The Olives' Terrace a apartment forming part of an ancient Villa dating 1500 in the charming village of Benabbio set amid olive groves and chestnut woods of the Val di Lima, a few km from Bagni di Lucca, which is renowned for its thermal waters and the old Casino, the first in Europe.
Benabbio, unlike other villages in the region, is hidden among the woods in a tranquil spot making it ideal for a holiday or a relaxing break. Despite this, a few minutes walk are only two restaurants, a newsagent / stationery and food with local products. The beautiful view from the terrace offers countless ideas for recreation such as walking in the woods of chestnut and olive groves, visits to the ancient Romanesque church, the Museum of Art or the ruins of the castle of Lupo Lupari, recently the subject of archaeological excavations.
You can relax in the Villa's garden between
bowers of vines and olive trees and take in the breath-taking mountain views. In addition, given the proximity to Tuscan cultural cities, it is possible to take day trips to Florence, Siena, Lucca and Pisa.
Recently restored, using materials and furnishings typical of the Tuscan style with antique furniture and objects characteristic of the traditional culture, the apartment is composed of a large double bedroom (it' possible have two twinbed instead of a double bed like in the pitcure) with bathroom with a shower, a living room with kitchenette and sofa bed for two people and a relax room with tv, dvd player, and fireplace.
In the garden you can find a beach umbrella and sun beds, table and chairs for al fresco dining whilst enjoying panoramic views.
There is private covered parking. Use free beds for children and the necessary for the children.
Washing machine with payment,
The guests have the free access in the terrace and the garden, they can pick the fruits or the vegetables in the garden, and I am very happy to explain the history and the tradition of the village.
I like to help myguests to live one of the best holiday,

Maria Elena's place in Benabbio is simply wonderful. We just returned from a 11-day trip and her place was our favorite of all we stayed in. It's tucked away in a tiny little village in the mountains, and the house itself is beautiful! Our favorite part was the large fireplace! Thank you, Maria, for your kind hospitality - we would love to come back in the summer when we can enjoy the terrace! :)
WOW!!! The village is magical, Maria Elena and her family so helpful, relaxed and kind, and the accommodation is incredible! An open fire with stacks of wood, a breathtaking view... this stay was our highlight of Italy. We were in Benabbio for Christmas and it was such an experience! A tiny beautiful village with winding cobblestone streets and secret pathways. We could see snow on the mountains around us. The apartment is amazing, lots of space and everything you need, we were warm and cosy! We had a private court yard and picked herbs from the beautiful garden for our cooking. We stayed for a week and were sad to leave :)
Just like all the reviews we read before going, we found Maria Elena and her home very welcoming, with breathtaking views and cozy decor. It was just what we were looking for - a quiet retreat with a mountain view and a friendly host. We stayed 2 particularly chilly nights in late November, but were greeted with heaters and a warm fire from the moment we arrived. Maria Elena even opened up the adjoining living room for us to use because it was too cold to sit out on the terrace. She brought us extra firewood and reserved a table for us at the restaurant in the village, which was charming!
There are a few things to note if you are visiting for the first time. The village of Benabbio is definitely "off the beaten path," which is great for a quiet getaway, but a bit of driving is required to reach the touristic sites in Lucca (~30 minutes) and Pisa (~1 hour). We enjoyed the driving, but some may not. Also, the drive up to Benabbio is somewhat narrow and a bit steep with many switchbacks. You'll be rewarded with an unparalleled view, but the drive might make some a little nervous. Neither of these considerations would keep me from going back for another visit, however, and Maria Elena and her neighbors in Benabbio get my sincerest thanks, and a whole-hearted 5 stars! Hope to go again!
House in the mountains XVI century building, imbued with the spirit of history, numerous paintings, fireplace, antique furniture and allow to feel the spirit of Italy. The terrace offers a spectacular panorama of the city and the forest. Mistress Maria Elena are manufactured honey and olive oil that you can buy. In general, all very much.
We've stayed in Olives terrace and love every moment.
It is exactly as you see in the pics.
We hope to come again.
Such a beautiful apartment in a village high up in the mountains, complete with a very cute cat called Toby. We loved staying here and were sad to leave.
We had an amazing stay at the Olive Terrace. The apartment is very well thought out and it has everything you need for a short or long stay. The location makes a great base from which to explore Tuscany - spas, country walks, Pisa, Lucca, wine tastings and an endless number of charming towns and villages are all just a short (and beautiful) drive away. But if you're anything like us, you'll spend half the time on the terrace, watching the clouds go by.
Maria was also a lovely host. She was quick to get us a reservation at the local restaurant and organised a great wine tasting at a winery near Montecarlo.
I really can't recommend this place enough.
The apartment was lovely, peaceful, comfortable and modernised sensitively in the beautiful ancient house that has been in the family for generations. Outside we had a terrace with a fantastic view. In the garden were grape vines with ripe grapes and olive trees. Maria Elena was a delightful host, very friendly and helpful. In the mornings fresh croissants and bread were delivered to our door which we ate with honey from Maria Elena's bees. In the evenings we had delicious food in the nice village restaurant where the owner and staff were so friendly and kind. All good.
This is such a nice place with an amazing view from the terrace!!! It was very clean and nicely decorated and maria elena was a great and helpful host! We definitely want to come back!
My wife and I stayed 2 magical nights at Helena Maria house in beinabbaio. We enjoyed every second of our stay. The view from the porch is breath taking. The house unit that we got was big, very clean and pretty and it seems like she thought about every little detail to make our stay as conferrable and relaxing that it could be.
Helena Maria was very nice and helping and even made a reservation for us at a local restaurant that was really nice.
We warmly recommend to everyone who wants to travel through Italy to stop and relax at Helena-Marias romantic and amazing house.
