This is a bright, private room in a peaceful owner-occupied home.
There is direct access to a lush private garden with a hot tub for soaking your cares away.
The room has a queen bed and small Flat screen TV with basic cable, so you can watch news and find out about local events happening during your stay or simply channel surf before going to bed.
The bathroom is shared (with owner),and has an awesome shower! Other common areas shared are the Kitchen, Living room and a Breakfast nook.
Restaurants, food carts and local breweries abound here, so you'll want to plan on exploring at least some of them, but for those that want to budget or simply enjoy a quiet evening in, there is a well stocked kitchen, and of course access to a BBQ, located in the private garden, under a covered patio for year round grilling! Indulge your culinary skills with our ample access to some of the best locally grown produce anywhere!
Located in the Rose City Park neighborhood within walking distance to a lovely park adjacent to the Rose City golf course-a public course offering year round play-the second oldest golf course in Portland!
It's a short walk for easy access to public transportation for both the Trimet bus and Max train lines. Driving? Its a quick 10 minute drive to the downtown area for shopping, sightseeing or business appointments. Great shopping is even closer in the Lloyd Center Mall!
The neighborhood is very diverse and wide! All are welcome!
Loved staying with Kathleen and Watson! Kathleen is extremely friendly and accommodating, even going so far as offering to drive us to the airport at an ungodly hour. Watson is a rambunctious but lovable boxer and is used to being crated (for those worried about down time).
The house is cute and well maintained (the shower is powerful and therefore awesome!). Our room was comfortable and had a slider out to the hot tub in the plant-made private, fenced in backyard. The house is not super close to the MAX, maybe a 10-15 walk (I am a pretty fast walker and it took me around 10), but easy to find. For those of you wishing to see McMenamin's Edgefield but do not have a car, the bus to Troutdale is a couple blocks away.
I would highly recommend Kathleen and Watson's place. If I need a place to stay in Portland again, I am planning on staying with them again.
Kat was a great host for my 4 night stay. Her home was welcome to my son who I was visiting and she made us both feel very much at home. Everything was very comfortable and clean and my bed was great. Kat went so far as to introduce my son to a jazz artist so that he can possibly join the jazz jam on Sunday evenings close to her home. I could not have had a better experience!!! 5 stars!
Fantastic stay! Kathleen is a lovely hostess! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the hot tub was the perfect way to wrap up a day of walking around the city. The Max station is only a few blocks away and is easily walked. This was our first shared home experience and I don't think We could ve had a better experience. Such a cute house, Kathleen offers all the conveniences you will need & a shining personality to boot! Thank you for everything!
My boyfriend and I moved to Portland from the east coast and needed a place to stay while we searched for an apartment of our own. After browsing Airbnb, we decided to go with Katheleen's place. From the get-go, everything was perfect! Kathleen was easily accessible with questions before and after making the reservation. The house was clean and cozy and our room was as comfortable as our own bedroom! Kathleen went above and beyond when we needed to add a few extra days to our stay while we waited to move into our own place. We couldn't have asked for a better Airbnb experience! Thanks for everything, Kathleen! You're the best. :)
What a treat! Kat is such a great host - friendly, interesting, gracious and welcoming. She's really got the whole thing down, thoughtful little touches, very clean and nicely decorated home, comfortable bed, nice towels, didn't expect the hot tub. She made us feel so comfortable from the moment we walked in. I'm so glad our first AirBnB experience was with Kat because it left us with a great impression. We will definitely try to book with her again next time we're in Portland.
We had a fantastic time staying with Kat! Actually I miss her tons! Her home is beautiful, convenient, and luxurious feeling (with a garden, hot tub and banana tree--yes in Portland!). Kat is warm and welcoming and generous, having thought of all kinds of little things that just add to your stay. I can't rave enough about her as a host/ambassador/spunky/open-hearted soul and about her beautiful home. Can't wait to return!
We LOVED staying with Kat! She embodies all the qualities of a great hostess:- Friendliness- thoughtfulness[ water in our room, goodies in the kitchen for breakfast], understanding, and humor, to name just a few. She was very accessible. We felt very, very welcomed with a capital W !!!! Our room was comfortable, and clean. The shared bathroom was clean and lovely. We enjoyed looking out to her beautiful garden and hot tub.
She genuinely enjoys hosting . We feel fortunate to have met her and the wonderful Watson, and look forward to return visits with them.
We hope this is just the beginning of our friendship.

I had a great experience staying at Kathleen's. The location was great - not too far from the airport. The room was very comfortable, and Kathleen made me feel right at home. The shared bath was no problem. Kathleen is a great hostess - I enjoyed chatting over a glass of wine at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend staying here when you're in Portland.
It was great. Very hospitable and accommodating. Room was nice; lots of towels and every amenity. My first airbnb but if they are all like this, it won't be my last.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kat's quaint & comfortable home. This was our first airbnb experience & it was terrific all the way around. We loved the deck off the bedroom leading to a beautifully landscaped backyard with a nice & warm hot tub. After miles of walking each day it was nice to return to such a welcoming environment. I truly felt as if I was staying with a good friend. We traveled without a car, only using public transportation. Kat was kind enough to pick us up from a MAX stop close by her house & return us when it was time to head to the airport. It's an easy walk (10 mins) to the MAX when you don't have luggage so her place is convenient to travelers who don't have a vehicle. The kitchen is stocked with whatever you might need to start your day. A Keurig awaits with all kinds of great coffee/tea choices each morning. Kat is very knowledgeable about Portland so we got some great tips on where to visit each day. We are looking forward to our next visit to Portland & Kat is the first friend we will check with to see if she has a room for us.
