Your own bedroom in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house. Comfy queen bed with ample closet space in the room. Use the kitchen, living and dining room as you wish! Wifi available. Close to shops and restaurants in The Heights, where the real people live.
The house is just up the hill from the Hood River swimming pool, blocks from 2 parks, the local organic market, coffee shop, and pub. It is also less than a mile from downtown, close to Post Canyon trails, and within biking distance of wineries and fruit stands.
The house has two bedrooms, one bath, sunny kitchen, an open living/dining room with a spectacular view of Mt Adams and a wood burning stove to keep you toasty on cold winter nights. There is a fire pit in the backyard as well as a front and a back deck to chill and enjoy the view. The bedroom has a queen size bed, dresser and 2 closets. There is gear storage in the garage and basement as well as laundry. There is parking available on the street out front. Guests also have access to wi-fi internet.
I have a 14-year old shepard mix that spends most of her days sleeping or hanging out with me. Unfortunately, she is not good at sharing her space with other dogs so no additional pets are allowed unless you rent the whole house. Please inquire for rate for entire house.
I work for a local winery so my schedule varies with the seasons, crazy busy during harvest and winemaking time, less busy in the cold winter months. One thing is certain, the house is always well stocked with local wines ☺ When I’m not working, I’m usually out playing: hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, wine tasting, listening to local music or traveling. If you need help finding something to do, I can point you in the right direction!
Mi casa es tu casa! Use the kitchen, living, dining room as you wish. Throw some food in the fridge, use the french press for coffee in the morning, wash your clothes if you need to.
I am usually home on weeknights but out and about on the weekends. If you want to chat over a glass of wine or tea, I'm game. If you want some peace and quiet, that's great too.
Can't give away all the local secrets but definitely check out Pine St Bakery for morning coffee, pastries and piggies! Another fav spot is Volcanic Bottle shop for the beer connoisseur! For a few quick groceries, stop at The Farm Stand for fresh, local organic produce, seafood, and sandwiches.
In the summer, the Thursday night farmer's market is just 3 blocks away!
I stayed here for two nights as I explored the Gorge. Dana has a wonderful little home. While I did not get a chance to meet Dana, I found the place to be very comfortable. I normally don't sleep very well while traveling, but this was not true here. She was very helpful and left out information for me about where to eat and some hikes that she recommended in the area. I wish I had more time there!
Dana was a wonderful host! My boyfriend and I had been traveling and camping for a few weeks by the time we made it to hood river and decided we wanted to get out of the cold and stay in a real bed. We messaged Dana around 5pm if we could stay at her place that evening. Dana responded to us within the hour and even on such short notice the house and room we stayed in was clean and very welcoming! She even had a little homemade soap for us! Definitely recommend staying here!
This was my second time staying at Dana's place. Everything was in perfect shape, as before. When we arrived, we were able to see the stellar Mt.Adams from her comfy living room. In the evening we snuggled in with the warm wood heat. Delightful! In the morning we walked a couple blocks to the aquatic center for swim in their 90 degree therapy pool and did some laps in the big pool. The locals were friendly and it was easy to feel comfortable and welcome.
I loved HOOD RIVER! And I loved Dana's house. So cute. So artsy. Loved feeling right at home. We even received handmade soap with our towels when we arrived. Loved it so much, I had to buy a few for friends and family. I would definitely stay with Dana again and recommend her to others.
Dana's home was quiet, comfortable and welcoming. I felt right at home. I needed a place to sleep and relax between 2 long work days and this was perfect. I wish I'd had more time to sit on the back deck enjoying the beautiful view!
Dana was a great host, even allowing us to arrive late after our ling day of travel. She had some cookies, hot out of the oven when we arrived.
Her home is very welcoming and just as her post describes - cozy cottage type of feel. It is in a great location, close to the river and falls. Dana even pointed us in the right direction for a tasty breakfast.
Dana was quite nice and offered suggestions for dinner at a very nice restaurant. She was easy going and didn't mind that I was going to arrive at midnight. I kept some food in her fridge and she didn't mind that, either. Her home is in a super quiet neighborhood. That, combined with a comfy bed and a sweet old dog that doesn't make a peep, made for 3 very peaceful nights in a cozy little home. I would definitely recommend staying at Dana's if you are in Hood River, OR!
I found Dana's house to be peaceful and comfortable, as it sits in the hills of Hood River. Dana has a green thumb and I was greeted by many blooming flowers out front and many plants inside. There was also an interesting collection of books on the wall. I found several good places to eat and hang out, all in the downtown area which is just a few minutes away from Dana's place by car. Anyone looking for a good home base to explore the Columbia River Gorge/Mt. Hood areas should really consider staying here.
If you are going to Hood River (and you really should, it is quite the cool place) - stay at Dana's. What a great place to have a home base. She is awesome. We were greeted by her and her cute and elderly dog Madison, and she even indulged us to talk for awhile even though it was late. Her house has a great bathroom and an even better garden and view of Mt. Adams. Dana also makes great soap and knows her wines. I can't think of a better experience. My only negative is that I wish we had more time to stay. Thanks Dana!
Dana has a charming house and garden in a quiet neighborhood - cozy, indeed - and it was a perfect introduction to airbnb for us. The guest room was clean and comfortable, and the handmade soap in the spotless bathroom smelled absolutely wonderful - we took two varieties of Dana's soap home with us! Dana herself is a warm and welcoming hostess and we very much enjoyed our evening with her. Add close proximity to the Pine Street Bakery, with its excellent coffee and savory bread puddings, and you have the perfect place to stay in Hood River. Very highly recommended!
