There are several methods to get around in Tulum. It is safe to walk and bike around the area of Tulum. Taxis are predominantly used to visit the beaches, cenotes and Mayan ruins. Dora was very welcoming and attentive. She had very good recommandations for places to visit around Tulum. It well located in Tulum pueblo, close to the main street with all restaurant and the ADO bus station. The room is simple but nice and clean, with hot water in the shower, the bed confortable. It’s noisy but with ear plugs it wasfine. It’s really easy to go to the beach by bike or to the ruines by collectivo. I had a great time in Tulum!
I felt welcomed and the listing was accurate. Dora was very friendly and so was her helper Jose. The location is in downtown Tulum close to the regional bus and restaurants. The place only has nets for windows but it is located inside of a compound that felt secure. There is a bike shop close by from where you can rent really cheap, you will need a bike to get to the beach and you can bike to the Tulum ruins which is what I did. Breakfast was rather small but it will get you through. This is a great place if you wan to feel like a local but not if you don't like rough it a little. Overall my experience was good and definitely enjoyed.
Our bungalow was charming and we had such a nice stay! The rental is located in a neighborhood so be prepared for the atmospheric noise that goes along with that. If you are noise sensitive you should bring earplugs. Dora was ever so kind and helpful. This place definitely is a gem for the price and authentic experience. Thanks!
Dora was very friendly and helpful to my friend and I during our stay in Tulum. She was responsive to our questions and gave us suggestions on how to get around the city. Her cabin is rustic and charming. With the proper amenities for a comfortable stay, her rooms are great for those willing to experience a less traditional way of lodging.
I want to start by saying that Dora is a very lovely and kind person. She cares about her listings and travelers and that is why I believe that after our less-than-positive- experience she will work to make her listing more transparent.
•Rooms with Character
•Rooms matched photos
•At least 5 minutes of hot water/Clean bathroom
•Cute garden and communal kitchen area
•The room was not the location provided but rather a 15 minute walk from town, overall about 2.5 miles to the beach.
•Room did not match any of the previous reviews left by others.
•Being so secluded from town it felt a little unsafe especially at night.
•Bat droppings found on our bed and a live bat flying around in our room
•Music (email hidden) or club nearby played music until 5am.
My friend and I booked to stay in the yellow room seen in the photos. We were surprised to find that though the basic description matched the listing, none of the reviews nor the location matched where we actually stayed. According to the “blue circle”, description, and previous reviews, we were lead to believe we were staying just a block off the main “strip” of Tulum, near the bus station. The location we were taken to was 7 blocks north of town. The streets are not lit, nor marked with street signs. I lived in South America for 2 years and would not have made that walk after dark alone, nor with my girlfriend. We were lucky enough to have a rental car which completely saved us in the end. Dora mentioned getting bikes for the place, but if you are intending on going to the beach everyday (which most people do) this is quite a ways off.
All and all Dora is very kind, but the location just isn’t worth the amount that we paid for the room. If you plan to have a car, it would make for a nice jumping-off point, but this is by no means a “centrally located” accommodation. Aside from the bat, the room was clean.
