My 2nd stay here. Great as usual. Highly recommended.
The location was pretty good in a quite neighborhood. A little scary when you walk at late night from the subway station. The room was tiny but clean.
I stayed at Lavinia for a week for my trip to seoul:) I didnt have a hard time navigating to the apartment. Felt very cosy when i stepped into the room which i was staying:) It felt like home.
However the room is not really sound proof as i could hear ppl opening & closing their doors in the middle of the night:) Sharon is a very nice host & was very patient to me with my enquiries:)
I would recommend to stay at Lavinia as it is conveniently located near insadong, bukchon hanok village & Gyeongbokgong which is all walking distance:)
Other than the sound proof problem, i had a very pleasant stay here! Thanks sharon:)
I was a solo female traveler who stayed for seven nights at the hostel. It left a wonderful impression on me. I am extremely grateful to Vicky and her family for their kind and thoughtful gestures.
I happened to be visiting Seoul during the rainy season and on the day of checking out of the hostel it was raining heavily outside. I was touched when Vicky came after me shortly after I had handled the keys over to her as she was worried about my safety. She suggested that I should stay in my room till the weather gets better after knowing that my flight was in the evening. She returned me the keys and assured that I can stay in as long as I needed to. I am really thankful for her kind offer.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone especially for solo female travelers. The room is clean and comfortable, the location is easily accessible to the subway and attractions and the hosts are great!
I have been recommending the hostel to friends and colleagues and I have decided on lovely lavinia for my upcoming family trip to Seoul in October!
Thank you lovely lavinia!
The room's clean and bed is so soft n comfortable!!!!!!!!!
All goods you need is already set in the room.
The owner is really very nice to help me on checking concert's ticket. Thank you Hyuna shi.
The location is a little hard for me to find, but it is sure to located in a good area which is near famous sight spots.
It is suggested for long stay, you will have time to find the beauty of the area.
This place is great ! Stayed for 6/7 nights . It's a really cozy and clean place. And the host ms Vicky is really nice and helpful . Location is was good. Close to the train station and convenience store. And also closed to historical areas and also samcheongdong street. Which is really really awesome!!!! Loads if cafes and food... And the hanok street ...:).... Walk slightly further and u would more stuff ...:).....
Overall , this place is just awesome ...:)...
I would want to personally thank ms Vicky for being so nice/helpful/ and patient ....!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!
Great room, great neighborhood, excellent staff and clean. Will stay there again if I go to Seoul.
i stayed here for 10 days and i had no problems. this is the best place i've stayed in korea :) very clean and the location was perfect for me. its close to main attractions and breakfast is provided every morning.
I stayed in Room #410 for 3 days.
Room: The room was really quite spacious, clean and cosy. There was a little balcony for placing luggage, and it was even big enough to allow you to open up the luggage to sort out. Bed was clean, and looks new. Floor was clean, and there was a long table with mirror and hair-dryer. There was also a LCD TV on the table. I brought along my own bedroom slippers for comfort's sake, but the floor can be heated up. The walls are extremely thin, and I was waken up many times during nights by people talking or closing doors.
Toilet: Limited facilities, the liquid soap wasn't topped up, so I had to run out to get my own soap instead of troubling the host for it. The toilet was like your house's own toilet, so the toilet seat will get wet during shower. 1 piece of small hand towel was provided for my entire trip, but it smelt clean and great, and you could hang it to dry at the balcony.
Location: The hostel is in the same building as Banana Backpackers. It is really near to Anguk station, exit 4, just turn left after the unhyeongung palace, and walk for ~3-4mins, and the hostel is on the right. Very convenient for getting to most of the palaces by walking, & Insadong is just across the street! The area was extremely safe, very unlike Hoehyeon area which I moved to after 3 days. There are a few convenience stores, which opens quite late and eateries if you prefer to laze for a few hours.
Host: I emailed the hosts three times before my trip, but they did not reply my emails. Therefore, I was left wondering if I've booked a fake hostel. In person, host was polite and escorted me to room after check-in. Minimum contact with host during my stay.
Overall Rating: I like this hostel, as it was clean and cosy. The only two issues are the thin walls and hosts not replying to my emails (esp when I was traveling alone, and I needed confirmation on how to get to the hostel). If you plan to stay in this hostel, ask for a room nearer to Exit doors, so that you would not hear people talking or walking past your room late at nights. And bring your own disposable bedroom slippers, shower cap, and towel if you are used to big ones.
Thank you Sharon and Vicky.
I was pleased that I decided to stay at The Lavenia!
l had not booked any accommodation until 2 days prior to visiting Seoul and was beginning to panic. I contacted Sharon and Vicky and to my relief I received a response with 20minutes.
I arrived after dark and as soon as I set foot into into the foyer, Vicky greeted me with my name and was quick to show me to my room without delay. The two sisters Sharon, Vicky and their Mother have a kind hospitality and were always helpful and working endlessly to assist myself and other guests.
The Guest House is very central and within walking distance to Insadong District with lots of shopping, great food, street performers, and exciting nightlife. My room was just like in the pictures, very clean with lots of light and modern. Breakfast offered, was a perfect start to the day. Considering all of this, it was Great value and I will definitely stay here again.
The directions from the airport was easy to follow. (I would suggest catching the bus as it effortless and simple.) Announcements were made in Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English to indicate what the next stop would be. With the train from the airport, there is more to consider, with luggage, you have transfer onto different trains and keep any eye on the stations to transfer. After a long flight, it's not as appealing. The bus just seemed easier. There is a counter in the airport where you buy a ticket. I followed the directions from Anguk bus stand to the hotel which was a short 5 minute walk and easy to follow.
One night a fire alarm went off in the building and Vicky was quick to alert all guests that it was a false alarm and apologetic, reassuring our safety.
I hope to get to Seoul again soon. It made my time in Seoul all the better.
