Our Craftsman Bungalow is smack-dab in the heart of Division Restaurant District in the South East neighborhood of Portland. We offer a queen bed on the main floor, a nursery (crib w/ adjacent futon) and the entire top floor suite: a renovated Master Bed & Bath nestled into the lofty 2nd floor of our updated 1909 home. The bath is a creative use of space, tucked into a hip gable, complete with tub (for one).
Roomy, light and open, the master suite uses every inch of a large floor plan. Shelving and drawers and closets: you can definitely allow yourself to spread out. We have a mini-fridge and kettle for your leftovers and coffee/tea, respectively. It is cozy, warm and bright.
All bedrooms have pillow top matresses and a side, single mattress available for additional guest / child use. Fresh linens and towels are provided as well as shampoo, conditioner and soap.
Laundry is available in the Basement.
We are located just a 5 minute walk from The Baghdad Theater in the shopping mecca of Hawthorne District and mere steps to the coffee, dining, antiques and drinks of the Division St Food District, which includes the famous PokPok, Whiskey Soda Lounge, Salt & Straw Ice Cream, Sunshine Tavern, Omaru Japanese, Little Big Burger, Authentic Thai, Richmond Bar, Hedgehouse and Ava Jeans just to name a few.
The number 4 bus picks up a at the end of our street and takes riders directly to downtown and the Pearl District.
With dozens of restaurants nearby, most guests don't use the kitchen, but it is available. Coffee and Tea are available any time day or night.
We offer Free wifi and use of our record collection. We own a television with DVD player & Roku.
Please respect the no smoking, no shoes in the house and no pet policy.
Front and Back doors lead to a main floor. The remodeled Attic, off the kitchen, has an open floor plan with adjacent private bathroom.
Guests have full use of the kitchen, but with so many inventive culinary experiences within a 5-minute walk, the kitchen is hardly necessary. Laundry is available in basement.
Interaction with Guests
We are a phone call away to give restaurant or bar suggestions and love to help make the trip to Portland a memorable one.
Inner SE is the pocket neighborhood gem of the city. Food Carts blossomed here. As did Stumptown Coffee, Pok Pok and the Waffle Window. McMenamin's signature theater, the newly re-opened Bagdad, is walking distance.
The #4 bus runs every 15 minutes during the day. It goes directly to Pioneer Courthouse Square downtown, which is called the living room of Portland. It can hold two bikes.
Other Things to Note
Coffee and Tea are available. We have many resources for Oregon travelers and Portland diners.
We prefer to uphold a strict no shoes policy. One look at the original 1909 vertical grain Douglas Fir Floors and you will see why.
No smoking. No drugs. No pets.
The house is clean, homey and comfortable. Respecting it to insure every stay in this home is too.
Kyle and Elle were incredibly warm and generous, and their house is lovely. They gave us all kinds of great Portland advice and let us cook in their kitchen and borrow their dish ware to bring to a potluck. They're great hosts. We really enjoyed our stay.
My husband and I had a great visit. Kyle and Elle were wonderful hosts and extremely helpful guiding us around Portland. We enjoyed sharing our daily adventures with them.
Kyle, Elle, and Paloma were fantastic! They gave great advice on places to check out and had loads of Portland magazines in their house. The house is super charming and is highly recommended!!
Olivia and I greatly enjoyed Kyle and Elle's hospitality. Their house is in a great location close to restaurants and quite accessible to downtown. We had a quiet and peaceful stay.
I had a wonderful stay. The room is very comfortable, and the house is just a few blocks from many great restaurants. They're great hosts and very friendly - Kyle even speaks Portuguese! I look forward to staying there again.
Clean, comfortable room with cozy bed and lots of closet and dresser space. The bathroom was very clean and well-appointed. The claw foot tub was a treat. Kyle and Elle were gracious hosts to my daughter and me as we used their home as a base to explore Portland and surrounding areas. The location is extremely convenient via car, mass transit. Also a good home base for runners; I enjoyed the trails along the Willamette River as well as an early morning run to Mount Tabor Park (thanks for the suggestion, Kyle!)
Well kept, tidy, arts and crafts' home with plenty of freedom to come and go. Main floor bedroom, bath and shower in antique tub. Easy parking on street close to Division/Hawthorne "people life" and restaurants. Kyle and Elle are a gracious couple and hosts sharing their lives and their soon-to-baby's arrival over an early morning cup of coffee and tea. We would definitely stay again.
