The house is great if you have a large group. We were a bunch of professors and grad students attending a convention at the downtown convention center (about 25 minutes by foot). The rooms have comfortable beds, and are well decorated. Everything was very clean upon arrival. The house was well stocked with essentials--towels, shampoo and conditioner, coffee, and local beer. There is a lovely backyard, which is larger than what it seems in the photographs. I would definitely recommend staying with Justin and Becca.
Justin and Becca's home couldn't have been a better place to spend my birthday weekend! The house was perfect for accommodating a large group. The photos just don't do this house justice! And even when we couldn't figure out how to get the hot water heater on (button is next to the thermostat upstairs FYI ;) they got back to me immmidiately and told me what to do. I hope that we get to return and do it again!
Justin & Becca's gorgeous home really made our stay in Austin special. The house is not at all misrepresented by the pictures, it's truly that beautiful and unique. I hope it's been photographed for design magazines, because its deserving.
In any event, for my 30th some family and friends flew to Austin to celebrate together. In all we were 9 people, and we slept very comfortably. There are 4 bedrooms downstairs (plus extra mattresses) and a big loft area with 3 mattresses upstairs - plus two big bathrooms. The backyard is a major highlight with a fire pit, hula hoops, a dining area etc. We ate a few meals in the yard using their dishes and cutlery.
The location is actually great, when we first arrived I was worried it was too residential or a bit off the beaten path, then quickly learned that we could walk or drive to the city (we did both). East Austin and their 'hood is definitely gentrifying with cute shops and restaurants popping up everywhere.
Justin and Becca were great too. They left all the info we needed for us, and even left some beers in the fridge for us! (We left a few behind for them to keep things fair.) Honestly I couldnt recommend this placer more highly, I never wanted to leave!
Justin and Becca have a great home for large groups visiting Austin. Our bachelor party group of 12 had a great time looking around the unique rooms and had plenty of space. I'll definitely stay at their place again if I'm going to Austin with a large group!
The owners were extremely accommodating. The house is great, sleeps 10+ guys, located in so close to the downtown district (we actually walked to 6th street and even Rainey street from the house). The owners welcomed us with beer in the fridge and charcoal for the barbecue in the enormous backyard. Very eclectic interior design, truly an enjoyable stay for our long bachelor party / F1 race weekend. We are definitely considering staying here again in the future.
Our group of 13 had a fantastic time staying at Justin's and Becca's super-swanky house in an up-and-coming area of Austin. The house's aesthetics were neat (the photos don't lie), the kitchen is huge and equipped with enough cutlery/place settings for a five-course dinner party. The backyard (includes a fire pit) was a perfect place to unwind after coming home from nights out. Thanks Justin and Becca for helping us have a great trip!
This house was great. Justin and Becca had a stack of spare keys for our guests. They were prompt to respond to any of our questions and just seem like great people. The house itself is full of character. It's old and beautiful and has a spectacular energy. It's close enough to town that you can walk if you're so inclined. If not, it's a short taxi to anywhere you want to go. Every morning we'd walk to the cafe on the corner for great coffee and breakfasts. I look forward to coming back one of these days!
So we had our wedding planned perfectly - in Manor. At the last minute (5 days before the wedding), our location was flooded and we searched around desperately all over the Austin area for a place for the wedding reception. At last, we found this amazing house and yard, and had an incredible wedding which many of our guests said it seemed like we had planned it here. The house is magical, and the yard was huge. We will always be so grateful to Becca and Justin for their help and generosity. Thanks for saving our wedding!!
What a great house to use for any sort of reunion, get-together, bachelor party, etc! There were 4 separate bedrooms and a huge upstairs loft - and at least 9 mattresses and I'm probably missing one or two. I spoke with Becca over the phone twice prior to our stay and she was extremely nice. The house doesn't look like much from the outside but it is amazing on the inside - very eclectic and nicely decorated. The backyard, which we did not take advantage of, is large with lots of room for a BBQ or a backyard get-together.
The one negative was they had a construction crew doing work to the outside of the house and due to a scheduling error, they showed up on Monday morning while we were still there. Becca was very understanding and even gave us a discount on the rate to make up for the inconvenience - this turned the 4 star experience back into a 5 star experience.
Location-wise, the house is a 10-15 minute walk from downtown and the heart of 6th Street. I'm blanking on the name of the place but the most famous BBQ joint is a 2 block walk from the house - we didn't go due to the line that forms 2 hours before opening but I hear it is well worth the wait.
Overall, a fantastic experience and if we ever head back to Austin for another reunion, we will without a doubt be using this house again!
My friends and I had a great time at Justin & Becca's house. It has plenty of room, big bedrooms, huge bathrooms, and a cool backyard. The decor is very eclectic, and very Austin, and I mean that in the best way possible. It is walkable to great bars and restaurants.
