We had a lovely stay at Philip and Mary Jo's house. The room was warm, comfortable (the Temperpedic mattress is excellent), and private, and the Morrisseys cooked up a storm of a breakfast for us. They were wonderful company, their home is well situated near to many wineries, Shenandoah, and also to Staunton, where we found some good restaurants for dinner. As a plus, the goats were quite friendly.
Phillip and Mary Jo were more than gracious hosts. I can honestly say that I would stay with them again and I would highly recommend them.
They have a beautiful old home in an area full of things to do. We went to Cross Keys Vinyard and hung out in downtown Harrisonburg.
The memory foam bed was awesome, they have a sweet dog named Dixie and a bunch of goats. What more could you ask for?
Breakfast was excellent as well. That is when we actually got to know them a little better. After a couple hours of random conversation, we were on our way. Great people! Thanks again Phillip and Mary Jo.
We hit some bad traffic and got in around 11pm. Philip was perky and greeted us in a very friendly manner. The house and land are beautiful. It's a shame we didn't have more time to get a tour, but we were on our way to Louisiana. I'd definitely stay here again. Thanks!
I really enjoyed my stay at Antebellum Country Farmhouse. The house and the bedroom were charming - very nicely decorated. The scenery was beautiful, and the goats were fun to observe. It was a close drive to Massanutten were I enjoyed a hike on the Ridge Trail. It was also a close drive to the towns of Harrisonburg and Staunton where there are a lot of quaint shops and restaurants. Philip made a great, healthy breakfast and accommodated my vegetarian diet. Thanks for making my Thanksgiving getaway so enjoyable.
Breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley on your drive to Philip's beautiful home. A genial host as was his wife, I had a brief, restful stay. A lovely breakfast in the morning with a great cup of coffee and easy conversation helped ease me into my day. A wonderful place to stay ~ wish I could have explored the area further!
This is an amazing place in a great location. Super close to several wineries, Luray Caverns, and beautiful trails in the Shenandoah. We got in late and Philip was there to greet us. I love a British accent plus I knew I'd get my tea in the morning so I was happy. Then we went to bed and it is the most comfortable bed ever. The next morning Phillip cooked breakfast and his wife came out to talk to us. I had my breakfast tea. They have a dog so during the day you could hear the barking if you are super sensitive to it or super allergic to dogs this isn't the place for you. It is very easy to get to the house and easy to drive the scenic area. Wonderful weekend treat!
The house is more beautiful and the pictures can tell and Philip and Mary Jo were perfect hosts. Loved getting to know them and could have spoke endlessly with them as conversation was easy and interesting. Felt very at home in their house, never rushed, always welcome. Great place to stay and so convenient so Harrisonburg and just a stone's throw away from Massanutten Resort and Skyline Drive.
Staying with the Morrisseys was the epitome of an airbnb experience. Conversation with Phil and Mary Jo - priceless.
Their antebellum house shows the artistic talent of Mary Jo, a kitchen and bath designer. Our room was perfectly comfortable with a king size bed and private bath, the Shenandoah Valley setting is gorgeous and who knew goats could be so cute and puppy-like? Phil cooks up a gourmet breakfast.. They recommended an excellent BBQ restaurant (Hank's) just a few miles away. You couldn't ask for more.
Thanks for a classy experience.
Really easy place to be. Wonderfully likable people.
We fell in love with Philip, not only because his delicious breakfast, but also his friendly attitude. The experience was absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much, Philip!
