A relaxing place to stay and enjoy your holidays, with great views and all the basics to keep you comfortable.
In the house you will have TV, DVD, some movies, air conditioning, fast internet WI FI, complete kitchen supplies, hammocks, etc..
The house is on the top of a hill with a beautiful sea view, it is surrounded of pure nature and silence, the house has got an orchard and a tropical garden, one of the main reason to choose living there is that you will be only 5 minutes from the beach and the town. There are beautiful landscapes of both the Pacific Ocean on one side and the forest on the other.
Montañita is one of the most popular beaches for surfing in Ecuador with perfect waves and many surfing schools, there you will meet people from everywhere and could find a variety of restaurants, bars and parties almost 24 hours!
The house has internet service with Wi-Fi , air conditioner, hot water, barbecue place, porsche with hammocks. There are two bedrooms, the main one has a double bed and the other room has a bunk bed, both have closets just for your stuff. If you bring pets like dogs for instance there you will find enough space for them to run and play.
You can get there by your own car or by taxi and there is a huge parking.
I am always checking any question that my guests have, Actually I don't live in Montañita right now but I keep in touch with all my guests through emails and my friend Víctor who is taking care of my place is the one who receive them and help them any time they need.
(Enero 2014)
We had a nice stay in Patricia's house in Montanita for a week in April 2014. The house was comfortable and the kitchen had a good selection of cooking utensils for us to prepare meals. The view from the hammocks is GREAT, great wifi, and the house has a good A/C unit in the open kitchen area (but not in the bedroom which gets a bit stuffy, though there are stand-up floor fans to help move some air around). Patricia's friend, Victor, who helped us at check-in (and was always available to answer any questions as he lives next door) is a great guy - he brought us smoothies our first morning and came over with a map to give us more information about Ecuador. He even invited us to a bbq get together with his friends for his birthday on the shared bbq porch area of the house and played us some really wonderful music. We had a minor problem with the stove one morning and Victor came over right away and fixed it without complaint.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, our only criticism is that the shower really isn't that great - the water pressure seems ok but there are very few streams of water that can make it through the dirty shower head (note: it is a suicide shower) so a few little sprays weren't enough to clean off the sand from the beach and there's no outdoor shower. Plus, the little hose kept popping off of the shower head but it lets out more water so maybe that's a good thing.
Future guests should know that the hill leading up to the house is REALLY steep and makes for some serious exercise. If you're in good physical health, it shouldn't be a problem to climb up and down (though the sun makes this a hot walk!!), but we had a couple of cases where taxis assured us they knew the location of the house and could drive up the sandy, steep hill in their cars…but then they would give up on the drive half-way through and we'd have to walk the rest of the way uphill in the dark. Small rental cars may not be able to drive up.
It is only a $3.00 taxi ride from Montanita centre to the house if you can convince a driver to go up the hill, otherwise it's $1.50 to the base of the hill if you're able and willing to climb up.
A great price and a great view made for a lovely introduction to Montanita…and it was very nice to be able to get away from the loud music and noise from the town but still be close enough to indulge whenever we wanted.
We are repeat customers at Patricia's. It's a great place and our friends quickly adjusted to the climb up the hill. The fan was broken when we arrived, but Patricia quickly responded and we had two new fans in a matter of hours. Very responsive and greatly appreciated!
We had a wonderful time at Patricia's house in Montanita. She and her property manager, Victor, made our entire stay there so easy and comfortable. The house was the perfect size and perfect distance from town, close enough for an easy walk, yet far enough to get away from the noise of the party scene in town. Beautiful views, strong wifi, and everything else you would need to have a great vacation. (The walk up the hill can be a bit of a strain, but if you don't feel up to it, just pay the taxi an extra $1.50 to drive you all the way up). I wish there was a Patricia & Victor in all the places we stay!
Patricia's house was comfortable and clean. It had a great view of the ocean and the surrounding area. Very relaxing. Patricia responded quickly to our emails every time we had a question. We did not meet her personally, but our contact (Victor) was very helpful and respectful of our privacy. Great combo. We would definitely stay here again.
Our only suggestion for people is to make sure you have a strong enough vehicle to make it up the hill, very steep. We never tried to take a cab home, but I doubt any cab driver would have agreed to try and drive to the top.
Montanita – house with a view, this little cabin was ok for a few nights.
It is very ‘bare bones’ though. We had Patricia’s nice friend show us the house and help us be guided up with a taxi, he was very attentive to our needs. It really is quite a steep trip up, as others have mentioned. The view is great, the fridge is cold, and the new hammocks work wonderful for a relaxing time.
We also appreciated that the wifi worked and the air-conditioner.
The house pictures shown are definitely from when the house was new, it needs a bit of a tune up. We found the price a bit high(when you include the cleaning fee and the Airbnb fee on top), as I expect a certain level of comfort and cleanliness. I informed Patricia of the necessities we felt were missing in the house, and it sounds like she will take it to heart and upgrade a bit. Maybe it is just my standards that are not being met, but if airbnb hosts would like to rent to foreigners (and apply the price tag) there should be a bit more stuff and care put into the place to make it comfortable.
It would be a great place if you would like to stay outside of town and had a car and were expecting to bring some of your own things, ie. pots and pans, coffee maker, a flashlight, your own pillows or other little comforts.
This a very unique , interesting place to stay. Perfect if you really want to be away from the 24/7 party noise from the town. Liked the fact we had A/C .
Getting there: I made it up the hill with a small rental car.. no problem.. ( 3-4 minutes in car from Downtown)
Very calm and excellent place to stay.
Recommended if you want to enjoy Montañita from all angles.
Nice place, though the walk up the hill from Moñtanita is a killer! Still, I much preferred it to staying in Moñtanita itself - unless you plan on partying all night, every night you won't get much sleep staying in the town itself. Here, you can get the best of both worlds, with a bit of exercise thrown in!
When I go back to Montanita I will definitely see if I can stay at Patricia's. I had a great time staying at her home in Montanita. It was close enough to town to hear the night time music, but far enough away to feel you were not in the thick of things. And the view is great, just as the picture shows it. It is a bit of a walk if you are going into town and do not have a car, but there are lots of inexpensive taxi cabs that will get you back and forth if you are not up for the walk, or have had a few too many cocktails at the beach...or just to tired to walk after a strenuous day at the beach. There was a surfing competition going on in town the week I was there so the town was packed. It was a bit rainy the week I was there and Patricia's friend Nico, who lives in one of the bungalows on the property, met me in town and took me up to the house the day I arrived. The road was a bit muddy and my economy car got me to the bottom of the hill below the house, but it could not get up the hill with the slippery muddy road, so Nico got one of the neighbors to take me up the hill in his 4 wheel drive. After two days the road was dry and I was able to get my little economy car up the hill to the house. The internet worked fairly well. I didn't use the air conditioner as it had been raining and was not that hot. But I did sleep with the windows open and used the fan. The windows had screens on them which worked pretty good at keeping the bugs out!!! The kitchen had the basics so you could prepare your meals if you were not going out for meals. There was hot water in the shower which is always nice. Over all I give her place a "thumbs up". It has all the basics that are needed!
