No need to rent a car, everything is at your fingertips. The Downtown Roundabout is the local trolley that operate 7 days a week: 6:00a.m. - 11:00p.m. Monday thru Friday; 8:00a.m. - 11:00p.m. Saturday & Sunday. The trolley loops from the Delray Beach train station to the beach and back and this loop passes right by your place ((website hidden)) . From the apartment it is about 1.5 miles from the beach. The walk to the ocean is lined with all the excitement of Delray Beach's restaurants, bars, coffee houses, boutiques and galleries. You can rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach and you've got a choice of 5 restaurants and bars right across the street from the ocean, all you need for this rental is your bathing suit. If you prefer to bring a cooler and your own chair (I have a cooler, two chairs and umbrellas in the garage) you can also take the golf cart service "The Delray Downtowner" which operates every day 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. They will take you anywhere within 1 mile of Altantic Ave and is a free service working on tips only (phone number hidden))
Season is here and there are lots of things happening in the area. Delray's bars are open till 2:00am and you will find all types on the ave. The Bull Bar has live bands and is one of the only bar that you can smoke in. Delux does a nice mix of house and hip hop and both places get busier later in the night. Hurricanes is on the back side of the Ave and brings in more of the locals, O'connors is two blocks north of the Ave, way more laid back and a bit roudy, also allows smoking inside. Cut 432 and 32 East are great steak houses. Tramonti is high end Italian. Sazio's portions are huge and delicious. Il Bacio is a great outdoor space and you'll find an older crowd there earlier in the night.
There is a lot of activity such as Jazz on the Ave, Friday night free concerts, Saturday Green Market, street fairs and so much more to offer. The townhouse is just off the main ave right next to the international tennis courts.
Buses and trolleys have stops close by. Its a quick taxi to the train station if you want to take a trip to Miami. It will take about an hour to get there from the house.
If you want to know more about what to do in Delray Beach during your stay, check out the chamber of commerce. They have a calender listing of all the events.
You will have access to the kitchen if you would like to cook a meal and the living room if you feel like hanging out on the couch and chilling with my dogs while I am at work, I only have basic cable but the Roku is set up with Netflix and other options, there is also a pool in the community, the key is readily available.
Interaction with Guests
I work a standard day so I am normally out of the house by 9:00 and home by 6:30. I am all about sitting around, having a drink and getting to know my guests but I am not an intrusive person. I am a morning person and enjoy playing music while I make breakfast or prepare lunch, while I have guests in the house I try to be quiet as I know my guests are on vacation and probably want to sleep in or had too much to drink the night before.
The neighborhood is a mix of residential and retail. Just across the way is a convenience store, Subway, barber shop, pizza, Thai food, checkers, Vintage bar, hookah bar the police station, tennis courts and local library. It is a pretty cool area to live in and the city takes pride in its streets and accommodating tourists.
The downtown round about is a great way to get around ((website hidden)) so is the downtowner ((website hidden)). A new golf cart rental company recently opened for business, you can rent by the day, the week or the month, either a four or six seat model ((website hidden)) you can take A1A up and down the coast line all the way to West Palm Beach and as far south as Fort Lauderdale. The city also has a few taxi services but everything is so centrally located that you can really go anywhere on foot.
Just please respect my house. If you cook something in the kitchen please clean up after yourself. If you are coming in from the beach please brush off the sand by the front door. Please remember that even though you are on vacation I have to get up in the morning to go to work, so if your going to stumble into the house at three in the a.m. try and stumble in quietly.
Place was great. The place is on the Delray free shuttle route (get you from Tri Rail to Beach and back for free, or anywhere between). 5 minute walk to Atlantic Ave restaurants in Delray. 15 min walk/5 min drive to the beach. Cozy room with own shower and large (website hidden) was nice enough to let me borrow his beach cruiser, chair and umbrella for the beach a couple times.
Nice private room and bath on ground floor of townhouse. The location is walking distance from most bars etc. It was very easy to come and go. He also provided beach chairs and towels which was helpful for a short weekend.
Az was easy to communicate with, he was very friendly and helpful. The room was private and clean. The apartment was close to restaurants and the beach but quiet at night. I'd definitely come back again!
Az was great as was his place. Blocks from the main drag of Delray and all of it's great bars and restaurants. The room is even somewhat separated from the rest of the house providing privacy. Will stay again of in Delray

About the Host, Az
Hello everyone - My name is Az (pronounced like the Wizard of) I am 38 years old and I have been living in Florida for almost 13 years. I was born in Israel, moved to New Jersey when I was three and lived there till I was 23 years old. I do love living in the city of Delray Beach and I try to be active in the community, I volunteer when asked in the bed races and helping set up for concerts and shows, I love to just walk my dogs (two cock-a-poo's) Levi and Harley down the street to see what is going on and having a beer with my friends in the local bars. I can sit back relax and listen to Sting, Dave Mathews and Pink Floyd or be in a crowded room with a D.J. spinning Dead Mau5 or Avici and have just as much fun. I used to have a catamaran on the beach but it got old and just was to much to maintain, so now I golf for fun when I have the chance. I have traveled to a lot of places in Europe and in November of last year spent two weeks in Peru with my sister and friends that included climbing the mountain trails to Machu Picchu. I enjoy having new people to the house and letting them know about what is happening around town and in the general area. Most of my friends are former rommates who still live locally.
