Big, sunny four-bedroom in Harlem, New York. Extremely convenient public transportation to all of NYC-- 15 minutes from Times Square by subway. Subway is about a 1 minute walk from our door. Recently renovated, clean kitchen, living room, one bathroom. Fully furnished private room.
We work hard to keep the home clean, and provide fresh sheets and towels for each guest. You will receive keys for your bedroom, the apartment, and for the building. :)
The area is very safe. We have lived here for more than 3 years and have had zero bad experiences coming home or walking around at all hours of night and day. We have had over a hundred Airbnb guests and as you can see from our reviews, not one person had an unsafe experience here.
Central Harlem has great nightlife, museums, and other hangouts. Popular places to visit include Maysle's Independent Cinema, the Lenox Jazz Lounge, the Studio Museum of Harlem, the world-famous soul food eateries Red Rooster and Sylvia's, the Apollo theater, and much more-- all within 5 minute walking distance from the apartment. Marcus Garvey Park and the New York Public Library are both just one block away. 24 hour gyms and laundromats within 5 minutes. Lots of restaurants and cafes, grocery stores, delis, and weekend Farmers and Craft Markets in the neighborhood.
We are one block from the 2 and 3 subway lines, two blocks from the A, B, C, and D subway lines, and four blocks from the 4, 5, 6 subway lines. This means anywhere in the 5-borough area is extremely accessible, with Times Square 15 minutes away. The M60 (Laguardia Airport), M100, M101, BX15 buses all stop one block from the apartment, and we are 3 blocks from the MetroNorth train station (to suburbs in New York state and Connecticut). Public transportation available to Newark, LaGuardia, and JFK airports.
We have a puppy named Coco.
Our place is ideal for young travelers on a budget looking for an authentic New York City experience-- a relaxed, artistic home with a few friendly faces waiting for new guests!
Please note that we are on the fourth floor, and do not have an elevator.
See you soon,

The whole apartment (except other guests' rooms): Kitchen (including all appliances, fridge, freezer, sink, storage, cookware including pots and pans, juicer, blender, slow cooker, toaster, electric kettle, rice cooker, waffle maker, etc.), living room, full bathroom, fire escape with potted plants.
If we're very busy you may not see much of us but if you stay more than a few days chances are we will become friends (if you want). : ) Interaction level is up to the guest-- if you want total privacy you are free to move around the apartment as you wish, but if you want a friendship we are open to that too.
Thanks to Asani, Chelsea, Peter & Sueminn for being such wonderful hosts. They were friendly, organised and easy to get hold of. The apartment was in a great part of Harlem - close to some great restaurants like Sylvia's, Red Rooster and Pee Dee's. I stayed in February and it was comfortable, relaxing and fun.
Probably the cutest dog (besides mine lol) I've even seen! Friendly hosts. If you're low-maintenance and independent like me, this is probably a great fit for you. I'd never stayed in Harlem before, it's quite far up if you like to hang downtown, but their place is a block from the red line, so for the price it's on par. :)
Lauren, thanks for being so nice to Coco! We loved having you here, if only for one night. And yeah, Harlem is definitely not downtown, but we love it up here! The red subway lines, the 2 and the 3, both run express during most of the week, so maybe downtown wouldn't have felt so far the morning you left--but hopefully you'll get to stay a longer next time! :)
I had the most amazing time staying with Sueminn and the guys. The apartment is so close to the subway (literally a minutes walk) that it made it the perfect place to explore New York from. The room was really spacious and I loved the new wall hanging. Everyone was really warm and welcoming to me. It was the perfect experience. I really enjoyed staying here Sueminn and the others were always friendly, kind, polite and welcoming. I love the new chalkboard wall in the kitchen - lots of handy information. Coco is also one adorable puppy! Next time I come to New York I will definitely be trying to stay with Sueminn and the guys again. I couldn't recommend this place more highly. It's incredibly reasonable for the location (18 mins to time square) and the experience that you get.
Sueminn and her friends were great. The adorable baby did not make a peep- best behaved baby I've ever met. Wonderful little dog Coco. Great location with really good restaurants, stores, and art museum nearby. The room and apartment were comfortable and had everything I needed. Thanks for a great stay!
Where to start... These four fantastic human beings made my stay the best it could have possibly been. They were oh so accommodating, everything was clean and comfy. If I ever needed anything they were on top of it. Best Airbnb experience a girl could ask for. Literally steps from the subway. Laundry and grocery store right down the street. Safe area. Baby Maya is the cutest and i'll miss her sweet face and Coco is also a close second to the cutest baby in the house :)
Really nice and neat room. Hosts are so lovely as well as the little baby and puppy coco. I Feel so welcomed. Sufficient appliance and washing stuff. BTW the convenient transportation， only 2 minutes walking distance to the 3、2line subway. Be my first choice when I go to NY again:)
The proximity to the underground makes this a super easy location to get into downtown. I had some great soul food around the corner too which was lovely. The bathroom is clean which is always important. There are people in and out all the time which makes for a lively and festive atmosphere.
Hey Peter and chelsea,
Thank you very much for a wonderful stay the room was very good and your hospitality was great :) i would definitely visit again
All the best
I have an unforgettable memory here. It is actually my first time to use airbnb and to live in other'a room. The host is so warm that makes you at home. You can have your own keys to access to your room anytime. The kitchen and bathroom is always available. And there is everything you need, shampoo, body wash, towel and so on. You can try to explore the rest part of New York by subway 2 and 3 lines. They are only half minute away. The host has a baby only seven month old. And the dog CoCo is so cute (hope I spell right). All in all, you should come to explore here by yourself.
Great apartment, very close to the subway station and very quiet despite having a baby and a puppy in the apartment - amazing. I loved my stay here, the room and the bathroom were clean, Peter and Chelsea were very friendly and I loved staying there, although for one night. This is the best place to stay in NY on a low budget in a private room.
