Cozy Spot with a Mountain View

House - Private room · B St, Hood River, OR 97031, United States

Your own bedroom in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house. Comfy queen bed with ample closet space in the room. Use the kitchen, living and dining room as you wish! Wifi available. Close to shops and restaurants in The Heights, where the real people live.

The Space

The house is just up the hill from the Hood River swimming pool, blocks from 2 parks, the local organic market, coffee shop, and pub. It is also less than a mile from downtown, close to Post Canyon trails, and within biking distance of wineries and fruit stands.

The house has two bedrooms, one bath, sunny kitchen, an open living/dining room with a spectacular view of Mt Adams and a wood burning stove to keep you toasty on cold winter nights. There is a fire pit in the backyard as well as a front and a back deck to chill and enjoy the view. The bedroom has a queen size bed, dresser and 2 closets. There is gear storage in the garage and basement as well as laundry. There is parking available on the street out front. Guests also have access to wi-fi internet.

I have a 14-year old shepard mix that spends most of her days sleeping or hanging out with me. Unfortunately, she is not good at sharing her space with other dogs so no additional pets are allowed unless you rent the whole house. Please inquire for rate for entire house.

I work for a local winery so my schedule varies with the seasons, crazy busy during harvest and winemaking time, less busy in the cold winter months. One thing is certain, the house is always well stocked with local wines ☺ When I’m not working, I’m usually out playing: hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, wine tasting, listening to local music or traveling. If you need help finding something to do, I can point you in the right direction!

Guest Access

Mi casa es tu casa! Use the kitchen, living, dining room as you wish. Throw some food in the fridge, use the french press for coffee in the morning, wash your clothes if you need to.

Interaction with Guests

I am usually home on weeknights but out and about on the weekends. If you want to chat over a glass of wine or tea, I'm game. If you want some peace and quiet, that's great too.

The Neighborhood

Can't give away all the local secrets but definitely check out Pine St Bakery for morning coffee, pastries and piggies! Another fav spot is Volcanic Bottle shop for the beer connoisseur! For a few quick groceries, stop at The Farm Stand for fresh, local organic produce, seafood, and sandwiches.

In the summer, the Thursday night farmer's market is just 3 blocks away!

  • We loved our stay at Dana's. Her house is warm and inviting, Dana met us at the door when we arrived and made us feel right at home. I loved waking up in the morning to the amazing view of Mt. Adams from her living room. Dana gave us lots of great info about the area for hiking, wine, brewery's, and restaurants. We stayed in our last night for a great home cooked meal and a soap
making lesson. Thank you Dana for making our honey moon such a memorable and lovely experience!

  • Dana has a beautiful home and it was a pleasure to be able to stay there for a night. Dana was able to give me some great advice about local hikes as well as places to go for delicious food and drinks. I absolutely recommend staying with Dana and hope I'll be able to do so again in the future.

  • Dana was wonderful, very friendly and easy to talk with. She readily accommodated my arrival in Hood River by suggesting and then meeting me at a nice brewpub. Her house is well located and inviting. Definitely enjoyed my short overnight stay and would stay with her again if ever the need arose. Her knowledge of wine made for interesting conversation and it was fun to help out with some winemaking even.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed for a night with Dana, but we wish we could have stayed longer. Dana was super accommodating. She had to work both weekend days, but she gave us coffee and breakfast and pretty much free run of her neat little house. Both my gf and I loved her decorating style. We'd definitely stay here again.
If you're looking to be right next to town, it's a little far. But, if you are looking to be in a central location to everything, it is great.
oh and her dog was really nice too!

  • Dana was very accommodating, and we had a lovely stay with her. She was flexible despite our uncertain arrival time, and made every effort to ensure that we were comfortable while we stayed with her. Her dog was quite welcoming and affectionate too!

We had a great stay. :-)

  • Dana is warm and inviting, her place is immaculate and very cozy, bed clean and comfortable, her dog is a SWEETIE, and coffee/tea, fresh carrot ginger juice and breakfast in the morning was beyond expectation. Restaurant recommendation was excellent as well. We'll be back. Thanks Dana!

  • I stayed here for two nights as I explored the Gorge. Dana has a wonderful little home. While I did not get a chance to meet Dana, I found the place to be very comfortable. I normally don't sleep very well while traveling, but this was not true here. She was very helpful and left out information for me about where to eat and some hikes that she recommended in the area. I wish I had more time there!

  • Dana was a wonderful host! My boyfriend and I had been traveling and camping for a few weeks by the time we made it to hood river and decided we wanted to get out of the cold and stay in a real bed. We messaged Dana around 5pm if we could stay at her place that evening. Dana responded to us within the hour and even on such short notice the house and room we stayed in was clean and very welcoming! She even had a little homemade soap for us! Definitely recommend staying here!

  • This was my second time staying at Dana's place. Everything was in perfect shape, as before. When we arrived, we were able to see the stellar Mt.Adams from her comfy living room. In the evening we snuggled in with the warm wood heat. Delightful! In the morning we walked a couple blocks to the aquatic center for swim in their 90 degree therapy pool and did some laps in the big pool. The locals were friendly and it was easy to feel comfortable and welcome.

  • I loved HOOD RIVER! And I loved Dana's house. So cute. So artsy. Loved feeling right at home. We even received handmade soap with our towels when we arrived. Loved it so much, I had to buy a few for friends and family. I would definitely stay with Dana again and recommend her to others.

About
I moved to Hood River 4 years ago after finishing grad school at Oregon State. I grew up in Madison, WI and went to school at Colorado State. I studied natural resources because I love the outdoors; hiking, camping, snowboarding and cross country are my favorite activities. I've traveled quite a bit in the Western US, mostly checking out ski towns, wine growing areas and hot springs. When I travel, I like to get off the beaten path and live like a local. I just got back from a 2 month trip to France where I tasted amazing wines, did a little work trade for a small organic winery and a bnb, and ate the most amazing food! I stayed with some wonderful airbnb hosts over there, as well as hostels, hotels and homes. I loved every minute of it! My other favorite travel experiences are my study abroad trip to New Zealand and a trip to Ecuador to volunteer on a Bioreserve. When I'm at home, I like to play in the yard, I have a big garden in the summer and lots of plants and projects that always keep me busy. I love to cook with fresh, local foods and often have dinner parties for my friends. I work in the wine biz so my wine cellar is well stocked and wine tasting is a frequent activity. I also love to go out dancing when there is a good band in town. I am a bit of an urban homesteader; I make my own soap, laundry detergent, dish soap, spice blends, teas, dog food, wine, vinegar, and I can or freeze tons of garden produce. I'd be happy to show you how to do any of it yourself, just let me know when you book the room. When people stay at the house, they often comment on how relaxing it is. I like the slow life, enjoying the coziness of the fireplace, beautiful view, good food and good friends. I hope you'll enjoy it too!
