Susanne was a great host, particularly given the fact we booked the accomodation at the very last minute. The cottage is cosy, clean and comfortable and really not far from the centre of Dresden at all. We had a lovely stay. Thanks Susanne.
Extraordinary! It’s the cutest Christmas cottage ever! We were warmly welcomed, cozy, and happy. It’s clean, private and the hosts are incredible. We thank you so much for helping to make our holidays wonderful. Our first AirBNB and possibly the best place we have ever stayed. We will be back!!
Cozy private wooden cabin not far from the city center via transit/car. Susanne also directed me to some really cheap all-day parking in the center of town. It was really frosty outside when I stayed here (mid December), but theres a big adjustable heater so it was really toasty and I even turned it way down at night because of the really warm comforter.
The wifi didnt work for me, but it may work for you.
This has been our best Airbnb experience so far. Susanne and his husband were really kind with us, very friendly and helpful.
The house is also very cozy, nice and warm.
We recommend this place 100%!
Our stopover at Dresden was amazing and the most beautiful thing we saw in the city was Susanne's cottage!
It is cute and adorable, with all the amenities imaginable including good heating, complete kitchen and bathroom and a living/sleeping space that is more than perfect. Ideal for up to 4 people but it is better for 2.
There is hot water, though it ran out out in the middle of my shower! Still the heating was so good that it didnt matter. All the equipment is very modern, but the atmosphere is classical!
It's also really near the city (esp if you have a car) and if you walk in the neighbourhood you can get the best views of Dresden because its on a hilltop.
If you are going to Dresden, make your trip double amazing by staying here.
I was very pleased to meet Susanne. What minimal language barrier there was between us she overcame with her generosity and warmth.
The cottage is as pictured and crammed full of every utensil, appliance and knick-knack a dedicated cook and homebody could wish for. It looks out on a wild and abundant garden that is struggling to return to nature but just kept in check. One of the best apples I’ve ever tasted was plucked off a tree there.
I had a comfortable stay even though I seemed to be in Dresden for a bit of a drizzling cold snap. I guessed that it must be a challenge to heat the cottage in winter. But no doubt there are ways and means. I’m sure it looks just as picturesque in winter as when I was there. In fact the whole area is picturesque with many extraordinary mansions about the place. There are several appealing restaurants in the area too that I would have liked to try had my stay been longer. The city is easily accessible, but with German public transport this is to be expected.
I did miss the use of wifi but never got around to asking Susanne if this was at all possible. I noted on my laptop that there were a few weak signals about just asking for a password to access.
Although my stay was very short on both days I happened to be around to witness the late afternoon pet rabbit and guinea pig feeding routine. It’s charming to see Susanne’s daughter go about this chore and to be proffered a cute critter to cuddle. Susanne’s kids are sweet and her husband Jürgen, who I encountered briefly, is also a jolly fellow.
I don’t mean to give the impression that a stay in the cottage would be a continual round of interactions with the family. The cottage is distant enough from the main house that I’m sure you could be left to your own devices for your entire stay should that be your wish. When I was there it seemed our paths crossed only by chance and I was starting to wonder on the first day if I’d meet my host at all. However it turned out a good balance between privacy and a couple of encounters. On my last day Susanne was good enough to take time out of her busy schedule to drop me at the train station.
So the cottage is as pictured: a comfortable, private, well equipped little cabin that’s fun to stay in. If I wanted to return to childhood I could imagine sitting in there with a few dolls and a toy tea service! However it’s a very well equipped, cosy, well-heeled, motel style ‘play’ space.
I hope I get a chance to return to Dresden and to the cottage.
Sehr netter Aufenthalt, vielen Dank.
