  • Ana was a lovely host, the breakfast in the morning was amazing and a great start to the day. We stayed during the week of the carnival so everything was either busy or closed! But we had an amazing time and Ana recommended areas we should visit for carnival parties which were also very good! The location of Ana's house is just right with good bus connections into the central area, to copacabana and also Cosmo Velho. Would definitely stay here again as we felt very welcome, the facilities were just right. Thanks Ana for a wonderful stay!

  • Nice and peaceful central location in Rio. Close to bohemian Santa Teresa (10 min. by bus), Cristo Redentor and Tijuca National Park. Fresh breakfast with everything you need.
Only (minor) issue was the bathroom: since it was used by 4 people in the same weekend (there were other guests as well while we stayed there) it would have been nice if it had been cleaned once a day, especially with the hot weather at the time. The bedroom though is soundproof, was very clean and had an airco and a fan.
Ana and her family are very kind and considerate.

  • We had a lovely few days at Ana's beautiful house in Rio. Everything was perfect, from the wonderful view of the fireworks on Copacabana beach from our bedroom window to the very tasty breakfast.
Ana was extremely helpful; telling us which buses to catch and how to get to the various sites. We wanted to stay longer but unfortunately other guests were arriving.
    Thanks Ana.

  • Unfortunately, Ana was in the hospital while we stayed in her house, what was probably the reason for the room and the bath/toilet (which we had to share with other guests, by the way) not being entirely clean. The house has definitely seen better days, but has a style and the garden is gorgeous: we could even see the monkeys in the trees! The house is located in Santa Theresa which is known as a bit dodgy area (due to its proximity to the slums), but we have not experienced any problems in this respect. Santa Theresa itself is really beautiful and this is a good location to explore Lapa and Centro (the bus stop is just next to the house), but it's a bit far away for a quick swim in Copacabana or Ipanema. Internet was available and breakfast was good (try the freshly made pineapple-mint juice - yummy!).

  • I did a short vista to Rio traveling around Brazil, and when I return (cue I really need to stay longer) I'll try and book this place again! Just the view from my window of The Christ - WOW! Ana is a great host and the place is super cosy with a garden surrounding it, a bakery in the basement and a helpful family. Located in St Teresa you get a good idea of Rio de Janeiro. Even with public transport you can get to the different main places pretty quick (although public transport in Brazil is a huge challenge!!). In 15 minutes by bus you'll get to Largo do Machado and from there you can walk to Botafogo, Flamengo etc. Theres a metro there as well for you to go to the beaches. So, I was very happy renting this place. You'll get a bit away from the city center, but at the same time its easy to access. Rio IS amazing and an extraordinary place in the world, worth taking your time to explore. Ana's place is a good base, and the breakfast is world class :-) 8,5/10

  • Ana is a wonderful host - her breakfast with home-baked bread and home-made cereal is a pleasure. We were welcomed as part of the family. Her house and garden is a jewel and I felt safe on the premises. The rooms were nice and clean with a great view onto the city and to Christ redeemer. I recommend walking (almost) all the way up to Christ redeemer from here. WiFi worked fine and she offered her own computer to use. The bus ride from/to other parts of the city takes a while (as is the case everywhere in Rio), with stunning views over some parts of the favelas. I recommend checking bus connections and reading up on beautiful St. Teresa as a neighbourhood in advance.

If you have to go to the Río, it is the best place to stay. I have been very lucky to meet Ana's home. The House is fantastic, the neighbourhood quiet and beautiful and communicated to go anywhere, with a bus stop almost at the door. In my room I saw from the window to Cristo Redentor . The breakfast is fantastic and great and the bread she does it every day. Incredible. Ana is adorable, friendly and gave me a wonderful welcome, I felt like in my own home. One thing I have clear, which would return to casa de Ana if I return to Rio and recommend it to everyone

Obrigada Ana, Joao and Maria .

About
I'm a baker. I make and sell breads, cakes and other produts in my house, where I live with 2 sons and a daughter. On Sundays my house is open for people for breakfast. I like music very much and I sing in chorus. Twice a week I go to Pilates to make exercises. I like to receive people from many places of the word in my house. I think it's a great oportunity to know people. I hope we have a good time together.
