Room 4 subway stops from Manhattan

Apartment - Private room · Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11225, United States

Private room, sunlight and silence, near the Prospect Park, Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Museum, 2 express trains to Manhattan. And you get to hear some jazz on top of that!

The Space

I have a nice size room, completely independant and quiet (garden side). There is a big built-in dresser with mirror. There is one bed for 2 persons, and a third person can sleep on an airbed. There is AC, heat and internet.

In the living room there is a leather sofa-bed that can accommodate two persons as well. So technically I could receive 4 guests. I could accept that on rare occasions and for very short stays only.

Full access to the kitchen and its appliances (just buy your groceries, cook and wash your dishes). For coffee lovers I have a beautiful Italian espresso machine :-)

My apartment is on the second floor of a two floor building so it's very quiet. There is no cockroaches nor mice, which is kind of a luxury for New York City.

A grocery store is on one side of my door and the laundry is on the other side of the door.

I'm a musician, so there's gonna be some music around. No German underground punk rock though ;-) mostly Jazz. You may have a free in-house concert!

In the area: Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Prospect Park. Grocery store right next door, restaurants and bars. One minute walk to Prospect Park. 15 min to West 4th St. 20 min to Union Square. 25 min to Coney Island.

I am located one block away from the B/Q train Prospect Park Station.

About me:
I am a jazz musician from Paris, France, in my thirties. I keep my apt super clean. It is a non smoking apt by the way.

Feel free to contact me if you have any question.

Guest Access

Guest has access to kitchen and bathroom. You can use all appliances in the kitchen. Feel free to contact me if you have any question.
Obviously my room and my music studio is off limits.

Interaction with Guests

I work at home, and I work a lot. During the day I practice, compose, teach, produce videos, make phone calls to books shows etc… that's my office, but it is totally separated from the shared space so unless you come to NYC for a zen retreat, that shouldn't be a problem :)

The Neighborhood

I really love the neighborhood. It is diverse, a true Brooklyn experience! A lot of artists live in this neighborhood, two buildings are even called the "Jazz Dorms" because it is filled with jazz musicians. Restaurants around the block, grocery stores open 24/7. There is a gym one block away from my house, open 24/7. Also I have coupons from a local bakery for you to save money :)

Getting around

Super conveniently located, Q and B train, express trains, go to the west side of Manhattan with the B, go to the East side with the Q. 4 stops away from Manhattan, about a 20 min ride during which you will enjoy street dancers!
The other direction will take you to historic Coney Island that you saw in many movies!

Other Things to Note

I will gladly help you getting around, giving you info and tips as much as I can. I try to stay informed about cool things you can do but my forte is the Jazz community more than the hipster bars and the new night club in Tribeca. I will give you addresses you probably won't find in the tourist book :)

Check In
  • Alex greeted my friend and myself warmly. The room was nice, very comfy bed and the location is great. I was surprised, how quiet it was during the night, hardly any traffic noises - big bonus! Alex was very friendly, joined us for our first diner at the Lincoln Tavern, just a few steps from the apt and gave us some tips what to do during our stay. I can recommend staying with Alex!

  • I have spent one month at Alex's apartment. He is a very reliable and laid-back guy. Had a wonderful time. Thanks Alex!

  • Alex's place was perfect for me. Even though he was away and we never met (alas), Alex made himself readily available to answer any questions. My room was simple, clean, quiet, and perfectly decorated. The bed was super comfortable with nice quality bed linens. The location is very convenient to public transportation and the neighborhood is lively and diverse. And, despite all the snow, I enjoyed strolling in Prospect Park, only one block away! I hope to return. Many thanks.

  • Alex was a fabulous host...helpful, considerate and knowledgeable about New York. The bed was comfortable, the apartment was clean, warm and quiet. Alex even helped me find some great jazz in Manhattan! It was fun hearing him play music and a musician myself, I felt very at home. What a great soundtrack for my stay in New York!

  • What a great decision to choose Alex's place! He's very helpful and likeable - and suits perfectly to Brooklyn. We loved the steep corridor with his bike hanging at the ceiling and felt happy when he was playing his music in the background when we were home (unfortunately not often enough, because our stay was short) . At his place, we've found exactly the NY feeling we were looking for. Thank you, Alex :-) !

    Response from Alex:

Hi Susanne! when are you coming back? say thank you to Noelle for the pair of eyes on the light switch, pretty funny ;)

  • Had a wonderful stay in Alex's warm & cosy apartment. The location is awesome. Seconds from the subway and 20mins from Manhattan whilst being right next to Prospect Park. The room was large with plenty of room to hang clothes.

Alex was great - very communicative prior to my arrival and very hospitable during the stay.

I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Even though my stay was super short I had a great time at Alex place. The apartment is big and the bed is super comfy. I did not cook but there's a fully stocked kitchen so you could cook if needed. The place was also very nice and clean. The location is great too: it is right near the park, there are coffee shops across the street and a grocery store that works 24/7. Alex was a very welcoming host. He made sure I had everything I needed and felt comfortable. He accommodated my late arrival and late check-out time. Overall a great experience. Thank you Alex!

  • This was my first airbnb experience. The room was great, and exactly as described. Alex welcomed me in person and introduced me to the neighborhood. He's a very interesting host, and easy to talk to. The location was unbeatable.

  • I was staying at Alex' place during the New York Marathon. It was a very comfortable and clean room and it was ideal to rest before and after the big run. Alex himself is a very nice host and was easy to communicate with. In the neighborhood there are a few good stores to get food and the Prospect Park subway station is also extremely close and brings one quickly to Manhattan. I would definitely stay there again.

  • I had a great time staying at Alex his place. Alex is a great host and always willing to make your stay more comfortable. The appartment is very clean and located in a nice and safe neighbourhood in Brooklyn. There are groceryshops in the same street and also a nice coffehouse around the corner. The subway (Q and B) is just within 1 min. walking distance. I'll definitely stay here again
