This room, "The O'Neal", is a comfortable twin guest room in our home B & B, Lefferts Manor Bed and Breakfast. We are a proud Brooklyn B&B with country charm, walking distance to lovely Prospect Park & the subway, 20 minutes to downtown Manhattan!
This quiet retreat in the back of the house looks out over the gabled rooftops of Fenimore Street and down onto the gardens and yards below. A full sized room with two twin beds make this room ideal for traveling friends or family who prefer separate beds.
The O'Neal shares a beautiful restored 1920's bathroom with just one other guest room on the same floor. Just one flight up from the Parlor.
All of our rooms feature original 1898 detailing. Original doors, baseboards and window sashes, fireplaces (sealed) and mantles, quarter-sawn oak parquet flooring, picture rails, original plaster work including original gasliqht medallions. Two of the bedrooms still have the original antique intercom boxes with which the first owners would call their servants!
We have borrowed from our interests in Eastern philosophies of design to give you the feeling of Victorian comfort without losing the clarity and openness of the rooms, which the Zen philosophers believe brings peace of mind.
On the first floor is the Parlor, open to all guests from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. for quiet enjoyment and features ten-foot ceilings, two seven-foot windows and original Maple mill- work and trim. An original Arts & Crafts chandelier shines in the front foyer lighting up the enormous built-in beveled mirror framed in decorative Maple.
Please feel free to browse and borrow from our expansive library or play a board game, or just relax and read after breakfast or in the evening. A computer with internet access is available.
The Parlor is where we also serve our full, fresh, home-made breakfast every morning at 9 am. A great way to start the day for an additional $10 per person.
We live in the house on the ground floor and are happy to help with any questions or requests. We love to take the time to talk about our love for Brooklyn and all the wonderful things you can do in New York City.
Prospect Lefferts Gardens is a lovely, quiet neighborhood just minutes from Prospect Park and a 20 minute train ride into Manhattan.
We are walking distance to Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Prospect Park Zoo, Brooklyn Museum of Art, and more!
We are a 5-10 minute walk from the Prospect Park subway station, with Q & B express trains that go into Manhattan in 15 minutes or out to Coney Island. We are one train stop or a walk through the park from lovely Park Slope, Brooklyn, full of shops and restaurants, and two train stops from Atlantic Avenue & Barclay's Center, both a shopping mall and the city's largest train hub for you to switch to almost any other train line.
I made a last minute reservation due to my grandson's early birth, and Mark Osborn graciously and quickly responded. I stayed in the grand Fitzgerald Room which was furnished in lovely period details; the king bed was comfortable and all linens were luxurious. Although there was a shared bath, no one was staying in the other room, so it felt as though I had my own private bath. Breakfast is available in the dining room for an additional $10. but I didn't eat there. I needed to extend my stay; since the Fitzgerald Room was already taken for the weekend, Mark very accommodatingly moved me to the Blue Room in another lovely Victorian brownstone a few blocks away on another quiet residential street. Again, the furnishings were delightful, linens elegant and the shared bathroom empty except for me. Throughout my week, Mark and his staff were friendly, responsive and accommodating. I will definitely stay in his properties in the future.
The reservation was canceled 30 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I made this reservation for my parents. They didn't end up coming to town, but Mark was a great host--very prompt in replying and made sure we had all the information we needed. I can't comment on what the room looked like, but I live in the neighborhood and it's a great area. Next time my parents are in town I'll try to book them the same room.
