The space

This is a bright, private room in a peaceful owner-occupied home.
There is direct access to a private garden.

The room has a queen bed and small Flat screen TV with basic cable, so you can watch news and find out about local events happening during your stay or simply channel surf before going to bed.

The bathroom is shared (with owner),and has an awesome shower! Other common areas shared are the Kitchen, Living room and a Breakfast nook.

Restaurants, food carts and local breweries abound here, so you'll want to plan on exploring at least some of them, but for those that want to budget or simply enjoy a quiet evening in, there is a well stocked kitchen, and of course access to a BBQ, located in the private garden, under a covered patio for year round grilling! Indulge your culinary skills with our ample access to some of the best locally grown produce anywhere!

Located in the Rose City Park neighborhood within walking distance to a lovely park adjacent to the Rose City golf course-a public course offering year round play-the second oldest golf course in Portland!

It's a short walk for easy access to public transportation for both the Trimet bus and Max train lines. Driving? Its a quick 10 minute drive to the downtown area for shopping, sightseeing or business appointments. Great shopping is even closer in the Lloyd Center Mall!

The neighborhood is very diverse and wide! All are welcome!

I really have very few rules.

Mi casa es su casa. Treat my home as you would expect me to treat yours.

The Basics:

1. Smoking out doors only and please dispose of the butts in canisters provided on the porch located outside the exterior room door.
2. Obviously, no illegal drugs of any kind are permitted.
3. Please never leave any lighted candle unattended.
4. Unplug all small appliances when not in use, (ie: hair dryers, curling irons, clothes iron, coffee pot, toaster, etc. both for safety and energy consumption).
5. Please adhere to Portland's ideology of recycling as much as possible. We believe in "Green" here.
6. Please lock up and secure the place when out exploring and enjoying our awesome city!

Having stayed with Kathleen several times, she has always made us feel at home and been responsive to requests and whatever issues arise. On our latest visit, that would be an ice storm and she did her best to keep the walk clear and us safe. We've always been very happy staying with "Kat." Norm and Judy

Been here before and returned based on host, house and (URL HIDDEN) four pawed friend. Kat is very friendly and a great host and I would return again. This was my second stay at this home.

Kathleen was such a wonderful and friendly host! My mom and I felt so comfortable and at home. She helped suggest things we could do each day and was so easy going we could talk for days! Her hospitality was perfect and we are so thankful we had Kat as our host!!

I stayed at Kathleen's place for about a week with my best friend, and we had an incredible experience. The place itself was darling; it was beautifully decorated and so incredibly comfortable! It felt like we were on vacation. We'd come back from a day of explorations (the house is in a prime location--it was very easy to get into the city and to drive to the Columbia River Gorge for some hiking) and we'd be able to relax and enjoy the hot tub. She has a wide selection of breakfast foods available for guests, and everything is so clean and organized. Kathleen was a wonderful host; she was so friendly and gave such incredible recommendations! It was very easy to get in contact with her; she was always very quick to respond, and always very sweet. Watson (her dog) is darling, and very well behaved. They're quite the pair! I highly recommend staying here. This was our first time in Portland, and we absolutely loved it. So thank you, Kathleen, for making it so perfect!

Could not have had a better first experience using Airbnb. Kathleen went about and beyond as a host. Not only was the room great, she provided us with everything we could need, from extra towels to snacks in the kitchen. She was very warm and welcoming and extremely accommodating. The place is in a wonderful neighborhood with easy access to public transport. Just an overall great experience!

Kathleen was amazing! All the other positive reviews are spot on. She was welcoming, kind, and incredibly accommodating. After spending days walking the city or hiking the falls, we would return to Kathleen's place and it genuinely felt like a vacation home. The neighborhood is safe and the location is convenient, while not too close to the city. (Definitely recommend renting a car if you can. If not - the Max is very easy to understand). There are so many interesting districts throughout Portland, and they were all just a 5-15 minute drive away. We had never done the "Private room" option, and we were nervous at first about privacy. The bathroom is shared, and there may even be another airbnb user staying in the other room. Don't let that deter you. We felt very comfortable, and our room still felt very private. (not to mention our deck had access to a hot tub!) To sum it up - we highly recommend staying with Kathleen. So thankful for such a great experience in Portland!

Hey there Travelers!
I'm fun-loving, very social and love meeting new people. I embrace diversity and value people's differences as much as I enjoy sharing common interests with them.
I am fascinated with other cultures and traditions and always seek ways to broaden my world. I figured opening my home to travelers would be a fine way to nurture that goal.

I love to garden, cook, read and I am an aspiring writer. I love art in every form. My music interests include almost every genre. Speaking of art, I'm something of an artist at putting my feet up in my garden with a glass of wine at the end of a hard day's work and you are welcome to join when you're here!

I wish I could travel more, but lead a very busy life helping manage a local restaurant. A busy fine dining/ live music venue featuring fantastic local musicians.
Being in the restaurant/bar industry allows me to appreciate people from all walks of life. Everyone has a story. I look forward to hearing yours if you're in a sharing mood.
No pressure! :)

I love animals as much as I love people. My beloved Boxer, Mugsy died at the ripe old age of ten. He went deaf in his last years, but since I have a background in special education, working with deaf and hard of hearing children, I had the foresight to teach him sign language as a puppy, so we didn't have any trouble communicating in his last years! It took me a long time to grieve for him. My latest Boxer is Watson. He is a handsome, playful, very joyful companion and is also learning to understand sign language. Come meet Watson!

Being a Boxer owner might tell you a little about me. Boxers are smart, loyal, full of energy, fun loving, and maintain their playful "puppy-like" attitude their whole life! They can also be rather stubborn and determined at times! People who choose the breed appreciate those qualities, most likely because they themselves exhibit the same traits! :)
I'm humbled when friends have described me with these traits and surely aspire to live my life as large and loving as a boxer!

I look forward to hosting you during your stay here in beautiful, Portland, Oregon! Welcome!
