Interaction with Guests
Minimal - always nice to meet new people, but privacy is paramount with me - so if you would like to socialise, you will need to tell me -otherwise, I go on the assumption that you would like to not hear from us as far as possible:) I leave a pen and paper in the studio, so you can leave me notes, - those that text , are encouraged to use that form of communications. Of course, major issue - like "we forgot to bring Olive oil" - you can call up the stairs or text me:) When I have guests, I am at your disposal 24/7 !
Close to everything, yet secluded, peaceful, private and quiet. Farmland on one side, conservation forest on the other, .......... spectacular views all round - see the photos for yourself.
This is a smoke-free and drug-free home.
Sorry, not more than 2 people occupancy.
Most important, have a fabulous stay with us!
PS. Winter is an incredibly busy season for us because of our location to Blue Mountain. I'm sorry but I can't control the weather so if you cancel due to inclement weather (road conditions) and its not in keeping with the terms of the cancellation policy listed, I cannot offer any refund because we incur expenses with cleaning staff, etc prior to your arrival which we cannot be reimbursed for. I hope you understand:(
The host canceled this reservation 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a great time during our stay at Karen's place. It has a perfect location in a quiet area very close to Thornbury and Meaford. Karen was very nice and very helpful during our visit.
Karen and her son were extremely pleasant hosts. She gave us detailed directions, greeted us upon arrival and welcomed us into her home (even though we were expected at 11pm). The space was very clean and cozy, and the kitchen was fully equipped. Karen provided us with a variety of brochures outlining the tourist attractions in the area. She also provided us with detailed directions to and from each attraction, which we used devoutly when traveling. She really prepared us for a relaxing vacation.
However, what took us by surprise was that there was no on-suite bathroom. We didn't know we had to walk down the hall of Karen’s home to get to the separate private bathroom. This was something to get use to, though Karen was very good about giving us our privacy. Overall, we had a nice time at Karen’s place.
Thanks for the lovely message. However, not sure why you were surprised - the listing clearly says 'Separate private bathroom/w shower'. Additionally, its exactly 4 steps from the suite to your private bathroom - I thought I should mention that so that other guests do not misunderstand as you used the words "down the hall' - which sounds a lot longer than 4 steps.
Came for some R and R and that is exactly what Karen delivers. The surroundings are peaceful. The living area is simple yet clean and comfortable. Karen was very pleasant upon arrival and other than the occasional text for information purposes, she provided the independence as advertised. The welcome book was very helpful regarding places of interest to eat and visit. Thank you Karen. Hope to visit again.
We are SO delighted to have had the opportunity to find this charming place and to meet Karen and Cameron. A very comfortable and cozy place - a truly welcome restorative and relaxing place after a long, cold and hard day's skiing.
Karen could not be a more welcoming and helpful host - ever helpful with our request for off-hours arrivals and departures, and a wellspring of suggestions of things to do in the neighborhood.
The drive to the location takes you well off the main roads, though it within very easy access from Blue Mountain. The advantage is that you are in a beautifully secluded and serene area with inspirational vistas.
The apartment is very nicely appointed with all the comforts and conveniences for a short or even long stay. Of note is the bed...better than the 5-star hotels I've stayed in. And then there are the personal finishing touches that Karen puts in which makes you, the guest, feel totally welcome and at home.
And then there is the view. Despite its proximity to the hubbub of Blue Mountain/Collingwood, the place is secluded so as to enjoy the serenity of open fields, no traffic and no street lighting. I'd suggest you make the same mistake we did - forget to close the curtains. As you sleep you may be fortunate to have clear skies which allows you to fall asleep while staring at the stars. And then if fortune follows, you may wake up to see the sun breaking the horizon. A spectacular event.
I look forward to returning...
Karen and Cam were such great hosts!! We felt so welcomed and had such a pleasant experience! I can't wait to go back!! I miss waking up to the beautiful view!!
About the Host, Karen
Originally from Africa, so tranquil, open country space is important to me. When I travel, (outside visiting family), I prefer to be close enough for convenience to the activities, stores, restaurants and scenic places I want to visit, without having to hear the noise of a busy day to day life and traffic all the time. Where I live now, and where you would make your visit, is all of that and more. You are close enough to do it all, yet located in a secluded scenic village that allows you to recoup, recharge and relax.
