The Space

Las Brisas Resort and Villas is a small, family-owned and operated resort complex located in Playa Hermosa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. We are just 800mts from the beach, 5 km South of Jaco and a short and scenic drive from the San Jose international airport. Surrounded by gardens and gated for privacy and security, this cozy little retreat offers eight spacious Junior suites and three, 3-bedroom, 2-bath villas, all individually furnished and decorated with Costa Rican ambiance.

The Junior Suites: The one bedroom suites have en-suite shower room, kitchenette, air conditioning, hot water, cable TV, refrigerator, microwave, FREE wifi, sleep 2 - 4 people on a queen bed and pull out full bed. Suites are pool side and come with complimentary continental breakfast at the rancho.

Villas: The villas at Las Brisas are ideal for couples, families and small groups. All villas have 3-bedrooms and 2-full-Bathrooms. We can offer a 2-bedroom option simply by closing the third bedroom. All villas have air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen, cable TV, FREE wifi, roof terrace with rancho and wet bar, sleep 6-8 people. The villas have full use of the complex pool and spa tub.

Guest Access

There is free wifi available and local and long distance calls can be made in the office. There is a BBQ for use at the rancho/patio.

Interaction with Guests

As the hotel is family owned and we live next door, we are often the ones that will serve you breakfast and answer your questions in the office. Occasionally you might even see us in the pool...Pura Vida

The Neighborhood

Playa Hermosa is a small beach town known worldwide for its surfing, especially after it hosted the world surf championship a few years back. Saturday afternoons many surfers and surf fans do fight for parking spots in the afternoon to witness world-class surfing at the Saturday afternoon weekly surf meets hosted by the Backyard Hotel. Small restaurants, surf shops and other retail are located on the beach which is a 20 min walk or a 2 minute car ride. A yoga center is within 300 meter walking distance. Surf lessons, Zipline booking, horseback riding and other activities can be also booked in the office. Due to the towns location near virgin tropical mountains, you will likely see Scalet macaws on a daily basis. Iguanas roam around the trees, roof and all over the property.

Getting around

The property is located 1.5 hours from San Jose and 10 minutes away from the town of Jaco, where you will find ATMs, nightlife, restaurants, supermarkets and all sorts of retail. Costa Rica is notorious for bad roads and bad signage. For most flexibility, it is recommended you hire a 4x4 with low mileage and either bring or rent a GPS. If you plan to party at night, taxis can easily be hired for pick up and will be available in town for drop off. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the beach and restaurants at the Hermosa beach. For a nominal charge, when the shuttle is available, we can offer rides to Jaco.

  • What a lovely place:-)
Rachelle, John, Terry and Teresa were wonderful hosts to our family of 4. They all went above and beyond our wildest expectations. I'm not stretching when I say I felt like I truly had a home base in Costa Rica. The grounds and room were impeccably maintained and the location was convenient and comfortable. There was good hot coffee and a nice variety of breakfast foods waiting for us every morning by the pool and our room was always clean and replenished when we returned in the evenings. There was always someone there to offer shopping or dinning suggestions, directions and genuine hospitality. The biggest bonus was the fishing trip Terry arranged for our family on his boat! My 12 yr old son reeled (email hidden) Sail fish along with many other sizes and varieties. I wish I could include a picture.

  • Las Brisas is a clean, comfortable place to stay... The rooms are spacious and have everything you need... There is a beach not to far down the road and and John and Rachelle can arrange a shuttle to Jaco..

Jon and Rachelle were very accommodating and helped me sort out a few tours while I stayed there... They are very knowledgable about the area, and are always willing to help with any questions you may have..

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. You won't be disappointed..

  • Las brisas was a perfect initial stop off point after a long flight and drive from San Jose to playa hermosa. Rachelle was very helpful in setting up our transportation from the airport to the resort. Las brisas resort was immaculate, beautiful and peaceful, set close to playa hermosa but only 5 minute drive to jaco for convenience. Rachelle and her adorable family were extremely helpful and accommodating. They gave us a ride into town and even dropped us off at the car rental agency in town the following day. I can't say enough about this quaint b&b, and the family that runs it.

  • Staying at Las Brisas made our Costa Rica vacation relaxing and easy. The relationship the resort has with the local restaurant, Vista Hermosa, was essential, as we had a place to park at the beach and shower off each day. The hotel itself is accurately portrayed in the pictures. It is clean and new with good AC. The pool area is also pretty and a nice place to start the day with breakfast!

  • My husband and I loved Las Brisas. Rachelle and Jon were fantastic hosts... as well as everyone else that worked at the resort. They made wonderful recommendations on where to eat and what activities to do and also set up a zip line and rappelling tour for us. Breakfast every morning in the rancho was amazing. The rooms were perfect and the AC was wonderful. We ended up staying 2 extra nights because we enjoyed so much. Next time we are in Costa Rica we will definitely come back to Las Brisas! Loved every minute of it!

  • Great stay at this lovely little resort! We enjoyed the pool, the friendly outdoor kitty cat, and the relaxing room. Rachelle and Tom are very sweet. They gave us a great restaurant recommendation (Vista Hermosa) and we liked everything so much we repeated the whole experience on our way out of Costa Rica. Breakfast was yummy, parking safe, and the AC cold. Can't ask for more. But wait! I left my iPad and they are so kind in working with me to get it back. THAT is going above and beyond. Will definitely return.

  • Rachelle and her famly were the best hosts anyone could ask for. They arranged everything from car rides to town to planning our tours in the area. The property is beautiful and quant. Breakfast every morning, bicycle rentals and their free internet phone was an added bonus. Rachelle makes the best pastries. Our stay in this area was amazing. From Playa Hermosa you're an hour away from the national park in Manuel Antonio and minutes away from Jaco. We enjoyed the black sand beaches, sun sets and local resaturants. You have to ask Rachelle about La Tortuga Island; one of the best tours of Costa Rica.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Las Brias for an evening en route to Uvita. After a long day travel, Rachelle and her husband greeted us late in the evening. They have an absolutely lovely and clean resort. A great way to start our vacation. If you're planning to stay in the Jaco area, you won't be disappointed with Las Brias!
