Interaction with Guests
Please contact me by phone or email if you have any questions!
When I’m not working, I’m usually out playing: hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, wine tasting, listening to local music or traveling. If you need help finding something to do, I can point you in the right direction!
Can't give away all the local secrets but definitely check out Pine St Bakery for morning coffee, pastries and piggies! Another fav spot is Volcanic Bottle shop for the beer connoisseur! For a few quick groceries, stop at The Farm Stand for fresh, local organic produce, seafood, and sandwiches.
In the summer, the Thursday night farmer's market is just 3 blocks away!
There is ample free parking in the driveway and on the street. A car is recommended.
My rules are pretty simple, treat my house as you would your favorite relative's. NO SMOKING ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY, please :) This is a residential neighborhood so please no parties or loud music after 10pm. Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are allowed for $20/night pet fee. Please enter them as an additional guest when booking. Unauthorized dog will result in forfeit of security deposit. The yard is fully fenced front and back though the fence in the front has large grating that a cat can slip through easily so small dogs will not be contained. Please keep pets off the furniture!

Front entry with slate tile floor, has closet and coat rack to stash wet boots and jackets
Our stay in Hood River was fabulous! The house was perfect for our family of four. Comfortable beds, spacious kitchen with all the necessary utensils, washer and dryer and most important, close enough to downtown and Safeway.
Dana, was very helpful when we got there giving us information on activities for the weekend.
There is no much to do in the area specially if you have a car. Hope we can visit again and stay a bit longer.
Wow! Beautiful home with an awesome view and back yard. Not right in town, but close enough for a longer walk + there are nearby delicious eateries and coffee shops within 2 blocks! Super quiet street - we loved relaxing in the back yard and on the deck. Dana was a great host as it was to be 100 degrees for 2 of the days we were there and she acquired an AC unit that kept the whole house cool! Other great amenities just a few blocks away are the local pool (super nice) and the farmers market on Thursdays! We can wholeheartedly recommend this place!
Dana's description of the house was spot on, and it was perfect for my family of four for a long stay in Hood River. All the needs we could have had were in the house and the view was amazing. We appreciated all of the guide books left for us (and used them!) and would happily stay there again if we are ever in town. We even had some shipping issues and Dana went out of her way to try to help us. Great place and great owner!
We enjoyed a wonderful 4 days and nights at Dana's great house. House was ideal: clean, spare (nothing extra cluttering the space), well-insulated in the summer heat, incredible view of the mountain. We also liked the "Heights" neighborhood - a little bit away from the touristy city-center, and we liked that. Everything was great -- we'll stay again!
A wonderful, serene getaway with a terrific view from the backyard. It was the perfect launching pad for exploring Hood River. The bedroom was incredibly quiet, I haven't slept so soundly for a long time! It was great walking through the quaint neighborhoods, and there are some good local dining options just a few blocks away. Would highly recommend.
"Cozy Spot with a Mountain View" was perfect for my trip to Hood River for a friend's wedding. The house and room were clean, inviting and quiet. Dana left me a key b/c she knew she'd be out, and though we didn't see much of each other over the wknd, I felt at ease and welcome in her space. She gave me a great brunch recommendation and the Mt. Adams view from the back deck/garden is spectacular! Thanks for lovely, down-to-earth place to land in Hood River. Recommend!
Dana's place was exactly as advertised. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy and the bed was really comfortable! Great views with easy access to downtown Hood River and her neighborhood shops. I would stay there again!
About the Host, Dana
I moved to Hood River 4 years ago after finishing grad school at Oregon State. I grew up in Madison, WI and went to school at Colorado State. I studied natural resources because I love the outdoors; hiking, camping, snowboarding and cross country are my favorite activities. I've traveled quite a bit in the Western US, mostly checking out ski towns, wine growing areas and hot springs. When I travel, I like to get off the beaten path and live like a local. I just got back from a 2 month trip to France where I tasted amazing wines, did a little work trade for a small organic winery and a bnb, and ate the most amazing food! I stayed with some wonderful airbnb hosts over there, as well as hostels, hotels and homes. I loved every minute of it! My other favorite travel experiences are my study abroad trip to New Zealand and a trip to Ecuador to volunteer on a Bioreserve.
When I'm at home, I like to play in the yard, I have a big garden in the summer and lots of plants and projects that always keep me busy. I love to cook with fresh, local foods and often have dinner parties for my friends. I work in the wine biz so my wine cellar is well stocked and wine tasting is a frequent activity. I also love to go out dancing when there is a good band in town.
I am a bit of an urban homesteader; I make my own soap, laundry detergent, dish soap, spice blends, teas, dog food, wine, vinegar, and I can or freeze tons of garden produce.
When people stay at the house, they often comment on how relaxing it is. I like the slow life, enjoying the coziness of the fireplace, beautiful view, good food and good friends. I hope you'll enjoy it too!
