This urban, industrial style, one bedroom, one bathroom loft is located in the heart of Calgary's entertainment and dining district. From this location on 17th Avenue, you are within a 10 minute walk of the downtown core, Stampede grounds, Saddledome (professional sporting events and concerts), Talisman Centre (recreation and fitness), C-Train (Calgary public transit), shopping and many of Calgary's best restaurants and bars. *Please keep in mind that because this apartment is located right in the middle of the pub and restaurant district, it can be loud at night (especially on weekends).
The apartment is fully furnished and features approximately 650 square feet of living space, 10 foot ceilings, open floor-plan, large, south-facing windows, polished concrete floors, queen-sized bed, 50-inch plasma TV (with cable), wireless internet, wireless printer, pull out sofa (to accomodate up to two extra guests) and plenty of closet space. There is also an assigned (free) parking space behind the building should you need it.
Some of my favorite things to do that are within a 10 minute walking distance: Walks with my dog along the Elbow River (building is pet-friendly), going for coffee and crepes at La Boulengerie, margaritas at Anejo Restaurant, watching a Calgary Flames game, visiting the Elbow Casino for table games or to watch Yuk Yuk's live stand-up comedy, shopping at The Core, going for lunch at Boxwood Restaurant or visiting Sunterra Market for organic produce.
*As a side note, this apartment is in an older building. This means that during the winter, it may be cold in the apartment. There is a space heater that will keep it warm enough, but it should be turned on when the temperature is below freezing. Also, due to the relative thinness of the walls, it can be loud at times. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to bring earplugs or play ambient music at night.

I (email hidden) with my family and we all like it! Its a really nice loft, located right in downtown Clagary, lots of restaurants and bars, and a few blocks from Stampade. It is noisy during night but is because of the area. In my opinion in a city like Calgary, it better to stay downtown even with the (website hidden) of all, has a parking spot!
Matt is a very practical, fast comunication and easy going person, I would definitely stay there again!
Communication with Matt was easy. The apartment is located in a great area with lots around. I stayed Sun and left Friday - there was zero issue with noise during the week (some of the other reviews stated it could be noisy). The apartment is spacious and has a great look. Matt had a hairdryer - which was appreciated. I was worried that I would have problems with allergies (due to the fact that Matt states he has a dog and cat), however, there was no pet hair anywhere and no issues with allergies what-so-ever.
This property is all about the location - you can easily get almost anywhere! It also has parking! If those are important preferences it's a great (website hidden) kept in touch but there was no need to meet up with him - he made access convenient. One downside - it smelled like smoke. The people staying prior to us must have been smokers but after airing it out and using air freshener it was okay. This is on a young, hip strip in the city with a party atmosphere and is a bit noisy. If that is not for you, I suggest bringing earplugs so you can sleep or choosing a more sophisticated location.
Matt replied very quickly and his apartment was exactly how it was listed. He messaged me the first day I got there to make sure I had found everything okay.
The location was perfect, right on 17th and walking distance to many things. The apartment had everything I needed.

Excellent location for my business trip, very close to down town. Never met Matt but he assisted me via phone when I was checking in. He responded quickly to my messages. Good value for the price. 3-1/2 stars.
Matt's place is great! It is centrally located to a lot of great restaurants and places in downtown Calgary. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the modern apt, big TV and comfortable bed. It has a lot of space to settle into, it is very clean and the kitchen is fully equipped and was great for our needs. The building is a little sketchy - hallways are dark and smelled like smoke and animals, and walls are a little thin, but the people were nice and laundry room was easy to use and clean. It was really easy to work and communicate with Matt and he gave great recommendations for local food and things to do. We'd recommend it to anyone traveling through Calgary.

If you're looking to experience life in the city centre, this is the place to stay. The downtown is easily walkable, and you're surrounded by restaurant after restaurant after restaurant. The loft itself was clean and looks exactly as photographed. Matt (email hidden), and quick to respond when you have questions or paranoid thoughts (guilty!). As others have mentioned, it does get a little noisy, but I didn't find it overly bothersome, and I tend to be a light sleeper. On the other hand, perhaps we got lucky staying over the long weekend: it seemed as though the entire city evacuated for a mini getaway. We did find that we had to close the windows at night, however, to block out the sounds of people coming and going / car lock beeps / etc. Considering the best cool breezes come in at night, that was the only drawback to the level of activity around the building. Overall, you can't beat the location of Matt's property, or having Matt as a host. Would definitely love to stay here again. Thanks Matt!
