place to stay if you want to explore the volcanoes national park or the Puna district. It's situated in between Volcano and Keaau. You have the house all for yourself. It's in the forest and it's nicely furnished, very clean and cozy! Exactly what you need after a day of hiking or exploring the area. There is also a full kitchen which provides everything you need. We would definitely would book Napualanilehua again.

About
We are both local people, born and raised in Hawaii, with deep family roots and values that have spanned generations. Growing up in Hawaii allowed us to appreciate the beauty of the Islands and all it offers. The Hawaiian culture is truly a blessing: words cant do it justice. A big part of the Hawaiian culture is sharing and helping others, learning to respect the natural resources and abundance, and living with "Aloha". As a result of our upbringing, and with credit to the strong culture in Hawaii, we both enjoy what nature has to offer. We are both very much outdoors people. With a small ranch that we operate, we split our times tending to our horses and other livestock, and exploring not only the Big Island, but all the islands in the Hawaiian chain.
