GASTRONOMIC Flat -For food lovers

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Calle de Rocafort, Barcelona, Catalonia 08015, Spain

Are you looking to experience the real Barcelona, not just the one found in tourist guides? Our family apartment will soon make you feel at home.

The Space

Our spacious, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment has recently been renovated to a very high standard. With an open plan living space suitable for entertaining up to 6 people, we have also had the kitchen replaced and created a separate breakfast bar area for informal eating. Our living room is very bright and spacious, which makes a great space for relaxing.
The large kitchen has a gas cooker, large fridge and freezer, dishwasher and wine fridge (we offer a wide range of local wines from our wine fridge). Fabio and I love cooking and entertaining friends so our kitchen caters for cooking lovers. There are plenty of cupboards to be filled with everything you need to cook whatever takes you fancy.

There are 3 bedrooms:
Master bedroom: with a double bed and a balcony.
2nd bedroom: with bunk beds and a balcony
3rd bedroom: with 2 individual beds.
We also have 2 bathrooms: one with a large bathtub and shower over the tub, and another one with a standing shower.

Guest Access

Linen and towels are included in the price.

Interaction with Guests

Most of the time we are away, but our friends in the city will be very happy to welcome you and show you the best way to enjoy your time.

The Neighborhood

Just 5 minutes walk far from the FIRA (where major exhibitions take place) and Monjuich Mountain Museums (Miró, Caixa Forum, MNAC). You can also take the bus or metro (just 1 minute away) and you will be in Plaza Cataluña in less than 4 stops. The coast and beaches are also a short bus ride or 15 minute walk.
It’s a great location for food lovers. We are a 5 minute walk from a huge indoor foodm, Sant Antoni Market, selling the best that Spain has to offer in seasonal produce. It takes 90 minutes to walk round it browsing. We buy most of our fresh produce here, fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, pulses and more. If you want a break from shopping, stop for a glass of cava and a small bite at one of the many cafes in the market. As well as being a great place to cook, it’s a great location for eating out.
The apartment is in the heart of a neighbourhood where the best TAPAS bars are located (Tickets and Bodega 1900 by Ferran Adria, Lolita, Bohemic, Casa Lucio, Federal Cafe and the recently opened Pakta).

Other Things to Note

We have kids, so we can offer you a high-chair or a cot if you need it, and plenty of child friendly cutlery.

If you wish to taste at home divine local dishes cooked specially for you, we can suggest you a local friend that will cater for you and family.

Cleaning and baby sitting services can be provided upon request.

  • Sara's flat was amazing. Host was easy to contact and good about accommodating our requests. The apartment was well appointed with all the necessities. Towels and bed linens were of high quality, plenty of china and silverware and assorted utensils. the apartment was clean and as pictured on the website. The location is central to all the beautiful sights Barcelona has to offer. The subway is right outside the building. We were able to walk to many destinations on out itinerary. Her recommendations as to where to eat and drink were spot on. We loved Bar Calderes and Lolita which are both within walking distance from the apartment. Thanks so much for a memorable trip.

  • Sara's flat is really lovely - nice decor, good light, and great kitchen. We had a really good stay there in Feb 2013 for a week with a group of work colleagues for a conference. The WIFI is fast and reliable. Showers have good pressure and heat. I really only have two tiny details to point out - we could have used more towels for our stay; none in the kitchen or hand towels in bathroom. And secondly there was no toilet paper for either of the toilets so we just went to shop downstairs and bought some. These are really minor details though, and overall I recommend Sara's flat without any reservations! She also was quick to reply to requests and questions via email, so very good on organization front.

  • Sara's flat was the PERFECT place for our family of 4 to stay for our 2 weeks in Barcelona. The location is great--just outside the old city, and next to Poble Sec metro, with a high concentration of good restaurants all around. Walking distance to the Gothic Quarter, Born, Barceloneta, museums of Mont Juic, etc. and easy access to everywhere else. The apartment was clean and well equipped with everything we could possibly need, including a stroller. Sara was an extremely thoughtful host (we loved the bottle of cava!) and her recommendations for restaurants were spot on. Stephanie was also very helpful and made the check in/check out process a breeze. We'll be recommending Sara's flat to all our friends.

  • Our family spent an entire month in Sara & Fabio's flat in Oct-Nov with our two sons (3 years old & 1 year old). The apartment is perfect for families, but would also be suitable for an ever larger group, since there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The layout of the flat is really nice, since the kitchen and living room are situated on the other end of the flat from the bedrooms, so adults/part of the group can stay up late and not cause any disturbance to those who prefer to go to sleep early.

