I really have very few rules.
Mi casa es su casa. Treat my home as you would expect me to treat yours.
1. Smoking out doors only and please dispose of the butts in canisters provided on the porch located outside the exterior room door.
2. Obviously, no illegal drugs of any kind are permitted.
3. Please never leave any lighted candle unattended.
4. Unplug all small appliances when not in use, (ie: hair dryers, curling irons, clothes iron, coffee pot, toaster, etc. both for safety and energy consumption).
5. Please adhere to Portland's ideology of recycling as much as possible. We believe in "Green" here.
6. Please lock up and secure the place when out exploring and enjoying our awesome city!
We really enjoyed staying here! The room was nice and clean and the bed was really comfortable. It was surprisingly easy to drive from here to downtown Portland, and for those people not interested in driving, the house is near the local train (though we did not use it). And of course Kathleen herself was wonderful, and knew a lot about what to see in Portland and what to do. All around a great experience! We would happily stay here again!

Kat was the ideal host for first-time AirBnB'ers. Her home was so warm and charming and she made us feel so welcomed. She encouraged that we use the amenities such as the kitchen which was stocked with goodies for us, the beautiful garden with multiple seating areas, fire pit and hot tub which was right outside our clean cozy bedroom which also had a tv with chromecast and access to wifi.
On one of the mornings we toasted some bagels on the cast-iron grill and had breakfast in the garden/backyard. Which was great start to long and fun day of Portland Adventures. It was also really nice not having a curfew and being able to come and go as we pleased.
We would definately stay here again and encourage others to stay here also.
First time Airbnber & I hit the ball out of the park staying at Kathleen's place. Everything was so nice, peaceful and friendly. Thank you Kathleen!
Kathleen's comfortable, inviting home could not have been a better experience for my first Airbnb stay!
I appreciated her attention to every detail about making guests feel welcome and cared for- the selection of breakfast fare- fruits, yogurt, granola, breads ( gluten-free options), coffee, bottle of cold water for the room, comfortable bed with impeccable linens, lovely garden seating, hot tub, large bathroom, and a sweet handwritten note left each day checking in to see how everything was. And her handsome house master, Watson ( Dog-Boxer) gave me the most loving dog "hug" I have ever received! I was in Portland for a 1 week NIA Technique White Belt Training and it was so nice to have a "home base" to retreat to at day's end, to rest, recover and process all that I was learning and receiving. Highly recommend staying with Kathleen for your next visit to Portland. I know I will stay again in a flat minute!
Wow, this was my very first Air BnB experience and I was completely blown away-in the very best way possible!
I was looking for clean accommodations, a convenient location, and a safe neighborhood. To my pleasant surprise, not only were my expectations met but far surpassed!
I messaged Kathleen to book last minute accommodations and she responded expeditiously. She not only graciously accepted my last minute booking but offered to taylor her plans around my arrival time!
As soon as I arrived, I received a warm welcome from Kathleen. Kathleen's house is very clean and neat. The bedroom is spacious and very well organized. The sliding door to the back yard oasis made it feel much more relaxing and retreat-like. The bed is absolutely PERFECT. I had some of the best nights of deep sleep away from my own comfortable bed at Kathleen's!
The kitchen access is very convenient for meal prep. The best part was the delicious and healthy treats Kathleen provided for her guests! It saved me many mornings when hungry and rushing out the door!
If you are traveling to the Portland area and are looking for a clean, comfortable, relaxing, safe neighborhood, close to great shops, and close to highway access, I highly recommend staying with Kathleen! I wish there was a 6th star rating option because Kathleen certainly deserves it!
Thank you Kathleen and Watson (the very well-mannered handsome boxer) for the warm welcome into your beautiful home and for making my stay in NE Portland truly a home away from home experience!
Kathleen was an amazing host. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and knew the lay of her house. The room and house were great, would definitely recommend.
Kathleen was a great host! We tend to keep to ourselves, and she allowed us the freedom of a hotel room, but was always available for suggestions on restaurants or sights to see. The house is in a wonderful part of town, close to the public transport and close enough to walk to many local restaurants. She provided many amenities like TV with Chromecast, toiletries for the shower, and breakfast in the morning. (The coffee cakes were amazing) She has a hot tub in the back yard, and it's fantastic.
If we come back to Portland we will absolutely look her up again!!

About the Host, Kathleen
Hey there Travelers!
I'm fun-loving, very social and love meeting new people. I embrace diversity and value people's differences as much as I enjoy sharing common interests with them.
I am fascinated with other cultures and traditions and always seek ways to broaden my world. I figured opening my home to travelers would be a fine way to nurture that goal.
I love to garden, cook, read and I am an aspiring writer. I love art in every form. My music interests include almost every genre. Speaking of art, I'm something of an artist at putting my feet up in my garden with a glass of wine at the end of a hard day's work and you are welcome to join when you're here!
I wish I could travel more, but lead a very busy life helping manage a local restaurant. A busy fine dining/ live music venue featuring fantastic local musicians.
Being in the restaurant/bar industry allows me to appreciate people from all walks of life. Everyone has a story. I look forward to hearing yours if you're in a sharing mood.
No pressure! :)
I love animals as much as I love people. My beloved Boxer, Mugsy died at the ripe old age of ten. He went deaf in his last years, but since I have a background in special education, working with deaf and hard of hearing children, I had the foresight to teach him sign language as a puppy, so we didn't have any trouble communicating in his last years! It took me a long time to grieve for him. My latest Boxer is Watson. He is a handsome, playful, very joyful companion and is also learning to understand sign language. Come meet Watson!
Being a Boxer owner might tell you a little about me. Boxers are smart, loyal, full of energy, fun loving, and maintain their playful "puppy-like" attitude their whole life! They can also be rather stubborn and determined at times! People who choose the breed appreciate those qualities, most likely because they themselves exhibit the same traits! :)
I'm humbled when friends have described me with these traits and surely aspire to live my life as large and loving as a boxer!
I look forward to hosting you during your stay here in beautiful, Portland, Oregon! Welcome!
