This is a working farm with a vineyard, apple orchard, raspberries, and a large green garden.
The house is located on the old mission peninsula. There are wonderful restaurants and wineries within minutes and town is a short 7 mile jaunt away. The house is quite modern downstairs with eames furniture and other retro touches all open spaces with views in every direction. The bedroom retains the old farmhouse feel with oak trim and antique furnishings.
Your bedroom has a queen size bed and is very large. It overlooks a wonderful field and farmhouse. You have your private bathroom, just across the hall. The house is air-conditioned.

What an amazing place! Being our first Air B&B stay, we were a bit nervous. Now, I could not recommend it enough.
The picturesque farm sits about half way into the Mission Peninsula, right across the street from Grand Traverse. Irene and Lou's home is beautifully finished. A perfect mix of modern and old world farm style.
They made us feel so at home! Welcoming us to pick apples and raspberries as we like. They were a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding areas as well.
I can't thank them enough for having us into their home. It truly made our trip. I hope we get the chance to stay again, and will definitely suggest it for family and friends.
This is first time my wife and I have had the experience of using AirBnB. Irene and Lou are both very welcoming and make their home feel as if it was your own.
Upon arriving we were met in the driveway by Irene who then walked us around the farm and house then showed us to our room where we had fresh apples awaiting us from their orchard . The old farmhouse is as beautiful as the pictures show, Irene and Lou know the area very well and can truly give you great advise and tips of wineries, restaurants and scenery with in the area. My wife and I were able to enjoy fresh coffee sitting on their covered porch and as an extra bonus pick a small bag of apples to bring home to our daughter. Highly recommended
Irene and her husband were very welcoming. The farm is beautiful and they made me feel like I could roam anywhere and make myself at home. The property was as described and there is no more beautiful place than the Mission Peninsula. Irene even went with me to her favorite vineyard. They had apples and water waiting on my arrival and I got to eat fresh picked raspberries. I was attending a conference so I left early in the morning and returned late at night which was not a problem. This was my first Airbnb stay so I have nothing to compare it too but I would stay with them again!
I had a wonderful stay at Lou and Irene's farmhouse. It was easily accessible and appeared just as it was described. An added bonus was the list of suggestions from Irene about restaurants and places to visit. The excellent food and accommodations enhanced my Traverse City experience.
She was very welcoming! Greeted us at the front door, allowed us to pick and pack fresh raspberries from her farm (yum!).
Lou & Irene were amazing hosts with a gorgeous home and property; one can only hope for hosts as hospitable, knowledgeable and laidback. My fiancé and I really value our privacy, which is tough to accomplish when renting a room in somebody else’s home, but we felt completely at ease with our access to the house.
If our friends or family were ever to travel to Old Mission or the Traverse area, I would highly recommend using Lou and Irene's accommodations or even just to stop by for fresh fruit and a quick chat! It’s obvious this couple knows how to enjoy life; their energy is contagious and their home is a perfect place to enjoy the Traverse Bay area. Their property and home is so beautiful and makes it easy to feel as if you belong, even for just a few days. Lou’s knowledge of the area and suggestions for food and drink were so helpful! We definitely plan to visit again; you don’t find accommodations or a couple this awesome just anywhere!
A big thank you to Lou and Irene for such a memorable holiday weekend!
My husband and I live on our working farm 7 months in Michigan, and we live 5 months in Washington DC. I am from the Netherlands and we both have traveled and worked abroad. We have stayed in many airbnbs and know what it takes to make people feel comfortable and welcome.
We are a laid back couple and want you to be able to relax and enjoy all the beauty that surrounds us here on the Peninsula.
We cannot accommodate pets or children.
