Interaction with Guests
I'm a moments notice away for any recommendations and helpful hints but otherwise you are free to enjoy the life of a local on your own.
You are minutes from down town and the South Congress or popular SOCO area.
South 1st neighborhood also has a lot of the locals favorite shops, food trucks and cafe's.
The area is accessible by walking, biking or public transit. There is also plenty of free parking and drive way if you have a car.
The bus is one block from the house and will take you to down town one straight route. Easy!
Baxter is awesome! She was great at keeping in touch before our trip and was there to welcome us and show us the house which was nice and clean. Great kitchen with everything you need. Comfy beds. Nice back yard with table and chairs. The street is very quiet, and only short walk to South Congress and all the restaurants, shops and bars. It was perfect. I think the best part was Baxter's amazing record collection. My friends and I spent a lot of time sitting in the living room, listening to music, it was great! Would totally stay there again or recommend to a friend!
I was in Austin and needed a place for the night, while for the other properties 12 hour notice was too short, Baxter accommodated us with only 6 hour notice, YES 6 HOURS!!!
In pictures I noticed the old record player, I had to look again, yes it was there, I was sold. Baxter met us at the place and told us not only about the property but also about things to do. The location is amazing, it is within a walking distance from everything, restaurants, bars, food trucks, you name it.
After an evening of walking around we listened to the the record player and did not turned on the tv or though about it the whole time we were there.
6 star experience!!!
Baxter was great and the little house was just as adorable as it was in the photos! It was definitely very eclectic and perfect for the Austin vibe I was looking for.
I lived in Austin for a while so I wasn't looking for someone to be in constant touch with me so I appreciated that Baxter was quick with texts but not overbearing. However, if you wanted some more interaction or communication I'm sure she'd be great for that as she also texted a few times to make sure things were going well and to let me know about events happening in Austin.
Our stay at Strawberry Cottage was great. It is in a nice neighborhood, walking distance to plenty of shopping and nightlife. Baxter was helpful in giving us ideas on places to check out, and her record collection was thoroughly enjoyed. If I am ever back in Austin I would stay at Strawberry Cottage again.
We loved staying at the Strawberry Cottage! It's a sweet little house filled with tons of charming details. It is conveniently located close to everything we wanted to do and we were able to comfortably hang out there with our son during down times. Baxter and Derek were friendly, informed hosts who were happy to suggest places to eat and hear live music. Baxter was good about keeping in touch and was very easy to work with.
The stereo and French Press were great additions to the cottage. Those folks who can't go without a television will be sad to hear there isn't one available but that wasn't an issue for us. With so much to do in Austin you won't miss it anyway. There is good, strong wi-fi, by the way.
We stayed in the cottage with our adult son. There was plenty of off-street parking for two cars. The queen bedroom doesn't have a door and you walk into it to access the king bedroom. Again, not an issue for us but something to mention.
The Strawberry Cottage enhanced our trip and we hope to be able to stay there again on our next Austin visit.
Pleasant house, good location, great porch and friendly flexible host Baxter who regularly kept in touch during my stay. Would definitely stay here again.
