Description

The space

This apartment is located at the Electra Building, the old BC Hydro company building from 1957. Renovated and adapted to residential in 1995 it retains the modernistic charm of the '50s. It was Vancouver’s first skyscraper, then the first commercial building to be designated heritage.

Apartment:
queen-size bed
high-quality linens and towels
high-speed wireless internet
TV and cable
hair dryer
iron and iron board
phone with unlimited local calls

Fully equipped kitchen includes:
dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker
pots, pans, glasses, cutlery
basic condiments

Guest access

The building:
3 high-speed elevators
gym and sauna
no-smoking environment
security electronic keys to the building and elevator
free laundry room - 4 washers and dryers on the same floor

Interaction with guests

I try to meet all my guests on check-in, hand the keys, and explain the basics of the apartment and neighbourhood. I will be available during your stay over the phone, and come by if you need any assistance.

The neighborhood

You will be at the best location to explore Vancouver, as the Electra Building is at the very centre of downtown, on the corner of Nelson and Burrard streets. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, bars, clothing stores, within 3 blocks. There's a supermarket (open to midnight everyday) a block away and a drugstore two blocks away.

Getting around

Coming from the airport It’s a $35 flat-fee to downtown and the ride takes around 25 minutes. The other option would be the subway (Canada Line). That costs $9 each ticket and it will take you around 45 minutes, between waiting time, ride, and a walk of a few blocks.
Public transit options are plenty around the building, but you'll be able to walk everywhere: Convention Centre, Vancouver Art Gallery, Yaletown, Gastown, English Bay, Stanley Park and much more.

Other things to note

Things my guests love about this unit:
– The view!
– Location. Awesome spot for exploring the city on foot.
– Free washer and dryer on the same floor.
– Quiet spot in a downtown setting
– Safe building and area.
– Supermarket one block away, open to midnight.
----
Things some guests don't like as much:
– The building has no parking. You can park nearby for around $20 per day.
– The blinds don't cut the morning light completely.
– Although this apartment is surprisingly quiet for a downtown location, you'll hear the occasional emergency car siren.
----
LGBT and straight friendly.
Please note that I only hand keys to the person who booked the reservation and you must show valid picture ID.

I stayed in this apartment for a week while attending a conference in the Sheraton wall center (right across the street!). The check-in went completely smoothly and the apartment was perfect for me. Lili was an excellent host and provided great tips on activities in the area. One thing to note is that, as the description says, the shades let in quite a bit of light in the morning, so if you're at all sensitive to this don't plan on sleeping in.

Lili & Ken's place was awesome. Her friend Fernanda, was there to explain everything and Lili was always there to answer every question I asked. The place is located in an excellent zone, walking distance to downtown, restaurants, shopping, etc. Very clean and nice place to stay. I'd stay there again on my next vacation in Vancouver. Thanks for all Lili.

We loved staying at Lili's place! It was our first time at an Airbnb and the experience was wonderful. Fernanda, Lili's friend, was waiting in the lobby for us when we arrived. She was very kind and explained the buildings amenities to us. The apartment was clean and looked exactly like the pictures. There are multiple bus stops right outside the building. I definitely recommend Lili's place!

I stayed in Ken and Lili's apartment for three nights while attending a workshop downtown. It is ideally situated, only a few minutes' walk from UBC Robson, good restaurants, and other locations. There is a very nice north-facing view. There is the occasional siren, but the building itself is very quiet and nicely combines its original purpose with modernizations. I would definitely stay here again!

Lili and Ken's place was fantastic. The view was incredible and the location was great for shopping, restaurants and public transport. We were also very grateful to have access to a washer dryer. Lili was very responsive and helpful.

A wonderful apartment perfectly located downtown. We were in town to work for the week and it was the ideal spot for us. Quick access to the office and walking distance to so many great places. Clean, cozy; a really wonderful place. Will definitely stay again next time we're in Vancouver.

What an amazing location! This apartment is a great base to explore all that Vancouver has to offer. Lots of restaurants only minutes away, as well as a large supermarket. I couldn't get enough of that view either!! Thanks Lili, you were a great host and it was lovely to meet you. Be sure to check out Earl's kitchen around the corner, the food is amazing (thanks for the recommendation, Lili!)

Lili & Ken User ProfileLili & Ken is a superhost.

I'm an Airbnb veteran, hosting since July 2010 and loving every minute of it. I do a lot of volunteering, namely as the vice-president of Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre, and spokesperson of the Brazilian Consulate's Citizen Council.

I immigrated from Brazil to Vancouver in 2008 and got my Canadian citizenship two years ago. Ken, my partner, is the chief film critic of the Georgia Straight, Vancouver's weekly entertainment newspaper. As you can imagine, we watch more movies in one year than most people in their whole lives! I love cooking and baking with the great local products we find here.

I totally fell in love with Vancouver as soon as I got here, and I'm sure you will, too. (Or maybe you are returning for a visit and know exactly what I'm talking about!)

You will find a clean and comfortable apartment at the perfect location to explore the city, and we'll do our best to make your stay enjoyable and stress-free.

Feel free to contact us with any questions.

We hope to see you soon!
