Our studio apartment is a beautiful guest space with 85m2 of private space and including gorgeous views of Concepccion Volcano and Lake Nicaragua.The open plan design includes a bedroom area with king size bed & night tables and an open plan living, dining and kitchen withwith oven and full size fridge . There is a front porch l with hammock and sitting furniture.

We might have gone overboard with the bathroom which is enormous &beautiful and includes both an indoor and outdoor garden shower.

The space
Our property covers 5 acres. We have hammocks, tables and chairs and lounge chairs positioned in the garden for guests to use.

The property runs on a hybrid mix of solar and grid energy. Our hot water is provided by solar hot water heating systems. We recycle our grey water and use biodigestors to process our black water.

The space is not air conditioned but remains fresh by encouraging cross-ventilation as well as the use of ceiling and standing fans. Also, Ometepe in general enjoys cooler temperatures then the mainland.

Guests can enjoy their private 85m2 space as well as our communal spaces including our gardens and BBQ dining area.

We have a cat, Ninja, as well as two medium/large dogs on our property, Alpha and Osa. They are an integral part of our family and sweeties but they also provide security at night. They can bark at strangers but do not bite.

To get to us, we are located 650meters up the rustic and very rocky dirt road leading to Totoco Eco-lodge. Most vehicles can access us year round but those with 4WD or at least higher clearance are recommended. ATV's are also a great way of getting to us.

Is Ometepe the right fit for you?
If you have a love for nature and all things natural, you will love Ometepe! The island is home to an abundance of flora and fauna and has everything from waterfalls, black and white sand beaches, incredible nature hikes, ancient petroglyphs, scenic wetlands and a natural volcanic swimming pool. If, however, you have a phobia of spiders, insects and other creepy crawlies, then Ometepe is perhaps not the right fit for you Whilst the accommodations we offer are anything but rustic, the island is and as its biosphere status implies, there is an enormous amount biodiversity which translates into an incredible array of insects.

Where you’ll be

Balgüe, Altagracia, Isla de Ometepe, Rivas, Nicaragua

Balgue is a rustic village on the Maderas side of the island. There are no large businesses in the area rather many small locally owned 'pulperias', comedors and mini supers. Balgue hosts a number of great places to eat including Totoco, Cafe Campestre & KaiKaia (a Vegan restaurant). Furthermore, in the neighboring village of Madroñal there is Pizza Ḿediteranea, Bustavo, El Pital and Zopilote all which offer some great options.

Our family has lived in Nicaragua for 17 years and we LOVE IT!!! Over the years we Totoco Eco-lodge, Xalli Hotel and now Ananda Guest House all located on the magical island of Ometepe. We also have a lovely townhouse in Managua that is great for those entering and exiting the country.
