Come stay in my wonderful house in Nyuh Kuning / Ubud. Super cute house with tons of light and a great pool. House includes two bedrooms each with private bathroom with hot water and bath tub. Speedy wifi installed (you don't share the connection with anyone else).
There is no air conditioning but the house has excellent air flow. I'm always too hot in Bali and this is the first house I have stayed in where I have not wanted AC. There is a ceiling fan above each bed and a strong standing fan is provided if you need an extra breeze.
Centrally Located in the village of Nyuh Kuning at the south end of Ubud.
This listing is for the entire two bedroom house (maximum four people).
A very sweet woman named Komang is available to nanny or clean the house. An extra $50 weekly will be charged for her services.
One quirky 'Bali design' aspect of the house is that the bedrooms do not have separate ceilings - they are both open to the roof of the house. The results is tons of airflow and no need for AC but a bit less privacy. Perfect for families or friends but you might not want to share with strangers.
I've been in Ubud for five years so I'm happy to help you out with whatever might need. I can arrange scooter or car rental or airport pick-up. I can also recommend lots of great restaurants that deliver to the house.
I'm building web/mobile projects in Bali so would also be happy to trade accommodation for work if you are a designer/programmer sort. Or it could be a job if you are interested in an extended Bali stay. Or if you find me someone amazing that wants to come to Bali then you are welcome to stay in the house for free. Message me for details.
Special rates available if you are coming for the Emily Kuser's High Vibe Yoga Immersion or Teacher Training. A room is available for just $10/night to anyone coming for one of these events.
If you are yoga obsessed and would be willing to write some reviews about your favorite yoga experiences around the world (teachers, studios, retreats, trainings etc) then I can definitely work a special deal for you.
We enjoyed our stay at Denton's villa! The pool was great and the bedroom was clean, comfortable, and new.
The place is slightly outside of town so you will need to rent a scooter to get into town. With a scooter, it's only a 5 minute drive.
Very nice, local neighborhood. The house staffer, Wayan, was super nice and very helpful with our questions. She even helped us rent a scooter.
One negative was the wifi. When it works, it works well. Unfortunately, it dropped frequently during our stay.
Overall, we had a great time staying at this villa in (website hidden) The three cats at the villa are playful roommates :)
Denton's property is just beautiful and has lots and lots of potential to be a really great place for shorter, or better, longer-term stays in Ubud. The pool is great, wifi is (usually) pretty strong, the rooms are comfortable enough, and Denton is kind, helpful, and responsive to his guests' needs. Unfortunately, however, the property suffers from a general lack of care and maintenance: damp walls, rusty taps, musty odors, lights not working in places, kitchens really (really) in need of cleaning. The little family of cats there gave us much joy, but they were also a messy, needy lot :) We were not expecting welcome drinks, but a few shelves or hooks in the bathrooms would have helped, or even a printed page explaining where to find things, or just a touch or two to make the place feel like it was more than a shell in which to crash. That said, it's safe and good value for the price, if you're equipped with a phone or can use scooters to get around (it's a bit away from town, not easy to walk back to esp. when it's dark out). Nothing beats waking up to the cool quiet of a Bali morning, interrupted only by roosters cockadoodle-dooing their hearts out.
Although, I didn't have a chance to meet Denton in person, I really enjoyed staying at his villa. Open area, big kitchen, pool and very nice vibe! Internet connection was very good, far better than at any other place I've stayed on bali so far. There is no hassle of central ubud, but all its goodies are still within very short motorbike ride. Will definitely stay here again in my next visits to ubud.
I originally booked 4 days, but ended up staying 10 days. The place is great. The room was clean and spacious, the common area with kitchen was spacious as well. The pool was clean and refreshing, I used it several times.
The location is great. Ubud centre is reachable by walking though I ended up renting a bicycle (most other people rented scooters). There are great restaurants nearby and a spa right next door.
But the best part were the other people staying at the villa. They were a friendly bunch and we routinely got dinner together.
Denton was very responsive and provided me with info how to get there from Ubud.
There are two wifi routers so the wifi was good pretty much all the time.
Overall, our stay at Villa Mantra was amazing. The location is slightly outside of Ubud which makes for a nice walk into town. The kitchen is handy for when you get sick of nasi goreng and mie goreng for breakfast - just go to the supermarket down the road for weekly breakfast provisions. The staff is helpful and very friendly. Denton, although we never met, was very helpful before and during our stay. If pristine bathrooms and kitchen is what you expect from your accommodation then this isn't the place for you - our bathroom felt a little neglected in very obvious places but nothing I couldn't survive for the price. Thanks!
I had a great time at the villa, although I only met Denton briefly he was a great host and has a great team running his villas. My accommodations were always clean, good internet, and a overall nice living space.
I would definitely recommend staying here if you're planning to spend a few weeks in and around Ubud. It's located close to the town but far away enough where it's not too crazy with traffic.
If you're looking for an amazing remote scenic villa this is NOT recommended as it is located just outside Ubud town. I used this place more as a work place and a homebase. If you're doing a project, taking classes or passing through for a short period of time this is probably one of the best spots you can stay in.
Our stay at Denton's was quite nice. Although it is a little far from Ubud's center, this is both a blessing and a curse. It isn't difficult to get someone to drive you into Ubud for about $5USD (which I actually think is a bit high for the short drive), so you aren't stuck, but it does require a little planning. On the upside, it was wonderfully peaceful and that is more important to me than convenience. Wayan, the lady who cleans, is a darling and very helpful. And although Denton wasn't there (off in Canada for the summer :)>), we didn't experience any problems. Problems were resolvable through a building manager if we had needed it. The pool was nice - a good size and cleaned daily. My favorite part though was probably Zeus and Delialah. There are two cats that live at the villa and they are absolute darlings. Each morning, they would run upstairs to greet us and promptly curl into our laps for attention! I adored them. I would definitely stay at Denton's again and would recommend it to others. My only (very small complaint) was that the wifi kept cutting out. Internet connection in Ubud is really, really slow compared to the rest of the island (I had better wifi in Amed!!), but Denton's wifi is acceptable when it works. We couldn't get wifi in our rooms upstairs (no big deal), and about half the time, the internet would just stop working. Had Denton been there, this probably would have been resolved because he uses it for work. That said, I didn't go to Bali to use the internet, so I wasn't much fussed by it.
Nice accomodation, large rooms and a nice big open living room with an open, well-equiped kitchen. Recommendable!
This place is divided into six large rooms with veranda's or balconys overlookig a nice green garden with swimming pool. The beds are great, but the interior is a bit plain. By the look of the garden and the rooms you would expect great bathrooms, which are a bit of a dissapointment. This place is great for people that stay in Ubud for long term and are willing to invest in their own room decoration.
The villa is located in Lohtundu, a small sub-village of Ubud between rice paddys and with some traditional Balinese lifestyle going on. A motorbike is advicible tho, since the distance to the center is quite far and not a pleasant walk by a bussy road. Also get some detailed adress information, since none of the airport nor local taxi-drivers seemed to know where this place is located. A name and a direction sign for this place might be a good investment.
The staff (Wayan) is very friendly but not always arround. Some information about the area would be nice aswell.
