First, I'd like to say that my only regret about staying here is that we only had two nights. There is no doubt in my mind that one day we will return to stay at Trullicoloarossa.
The facility is amazing, and it is clear that Donato and his family love what they do and have put their heart and souls into creating a place that families will love, too. Everything was clean, and a fire awaited us upon our arrival. The breakfast was amazing, and Donato fed us even after we were very, very late waking. :) Our 4 year old daughter loved the small playground and the fish pond. It is lovely to sit on the deck, do some yoga, and be able to see her play. We only regret Donato's daughter had not yet arrived from Greece to join in the fun.
Donato was prepared with the perfect list of suggested visits and restaurants, which made our exploration of the area much easier. We learned a great deal about the history of the region from him and the excursions we were able to take.
We cooked dinner "at home" one evening, and the kitchen is perfectly stocked with everything you could need. Donato joined us for a glass of wine, and we had a lively discussion about politics, history, and economics.
Go stay at Trulicolarossa. You will not regret it. This family was meant to host guests, and they are working incredibly hard to make it an amazing place to be. Like I said, we will return. And next time it will be for a week!!
We loved the Trullo! Donato (Marias son) met us in Alberobello, showed us where to get a late night pizza, and drove us to the Trullo where he had lit a fire already. The area is great, Donato was very nice and informative, and the contact with the host was great before, during and after the stay. The Trullo is a short ride out of Alberobello centre.
A bit chilly in the Trullo, but it just adds to the authentic charm and experience.
Also, Maria left us some homemade cheese, which we ate all of, sorry about that :)
