The space

Welcome to La Joya Retreat/Villa located between MANUEL ANTONIO and DOMINICAL.. Built as a meditation/yoga retreat on 4 acres, this 12 Bed retreat/villa offers spacious accomodation with pool, yoga deck and expansive ocean views. The tropical gardens are well-maintained and the pool offers a deck and view. There is an abundance of tropical flowers, fruit trees, Blue Morpho butterflies, monkeys and Toucans.
The tap water is fed from a mountain spring well and is PURE and completely drinkable! No need to buy bottled water.
The property is accessible by 4x4 vehicles only, very typical in this part of Costa Rica... so make sure your rental has 4 wheel drive.

The price per night is for up to 6 guests!! Additional 20/per person/night.

There are 4 cabinas with half baths and 2 twin beds in each.
There are 2 bedrooms in the Main House: 1 with full size bed and 1 with king.
4 full bathrooms with showers in the main house.

Main House Ground floor has large covered balcony with incredible views, fully-equipped kitchen and service for 16 people, a den that can be used as a bedroom and dining room.

Second floor has VERY LARGE bedroom or meeting room (for retreats), additional bedroom with A/C and 2 full bathrooms.

Poolside bedroom has full-size bed and 2 full bathrooms.

LOCATION IS AWESOME!
20 minutes to Quepos airport, 25 minutes to Dominical in the south, or Manuel Antonio in the north. Both offer restaurants, shops, nightlife, and tourist activities. Close by --ziplining, horseback riding on the beach, waterfalls galore, river rafting, and the BEST surfing in costa rica. BUT, the best part about this gem retreat is the natural beauty of its location and surroundings. Jungle sounds and ocean views.... the best R and R or meditative rejuvenating spot on the coastline.

Really enjoyed our too-brief time in this lovely place at the end of a remote private drive within a remote gated community WAAAAAY up the side of a remote mountain. The configuration is both interest and practical, with a pleasing flow and plenty of space for many guests. Nice pool, fantastic deck, and we may never stay anywhere with a better view. Two nearby spots that may not be on your itinerary but are worth checking out: 1) What the locals call Playa Linda, a gorgeous and broad beach at the end of the dirt road that heads ocean-ward from 34 near the two radio towers just south of Matapalo -- five minutes from Portalon. 2) Nauyaca Falls, accessed from 243 between Dominical and San Isidro -- plan on half a day for this one.

Its the most beautiful spot you could ever expect of dreamland fantasy! I was looking for some peace and quite and sure enough, I got it! Its about 15 mins up a gravely mountain road where 4 wheel drive is most definitely needed! YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT WITHOUT 4 Wheel drive! Upon the entrance is a very humble village with a small restaurant/bar and a tiny pulperia with small essentials and snacks. 20 mins north is the vibrant beach community of Quepos and Manuel Antonio. 20 mins south is the beautiful beach, Dominical. Everything you could possibly want to do is within minutes of this location. However, prepare your stay with food for cooking, because once you've met your arrival, its a ardous prospect to retrieve anything of commodity. All in all this spot is epicly awsomely undisapointingly on point! I would totally bring my family of 10 here again in a heart beat! Oh and Fernando, the grounds keeper, is the friendliest, most warm welcoming host I have met on this whole trip-besides my mom of course. A++, 5 star rating, 3 thumbs up!!! What more can I say?... Thanks you Gabriella for opening your home to me my family. Hope to do it again in the future!

Our stay was amazing! There were 6 adults, plenty of room and privacy for all. The pool was great and cleaned every day. Fernando the caretaker was there when we needed him but did not bother us. The views are beautiful, amazing sunsets and there is plenty of privacy here. You definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle, this is up on the mountain. About 10 minutes to the main road.

Staying at Lajoya Villa Retreat was great. We stayed there with 6 friends and were very comfortable, and the property could have fit more. The pool and outdoor yoga studio/deck made relaxing incredibly easy, and the house was in fairly close proximity to Quepos and Dominical so we could go out as well. The house is very secluded and is near the top of a very steep hill/mountain (which is a bit trying to get up). While a very modern house, it is definitely in the wilderness. The caretaker, Fernando, is awesome and very helpful. If you're looking for an adventure with a few friends or a romantic getaway, I'd recommend it.

This is a beautiful property that we brought our family to and I would definitely consider bringing a group or retreat here. The grounds and view are breathtaking, the kitchen is great, and it's so nice to have HOT water. The description note about needing a 4x4 to get there is 100% TRUE, and because there's no wifi I'd definitely recommend making sure you have a phone with data on it-the 3G service in the area worked great. The beds are small compared to US standards, but that's pretty much the case all over Costa Rica. We had a great time!

This Villa retreat was built for meditation/yoga style retreats and has been used by those needing to rejuvenate with the beauty of the mountains, ocean and stunning natural scenery. A wonderful writers retreat, too!