The apartment is funky, stylish and well-equipped. It's not entirely noise-free (the street noise is unnoticeable, but there is some loud chatter in the building during dinner time), but then again - this is Spain, it's not supposed to be lively. So this didn't bother us at all.
We were unfamiliar with the neighbourhood of Sant Antoni, but it is absolutely lovely! There are tons of lovely cafes (try Taranna, Cometa and Federal on Calle Parliament for starters) and restaurants nearby.

The metro takes you pretty much anywhere in minutes. The metro stop is right outside the flat. (The Poble Sec metro station has no elevator, though, so carrying our baby's stroller was a bit frustrating every time, but no big problem!) There are other stations nearby too (Sant Antoni, Rocafort) so there are other metro lines to choose from. The location is so convenient!

And as said, the area is charming: lively and genuinely local, but not too shabby and loud (like Raval, although it's cool too) and not too touristy either. Just perfect!

There are plenty of grocery stores to choose from within a few blocks, as well as playgrounds (for those travelling with small kids). Our favourite parks were probably the one on Carrer Manso (the inner courtyard next to the Goethe Institute) and Parc de Joan Miro. The playground of the Sant Antoni Library is also really nice.

We didn't have many questions during our stay due to the fabulous flat folder provided, but when we did, Sara helped us immediately. We can definitely recommend Sara & Fabio's place and will probably stay there again some day!

  • Host: First Sara is the most helpful, attending host you can ever think of. The help she assist with is far more than any traveling agent would ever provide.
Me:I am an interior designer an extremely sensitive in all matters. We stayed in the gastro flat for one month in September. Two adults and one kid at 4½ years old.
Interior: Interior was welcoming, warm, personal and equal to the pictures. You felt the love that has been in the process of creating this wonderful home, which is obviously not made for just renting purpose.
Rooms: The master bedroom is small and cozy. The madras is really comfortable not to hard not to soft, as in a very good hotel. There are Scandinavian duvets as well. The children room is perfect, roomy and with a balcony, though if you are a very sound sensitive family you should know the sleeping rooms are located towards the street. There is lots of storage, hangers and closet room. We used the guest room as a walk-in, that worked perfectly.
Flat: The flat is fully equipped. The cava in the fridge is super good and has a fair price. There is even a children stroller you can borrow in the flat. I loved the plan of the apartment, very practical, the private rooms in one end, the heart of the flat is the kitchen, eating and living room are in one area with lots of light and working area is located a little more private/quite. The wifi is super not the fastest of them all but fast enough for streaming YouTube, (website hidden) etc. The kitchen is a true hang out kitchen. The people living in the building are the most open, helpful and sweet people.
Area: You have everything on the street you need plus buses and metro. The area is busy, local, not posh in any way and I would judge the area to be very upcoming and with the help of Ferran Adrià how choose to put 5 of his restaurants just in this area and less than 3-10 min. walking distance from the flat to be only a help. By the way remember to book your tables already now if you want to go eat at ex Tickets.

  • Stayed in Sara's flat for 4 nights in April with my friend and our 2 boys. Sara was very responsive during my planning of the trip, not only with info. on her flat, but also with our questions related to our stay in Barcelona. The flat was just great. Had everything we needed for our stay. Great location, great food on the doorstep and great host.

  • We stayed at Sara's flat with 2 children (2yo and 6yo) and found it to be just perfect and even more awesome than advertised. It is spacious, clean, the location is great and close to everything. Fully equipped for family needs and every small detail is attended to. Check-in and check-out was very smooth and friendly and Sara was very responsive to our questions and needs. We loved it and will definitely recommend it to our friends!

  • A beautiful flat in a very convenient location. We stayed with a production team on business and appreciated the two bathrooms and the ample space in the living area. WLAN very fast and the little corner shop in the building is ideal for getting supplies. We ate across the road in the Japanese-Brasilian place and loved it. Communication, pick-up and lock-up was smooth and very friendly indeed. It is stocked to cater to families but we can highly recommend it for business or couples.

  • We had a wonderful time in Barcelona and a big part of that was having a cosy, family friendly home to come back to. The apartment was terrific in every way. It was clean, modern and accommodated all of our needs. Our 16 month old son loved playing with the drum kit! Sara was a wonderful host, very kind, generous, informative and went out of her way to make us feel at home. The flat book is excellent, some terrific recommendations for cafes and supermarkets in the area. We would heartily recommend this apartment to travelers to Barcelona!
