Monteverde, Costa Rica (Spanish for 'green mount') is a small town in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. It is often considered a major tourist destination in Costa Rica, primarily frequented by ecotourists drawn by the high biodiversity of its numerous reserves, the most famous of which is the Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde. This article deals with Monteverde and its surrounding zone. This includes the larger hub of Santa Elena, as well as numerous reserves and attractions.
We are located in Santa Elena Monteverde, just 5 blocks from Santa Elena downtown.
Monteverde translates as "green mountain," and that´s exactly what you `ll find at the end of the steeo and windy rutted dirt road that leads here. Next to Manuel Antonio, this is Costa Rica`s most internationally recognized ecotourism destination.
Monteverde Villa Lodge is a short walk from the town of Santa Elena. It's charmingly rustic, with no pretensions. A bit difficult to find in the dark, so make sure of some landmarks when you set out after breakfast. The breakfasts are fantastic, both generous and delicious. The hosts are really nice, thoughtful and full of helpful information. We found the rooms adequate, if noisy from the wind. I would stay again.
Monteverde Village Lodge was a nice little spot about a ten minute walk away from the "downtown" area of Monteverde. Our room was spotless and had four really big light filled windows and a comfy bed. The shower was hot too! The woman behind the front desk that met us upon our arrival was super sweet, just a very kind soul. It's a nice spot to be a little bit away from the hustle and bustle, but near enough to do all the sightseeing there is to be seen in this beautiful area.
We had a wonderful stay at Monteverde Villa Lodge. Hector greeted us when we arrive and offered some coffee. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.
The staff were all very nice and helped us book activities.
My group of 5 had a nice stay at Monteverde Villa Lodge. Dont expect anything very fancy. The beds were decent size and the rooms were clean. Although we didnt use the "kitchenette", it was there as an option. Every room (which was a cabin) was separated from each other, which was nice privacy. Everyone who stayed there in the Lodge was nice and the way the cabins are, it felt like a tiny neighborhood. There is a front grass area and a very convenient parking area. The location of the Villa Lodge was very convenient. About a 10 minute walk from town with many food options (although very touristy in my opinion). The lodge is also very convenient to all our reservations (ziplining (yes do it), midnight hike (yes do it) If you made reservations before hand, talk to the front desk. There is always options for them to pick you up, makes life so much easier and its free of charge. The people that work at the Lodge are extremely helpful. You want to make reservations, they will do all the work. Questions about food or the town area, no problem. Extremely friendly. Not the fancy place you may be looking for but nice helpful help and the convenience of location, I recommend staying here.
We definitely recommend staying here while in Monteverde! Heiner and his staff are very nice and exceed expectations for hospitality. The food is also great!
The hotel owners were incredibly helpful and welcoming! Great hotel!
Great stay. The room was large and clean and had everything we needed. Heiner, the host, was incredibly helpful and hospitable and made us a delicious breakfast as well as helping us book local tours. We never got to meet Erick. There was no AC in the room, but it was not needed anyhow, and we didn't even use the fan that was provided. The location is good - just a 10 minute walk into the tiny town center, including the supermarket. The only downside is that the room was quite dark as there is not much natural sunlight that gets through all the vegetation, but this was a minor inconvenience. Highly recommended!
