The Space

A big 5-bedroom, 2-bathroom flat, next to 19th and Mission Street, right in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District.

Your room has 1 king-sized bed, a TV, a closet, a drawer, a bookcase, a spacious desk and a wide window overlooking Mission Street. Amenities include Wi-Fi, washer, dryer, living room and a kitchen. The flat is shared between 2 guys and 2 lovely gals. We're nice and loving people and we've been doing Airbnb for a while now.

We're two blocks away from BART, which goes to Financial District, Moscone Center, Ferry Building, San Francisco Airport, Oakland, Berkeley, and many other places.
We're also located next to several major bus lines which go to Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's Wharf, Haight Ashbury, Castro, Dolores Park, and many other places.

There are plenty of world-class restaurants in the area, including Taqueria Cancun, Bi-Rite Creamery, Pizzeria Delfina, Flour & Water, and many more. If you're into the night scene, you will find Beauty Bar, Dr. Teeth's, Blondie's and other great places right next door.

If you've ever wanted to see how it's like to live in the Mission, this is your chance!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I would recommend staying in this cute room on Mission street. Dimitry and his roommates are very welcoming and helpful. I had very good email communication with Dimitry. I arrived 3 hours prior to check-in time and Dimitry suggested a few good places to have dinner nearby. He suggested Taqueria Can Cun, which is about 30 feet from the front door of "The Hunting Lodge" as this Airbnb is themed (you'll see why as you enter). This Taqueria is open from ~9am until the next day at 3 am, and very busy and popular with the mixed population of this neighborhood. The bus #14 stops in front and is an easy link to downtown and the Embarcadero. Alternatively, trolleybus #33 takes you to Castro, where one can hop on the J line or the Market Street historic streetcar. Bart stops only a few streets away at 16th and Mission. As a new guest in San Francisco I would recommend buying a weekly pass. While Dimitry is pretty busy and sometimes not present for days, his housemates are very helpful. The room is clean, and Dimitry has maps, city tour fliers, water bottles and energy bars waiting for you in the room. Just what a city explorer needs! And this room I believe is best suited for an active visitor. Mission street, with all the buses, bars (there is one on the corner of 19th and Mission), and the occasional garbage truck at 4 am can be a bit noisy. I would suggest leaving the windows open during the day for airflow and closing them just as you go to bed if you are a light sleeper. The toilet and bathroom are clean. This is an old house and has only one bathroom and a toilet (they are in 2 separate rooms). Don't worry, there is never a line down the corridor! There is a washer/dryer and detergent in a nook in the kitchen for the guests to use as well. The wifi connection is good and there is a big TV in the room, but who needs that after a day of exploring the city?

  • I really enjoyed staying in this apartment, nice people, and Dmitri is a great host, who took care immediately about any of mine requests, even bought me a hair dryer when I asked if the have one available! Responded always instantly. Location is close to my favorite Valencia street which you should not miss...

  • From the free map of San Francisco to the snacks in my room upon arrival, Dmitri was a simply fantastic host. He gave me keys to my room - which had a really comfortable bed - and allowed me to come and go as I pleased, which is something I consider extremely vital for a satisfactory stay with any host. Finally his place is in a really cool area close to a BART (subway/metro) station and loads of other cool spots. Highly recommended.

  • Exactly as described. Great communication. I'd stay there again, especially because I like the energy of the Mission.

  • Great host! Dmitri is super helpful, had great tips on local places to check out, and went out of his way to make it easy for me to check in. Spacious room, comfy, clean, a bit noisy but I don't mind cos I like being in the thick of it all. Great place to stay if you're up for socialising with some locals in their 20s (if they're around). The Mission is a colourful, lively neighbourhood - I loved it.

  • Staying at The Hunting Lodge was an awesome experience. It's in a great location for restaurants/bars. I was new to San Francisco so one of the roommates offered to ride bikes with me throughout the city. It was a great day of exploring that ended with food and drinks at a nearby rooftop bar. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Amazing little spot right in the heart of mission ... 3 buisnesses away from no 1 rated taqueria in SF .. close to lots of amazing bars, live music ... steps from castro. Whether your outgoing, ingoing, rightgoing, leftgoing, hardgoing ,soft going easygoing or simply just going these folks that will host you are just a premium blend of human beings. Mariam was very welcoming and friendly but the atmosphere was also private. Didnt see as much of Will but whenever I did he was very generous and helpful in providing hints about the city. Would most definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to really live a genuine san francisco experience

  • I had a lovely stay! I got to meet all the roommates and every one of them was kind and welcoming! Getting the keys and getting settled was a breeze and it's in such a great location for public transit! There was some headache meds and earplugs in the room for me as well, I definitely used the headache pills after my night out! Would definitely recommend their home! And as other reviewers have said the bed is very comfy!

  • Dmitri was a great host. He kept in constant contact with me prior and after booking and was there to greet me when I arrived my first evening. He was hands off but very courteous whenever we ran across each other.

The apartment was centrally located and near some fun spots like Mission Chinese which allowed me to grab a quick lunch with minimal fuss. The king sized bed sits on the floor. It was spacious and comfortable as was the down comforter Dmitri provided. The place is clean but run down. It has a single shared bathroom but I never had any issues using it. Wifi is available but very spotty at times. Keys were provided so I was able to come and go as I please. There were four other roommates but I never saw them save one. I did hear them though. Kitchen and laundry facilities offered but weren't used so I cannot comment.

This is a household of "young" professionals and is very active. The room is next to the main communal (read: living) room and combined with the street noise, makes for lively days and late nights. Complimentary earplugs provided!

Just like the title says, the flat truly is overlooking Mission Street. Consider if you have a strong reason to need to be close to a venue that is within walking distance, consider the location. Also, consider if you are using it as a place to hang out, just to crash, or as a layover for something else.
